work-around on ipv6 samba 4 internal dns
you can disable ipv6 at a machine level echo net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6=1 > /etc/sysctl.d/disableipv6.conf which I did. <quote> So. Installed my first Samba 4.03 PDC Kept it simple, used samba's internal DNS forwarding to the main DNS server. Edited resolv.conf to query localhost. All was well until I tried to pull down ntp from my debian (6.0) apt source. Suddenly, no can

No DNS domain configured
Hai, well, Close.. I see multiple errors which makes that DNS setup isnt working. We have multiple ways to setup networking these days, which also makes things more confusing.. - old style. /etc/network/interfaces - netplan /etc/netplan/00-installer-config.yaml - systemd /etc/systemd/network/lan-devX.network > > > probably isn't, if netplan is being used :-) > >

IPv6 routed setup
Hello folks, we're planning an IPv6-Deployment using tinc. A routed tinc-network should connect a couple of wireless access points. In order to avoiding scaling issues, the network should not be run in switched mode. Our site uses 2001:470:780f::/56 - Each ap gets a single /64 network, to be distributed to its wireless clients. Example: ap 1: 2001:470:780f:1::/64 ap 2:

DNS resolver over IPv6
I have a Centos server that is running BIND and has IPv6 global addresses. I have entered a number of AAAA records into this copy of BIND in a local view and zone (tld is htt). Over IPv4, I have no trouble with nslookup ('nslookup - 127.0.0.1' and 'nslookup - 192.168.128.55'). I get the AAAA records back. But if I try to use the IPv6 address of the system I get a time out.

Okay I didn't read that. surprised that it should work with the databases as is. The dbcheck function was quite involved when it was run on the 4.5.5. update. NUT fails on openSUSE 11.3 if IPv6 turned off
Dear List, I'm running NUT 2.4.1 on openSUSE 11.3 64 bits, kernel 2.6.34. The UPS is an Eaton Ellipse ASR 1500 USBS. With driver usbhid-ups NUT works perfectly _until_ I turn off IPv6. By default IPv6 is turned on in openSUSE 11.3. I visited YaST -> Network Settings -> Global options and deselected "Enable IPv6". I then restarted the box. When I entered the command

Samba AD with internal DNS on IPv4/IPv6 but only announcing IPv4 address
Hello, I use Samba AD in Version 4.8.3 and would like to run it on IPv4 und IPv6 in order to be able to have Samba acting as IPv6 DNS Server. However since I have problem with sysprep domain join as soon as Samba advertises its own Domain Controller Hostname as IPv4 and IPv6 address, I would like to tell Samba to run on both protocols but only resolve to an IPv4 address. So in short: When I

IPv6 DNS Confusion
Hi Chris, This sounds like a bug and a configuration issue ;-) . You are correct your domain controller IPv6 address should not change. Is your /64 a static prefix that does not change with time? If it is, then this probably means that you have temporary addresses configured on your DC. Either scenarios are likely to cause a DNS update and add new records. The old records should be deleted
