C6 Firefox 45.1 segmentation faults
Akemi, Most of the packages should already be in my repo, EPEL or PUIAS. If this works, I'll look at incorporating it in nux-dextop. Lucian -- Sent from the Delta quadrant using Borg technology! C6 Firefox 45.1 segmentation faults
Yes, that clip does not have sound. I'll try to upgrade ffmpeg in the following days, see if that helps FF. Abiword as test of Wine
One problem with Wine has been that there were few serious open source win32 applications out there to test Wine with (ok, maybe my opinions are from 1997 :-) In any case, we have some great open source Win32 applications to test with. AbiWord is one. I just tried installing AbiWord 0.9 under the latest Codeweavers preview. The install worked -- but generated about a billion warnings of the

antiword
Hi guys, I've been noticing more and more that antiword has trouble with many word documents. It may look like it's converted a document but leaves out headings and bits of text. I've been looking into getting openoffice to do it in headless mode but still have a way to go before it's stable. I was wondering if anyone else had any luck on this front? One quick fix I have found

Newb needs help with Lotus Ami Pro
Hi, folks. I'm new to both Ubuntu Linux and Wine. I've been running Lotus Ami Pro for years under Windows 98 and have about 70MB of Ami Pro files. Nowadays, though, printers are not made to support Windows 98 anymore. I had heard about WINE, and rather than buy another Microsoft product, I decided to see if I could run Ami Pro under another OS. My new printer works perfectly under

[slightly off topic] Sweave with markdown
DeaR list, Has anyone tried to mix the Sweave paradigm with the Markdown[*] (and co.) syntax? Would this be hard to implement? My tiny understanding of Sweave is that one can define new drivers for the text part, while some functions that deal with the R code would not require any modification. Here's the reason I'm interested in Mardown for a driver. I've been orbiting

Need Python3 for C6
I need Python 3.4 (latest) on CentOS 6 for development purposes (teaching programming). Need advice for best method to do this. I am concerned about not breaking the internal plumbing of C6. I was thinking about installing it into /opt. I noticed http://puias.math.ias.edu/data/puias/computational has 3.3 but I need 3.4 (asyncio module). Wondering if anyone has tried python3 from puias repo ?

postscript bug? (PR#9803)
postscript() produces files that are not encoded as eps, according to the standard. Hence, word processors such as OpenOffice and AbiWord do not recognise the files as eps. See http://www.postscript.org/FAQs/language/node80.html The problem is in the first line of the postscript file: The header is wrong. It should be: %!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0 whereas postscript() produces: %!PS-Adobe-3.0 The

LinkWord Language Learing Software W/ ActiveX error
Hi all, I am new to Wine and Linux. I am currently running Ubuntu 8.04 with Wine 1.0-rc2 on an old Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop. For the last couple of days, I have been trying to get my Linkword language learning software to work on my laptop (Rosetta Stone seems like a lost cause at this point). A little about this program, it is a "stand alone" type program, and by that I mean

Amar, Thanks for your prompt reply. No, I do not plan to fix the code and re-compile. I was hoping it could be fixed with setting the shared-brick-count or some other option. Since this is a production system, we will wait until a fix is in a release.
