High Sampling Rates
That article is a bit too dismissive. I agree that one cannot hear the difference between 48KHz/16bit and 192KHz/24bit if you just transfer the data directly to the audio output device. As such, there is no good reason for Opus to support higher than 48KHz (especially since this is lossy compression, anyway). However, in general, that's not all you do with audio data. 192KHz is useful for

Apparent Maildir permission issue
I've gotten errors like this when it was actually a selinux denial. If you're running selinux, check those logs too. How to GSSAPI/Kerberos authenticate with Dovecot [formerly Where is krb5.keytab or equivalent?]
Mike, excellent suggestion! I will definitely experiment with that nsswitch change. Rowland also mentioned adding RFC2307 to the AD settings for the user(s). If, as you say, my MTA will find the home directory with the nss windbind setting, that would be fantastic! I would definitely removed the AD users from /etc/passwd. I don't know if nsswitch.conf settings are now mentioned in the

Disk space and RAM requirements in docs
Hi, Have anybody recently built LLVM in Debug mode /within/ space requirements from the Getting Started doc? https://llvm.org/docs/GettingStarted.html#hardware > An LLVM-only build will need about 1-3 GB of space. A full build of LLVM and Clang will need around 15-20 GB of disk space. From my experience this numbers looks drastically low. On FreeBSD my recent builds consumed more than

More experimentation ... I stopped Samaba, ldbedit'ed the /var/lib/samba/private/idmap.ldb and changed the line xidNumber: 3000026 to xidNumber: 10001 killed the cache and restarted Samba. As I hoped, the wbinfo now showed $ wbinfo -i mark HPRS\mark:*:10001:10000:Mark Foley:/home/HPRS/mark:/bin/bash which was NOT the case in my message below after killing the cache. In that previous

bandwidth requirement
Hi Folks, have a question, on bandwidth. I want to run an asterisk server SIP to H323, g729. Calls arrive on sip/iax go to IVR get authenticated and egress through h323. So G729 license is only used during IVR and then it is pass through. I am collocating this server. Colo offer a monthly bandwidth quota. Lets say I want to do 100K minutes per month of VoIP calling at the beginning. What would

Autofs and Fedora 11
Hi! I'm having trouble accessing Samba shares via autofs. Let me begin by saying that I can access the samba shares directly using smbclient without any trouble. For example: smbclient //Matsa/Pisi works fine. I first started out by copying a config line from an older system (redhat 7) that has in its auto.misc: (all on one line, of course) pisi

problem with "choose.files" command & interactive functions
Hi all, I?m new to R, and I?m having a small but annoying problem with the choose.files command, using version 2.8.1 in Windows XP. I am holding my data text files in C:\\Data\\, and I?m writing a short script that first resets the default directory to this directory, then allows me to interactively select which text file to import and attach, using the Windows widget. Here is my script:

AACplus
Sorry for the crosspost but it's relevant to Vorbis and Icecast I believe. I'm seeing more and more streaming stations using AACplus, with many listeners being amazed at the sound quality. Most say that a 48kb/s sounds better than a 128kb/s MP3, which would put Ogg Vorbis at around 96kb/s IMO. That means only half the bitrate is required in AACplus compared to Ogg Vorbis for the same
