Segmented regression
Hello all,
I have 3 time series (tt) that I've fitted segmented regression models
to, with 3 breakpoints that are common to all, using code below
(requires segmented package). However I wish to specifiy a zero
coefficient, a priori, for the last segment of the KW series (green)
only. Is this possible to do with segmented? If not, could someone point
in a direction?
The final goal is to

Question on broken-line regression: 'segmented' or alternative
Dear R-Users,
I have a question concerning the determination of breakpoints and
comparison of slopes from broken-line regression models. Although this
is rather a standard problem in data analysis, all information I
gathered so far, did not answer my questions.
I added a subsetted example of my data. Basically it is a timeseries of
recorded phenotypes in three different groups of plants.

Breakpoints for multiple variables using Segmented
Hi all,
I am using the package ?Segmented? to estimate logistic regression models
with unknown breakpoints (see Muggeo 2003 Statistics in Medicine
22:3055-3071). In the documentation it suggests that it might be possible to
include several variables with breakpoints in the same model: ?Z = a vector
or a matrix meaning the (continuous) explanatory variable(s) having
segmented relationships with

Interpretation of davies.test() in segmented package
My data:
I have raw data points that form a logit style curve as if they were a time
series. Which is to say they form 3 distinct lines with 3 distinct slopes
in backwards z pattern. A certain class of my data looks essentially flat
to the eye with marginal oscillation. What is important to me is the x
value at which the state change is occurring, in other words, the break
point

Local root vulnerability in udev
I just saw this thread in the OLM forum. Possibly of interest, since
they say it includes CentOS 5, if the update hasn't been released yet.
Always good to keep boxes updated, for security and stability
reasons.

Peak Over Threshold values
Dear List
I hope you can help me: I?ve got a dataframe (df) within which I am looking
for Peak Over Threshold values as well as the length of the events. An event
starts when walevel equals 5.8 and it should end when walevel equals the
lower threshold value (5.35).
I tried ?clusters (?)? from ?evd package?, and varied r (see example) but it
did not work for all events (again

How to vectorize a function to handle two vectors
Dear R-users
I am trying to "vectorize" a function so that it can handle two vectors of
inputs. I want the function to use phi (a function), k[1] and t[1] for the
first price, and so on for the second, third and fourth price. I tried to do
the mapply, but I dont know how to specify to R what input I want to be
vectors (k and t)(see in the bottom what I tried). I have read the help
file,

Return a list from a .Call but segfaults
Hello,
I call a function via .Call passing to it a raw vector(D) and an
integer(I)
The vector is a series K1,KData1, V1,VData1, K2, KData2, ...
where the integer K1 is the length of Data1 and similarly for Ki (wrt
Datai)(similarly for V*) There 2*I such pairs( (Ki,KDatai), (Vi,VDatai))
The numbers Ki(and Vi) are written in network order.
I am returning a list of I elements each element a

/root is wrongly copied during update
For backuping system folders on ArchLinux I use the following command
per folder:
rsync --update -DHAErlptgo --relative --delete-during $dir $backupdir
The problem is that every file in /root folder and its subfolders is
copied each time when this command is run. In all other folders only
new or modified files are copied. The files and the folder itself have

The ZFS Read / Write roundabout
Hey all -
Was playing a little with zfs today and noticed that when I was
untarring a 2.5gb archive both from and onto the same spindle in my
laptop, I noticed that the bytes red and written over time was seesawing
between approximately 23MB/s and 0MB/s.
It seemed like we read and read and read till we were all full up, then
wrote until we were empty, and so the cycle went.
Now: as it happens,

rgl crash on windows 7
I have a co-worker who has installed R 3.4.2 on Windows 7. When this
person tries to load the rgl package with
library(rgl)
A dialog box appears with the message:
R for windows gui frontend has stopped working
I suspect a conflict problem with a dll, but I'm not sure how to identify
if this is the problem since R is crashing immediately.
Interestingly, when we start R and do NOT load rgl,

Minimizing Computational Time
Dear R-users,
May I seek some suggestions from you. I have a long programme written in R
with several 'for' loops inside. I just want to get them out by any elegant
way (if there is!) to reduce the computational time of the main programme.
For instance, is there any smart way for the following programme that will
lessen time?

NUMERIC DERIVATE
UseRs,
I used the optim function
valor.optim <- optim(c(1,1,1),logexp1,method

and I want to calculate the derivates,
psi1<-valor.optim$par[1]
psi2<-valor.optim$par[2]
psi3<-valor.optim$par[3]
a0=exp(psi1);
a1=exp(psi2)/(20+exp(psi2)+exp(psi3));
a2=exp(psi3)/(20+exp(psi2)+exp(psi3))

How to save a model in DB and retrieve It
I'm wondering how to save an object (models like lm, loess, etc) in a DB to retrieve and use it afterwards, an example:
wind_ms <- abs(rnorm(24*30)*4+8)
air_kgm3 <- rnorm(24*30, 0.1)*0.1 + 1.1
wind_dg <- rnorm(24*30) * 360/7
ms <- c(0:25)
kw_mm92 <- c(0,0,0,20,94,205,391,645,979,1375,1795,2000,2040)
kw_mm92 <- c(kw_mm92, rep(2050, length(ms)-length(kw_mm92)))

optimize in very small values
I hope you will forgive me this simple question on titration.
I'm trying to find very small values from the algorithm below, which I
believe is
correctly formatted, and the constants are also correct. When SID goes over
ATOT, fitted vales are
much too low compared to the literature. I guess I must be using optimize
in a wrong way but cannot find out how to improve it. I'm on windows, R

Using apply() with a function involving ode()
Hello,
I am trying to get the output from the numerical simulation of a system
of ordinary differential equations for a range of values for three
parameters. I am using the ode() function (deSolve package) to run the
numerical simulation and apply() to run the simulation function for each
set of parameter values. I am having trouble getting the apply()
function to work.

Model studies in one analysis using treatment as a five level moderator in a meta-regression
Hello,
I am medical student, writing a meta-analysis on complication and reoperation rates after the five most common treatments of distal radius fractures. I have been busy with the statistics for months by my self, but find it quite hard since our classes were very basic. Now I want to compare the treatment modalities to see if there are significant differences. Using R I was able to
