Samba4 Internal DNS - CNAME not working
Hello, It seems Samba4 is having problems with CNAME records. I am seeing the same behavior as mentioned in the thread below. Is there any ETA on a fix for this? This is identical to the problem with MX records. This is currently a much bigger problem than the MX records. I appreciate any assistance. [root at DC1 var]# dig autodiscover.testdom.com CNAME ; <<>> DiG

Clients no longer updating DNS & unable to delete MX records
Hello, After noticing some odd behavior on my domain, I realized that many of my DNS records are incorrect and that clients are no longer properly updating DNS. While looking into this, I also discovered that I am unable to delete MX records via AD DNS Manager or samba-tool. Both tools "see" the record but report it does not exist when I attempt to delete it. I can create new MX

sshd Match Group directive problem
I try to set up two "Match Group" directives in sshd_config. I have an LDAP server. All users including admins are part of the LDAP group users. The admins users are also part of the LDAP group wheel. For example: [~]groups admin1 admin1 : users wheel [~]groups users user1 : users On a client server to LDAP, I try to configure two "Match Group" directives in sshd_config as

Hello list, I am using the Microsoft ADUC (Active Directory Users & Computers) tool from the RSAT suite for creating and modifying my domain users. I am aware of the "copy" functionality which really is very nice to use. Unfortunately I am missing two important actions during the user-creation process which I try to describe: 1.) Samba and CNAME
You can remember this. If you join a server, that make sure that that servers "hostname" gets an A and PTR record. The PTR is most important. Now if you creat a CNAME now, through PTR it knows its "original" hostname And kerberos works, this is how i do all my setups. As example. REALM : INTERNAL.EXAMPLE.COM FQDN : test-dc1.internal.example.com Hostname: test-dc1 SPN

Internal DNS CNAME not working
Samba 4.0.0 I am running all of these commands from the PDC DC1. /etc/resolv.conf domain mydomain.com nameserver 127.0.0.1 smb.conf does have a dns forwarder = 192.168.1.2 samba-001 the actual host name, and also a PDC, in the same domain. I would like to have the alias my-server point to samba-001. I added a CNAME record: bin/samba-tool dns add 127.0.0.1 mydomain.com my-server CNAME

Samba4 DNS - Adding CNAME
Hi All, I'm using samba 4.0.0alpha21-GIT-UNKNOWN provisioned to use the internal dns server. I'm having a bit of trouble adding a CNAME entry, or more correctly, getting it to resolve after adding. Prior to adding the CNAME a query returns (the relevant record); Name=centos, Records=1, Children=0 A: 192.168.1.11 (flags=f0, serial=2, ttl=900) It's more than likely me doing

Samba4 Internal DNS CNAME entries
I am currently in the progress of testing the replacement of a Windows 2003 DC with a Samba4-based one. In the DNS of old Windows DC we had CNAME entries to alias www.domain.com to serverX.domain.com and ftp.domain.com to serverY.domain.com. This is working and can be tested successfully with dig The CNAME entries were correctly replicated across to the internal DNS server on the new Samba4 DC
