Re: [xiph-commits] r14188 - trunk/vorbis-tools/vorbiscomment
I don't agree with the s/Ogg Vorbis/Vorbis/. vorbiscomment does edit Ogg Vorbis files, not Vorbis streams in any other encapsulation. -r On Mon, Nov 19, 2007 at 07:01:43AM -0800, ivo@svn.xiph.org wrote: > Author: ivo > Date: 2007-11-19 07:01:43 -0800 (Mon, 19 Nov 2007) > New Revision: 14188 > > Modified: > trunk/vorbis-tools/vorbiscomment/vorbiscomment.1 > Log:

[xiph-commits] r15069 - in trunk/vorbis-tools: oggdec oggenc
On 25-Jun-08, at 3:23 AM, ivo at svn.xiph.org wrote: > * correctness: make oggdec output help text on stdout instead of > stderr Hmm. Doesn't oggdec output the decompressed audio to stdout? IIRC the help goes to stderr to avoid clobbering that. If 'corretness' is the windows issue, could it be compile-time switched? -r

vorbis-tools 1.2.0 Release Candidate
I bumped the version number of vorbis-tools and am preparing it for an eventual release in a few days. A changelog of what's new may be found at [1]. Meanwhile, what's in SVN is a "Release Candidate" to find out if anything was broken since version 1.1.1. Report any (or lack of) problems you may find, so we'll be able to put out a new version of vorbis-tools. -Ivo [1]

AGAIN: ogg123/ogg123.c of vorbis-tools causes error on FreeBSD
In the vorbis-tools of the 20010710 version of CVS snapshot, ogg123/ogg123.c causes error on FreeBSD: <sys/types.h> is required. This *HAS NOT BEEN FIXED SINCE THE 20010601 VERSION*. I would appreciate if you just add an #include line - or let me know why you do not want to do so. // Kenji Rikitake *** ogg123.c.FCS Sun Apr 8 11:33:08 2001 --- ogg123.c Sat Jun 2 00:40:08 2001

vorbis-tools 1.3.0 BETA - Help testing.
Dear vorbis-dev lurkers, I bring you the first beta release of vorbis-tools 1.3.0. It has quite a few new features and the final version will have even more, so I am sure it is to everyone's benefit that it gets as much tested as possible so we can do a quick release. Here's the changelog so far: * Fixed an error in configure.ac; --with-speex/flac work again (#1319) * Corrected

vorbis-tools 1.4.0, ogg123 and MinGW
Hope this is the right location to post this. Was looking at vorbis-tools version 1.4.0. (By the way the wiki page at https://wiki.xiph.org/Vorbis-tools is still pointing to 1.2.0.) I tried compiling with MinGW ( from http://www.mingw.org ). It builds except for the ogg123 program. Even though there's an --enable-threads=win32 for configure, doesn't look like it does anything. Would Xiph be interested in a logo redesign for Vorbis?
So, in a thread on HA a user asked if some logo was the official one for Vorbis. It turned out not to be, but everyone agreed the official logo was ugly and a bad idea to add on any portable player compilant with Vorbis (or other Ogg media for that matter). The chaps, me included, started a discussion of a redesign, but truth be told, if Xiph isn't interested in a redesign, there's no

vorbis-tools-1.1.1 build mechanism stubbornly refuses to build with FLAC, ogg123, speex
Hello, I am trying build vorbis-tools-1.1.1 in the framework of my tool (see signature). The essence of the tools is that it builds and install everything locally, and, of course, it uses the available mechanisms to specify search paths for both headers and libraries; the tool first builds dependencies abd then the target itself. So, for example, 'configure' for vorbis-tools-1.1.1 is

oggdec and ogg123 playing audio from an Ogg Theora+Vorbis file?
Are oggdec and ogg123 supposed to be able to extract or play audio from an Ogg Theora+Vorbis file? OggDec 1.0 and ogg123 from vorbis-tools 1.0.1 don't seem to be able to do so. If the programs are not supposed to do this job now, are any improvements planned so they can do this job in the future? Thanks for info on this.

vorbis tool ogg123/oggenc running out of sync while streaming.
Or rather - the ogg123 seems to run faster than the oggenc. Based on the vorbis toots 1.0_1,3 I've got (on freebsd) a small streaming server which essentially takes the oss/vox audion input; uses the code from oggenc to make a stream and then a bit of apache 2.0 to dole that stream out over TCP to various clients: setup oss /dev/dspW0.0 16 bit stereo 44k1. create ogg/vorbis

ogg123 and Vorbis piped to stdin
Moin, Two questions I have. Actually, the first isn't so much a question. It seems that `ogg123' is not able to play streams from stdin, at least not for me on FreeBSD. It also seems that with the patches way down below, it can play from stdin for me -- I handle stdin like http-transport and return the same values for seeking and the like, to avoid calls that fail, and so it works,

vorbis-tools release soon?
Since it's been almost 2 years since vorbis-tools 1.2.0 was released, would it be reasonable to see 1.3.0 soon? There are plenty of changes in there that deserve to see the light of day - the ReplayGain support in ogg123 and the vcut fixes in particular have my attention.

ogg123 crash
Hi, I already mentioned this on #vorbis, but thought it good to create a mailthread on it for easier tracking. One of the OpenBSD developers (claudio at openbsd.org) found that ogg123 crashes on his machine with a SIGSEGV while playing tracks with unknown comments in the tags. He's running with special malloc flags that make the OpenBSD malloc(3) extra picky (manpage available online at

vorbis-tools ./configure problems libao2 posix threads
Hello, I have just subscribed to this list so please forgive me if this question is misplaced. I am trying to build vorbis-tools on Darwin 10.4 using SVN. I am having some real problems getting the configure script to satisfy the dependencies needed for ogg123 support (which I definitely want). The problems are:- Firstly configure wants libao and libcurl and POSIX Threads. I installed
