Getting started with vorbisfile_example.c (MS VC 6)
Hello Hope you don't mind another newbie's question. Further to GIE's email about problems compiling decoder_example.c example (MS VC 7) using debug static ogg/vorbis libs, we'd appreciate any help getting the example files to compile on MS VC 6. The zip files we have downloaded are: libao-0.8.2.zip libogg-1.0rc3.zip libvorbis-1.0rc3.zip vorbis-sdk-1.0rc3.zip

Sample accuracy in reading
Hey guys, I've finished my work on reading vorbis files (straight reading at either PCM sample lengths, or time lengths). However, I've run across a question. When you call vorbis_synthesis_read, I assume that increments the internal ptrs so you don't get the same data twice. The question is, what happens if you call vorbis_synthesis and vorbis_synthesis_blockin? Does the next call

vorbisfile_example.c question
i downloaded the vorbis, ogg & example files and compiled them and now have an executable called 'vorbisfile' that turns 'test.ogg' into 'out.pcm'. is there some simple way to test the out.pcm file in winXP? ~~~~~~~ bob hurt I can't stand cheap people. It makes me real mad when someone says something like "Hey, when are you going to pay me that hundred

ov_open_callbacks takes so much time to open 210 MB OGG file
Why ov_open_callbacks(fd_, &vf, NULL, 0, OV_CALLBACKS_NOCLOSE) takes so long to open OGG file? The OGG file has just 210 MB. It takes a lot of time open the file. I am working on OGG audio recorder and player. Thanks in advance! With kind regards, Pavel

Lacing Values
I noticed that, when decoding an ogg vorbis file that was encoded with the xiph library, that the comment header and setup header are encoded on one page. Okay, the vorbis documentation says you can do this, no problem. My question is, the lacing values seem to indicate where the packet boundaries for the two of these are, is this required, or is this just a hint? Further, I'm seeing

win32: Encoder using vorbisenc.dll - AV?
Hello, When I compile either oggenc or encoder_example with static libraries, they work fine, but when I try them with the dynamic libraries, I get an access violation in vorbisenc.dll with both oggenc and encoder_example. Can anyone on win32 confirm this? It's strange because vorbisfile.dll *does* work with vorbisfile_example, and the configuration for vorbisfile.dll is exactly the same

Problems running example encoder/decoder
There isn't a lot of guidance on how exactly to run the codec I compiled out of cvs just now, but I expected the following to work: cat test.wav | encoder_example | decoder_example But the decoder fails with: End of file before finding all Vorbis headers! Is this a bug? Or am I missing something fundamental? Should I attach the test.wav? -- Daniel --- >8 ---- List

vorbisfile.o givng me problems
I have been having problems compling vorbis on my computer( running redhat 7.1 ), it gives me a bunch of errors about vorbisfile.o( at least that what the errors are complaining about...I don't know enough to figure out what is wrong ). Below is the output I get from compile: Making all in examples make[1]: Entering directory `/home/mchavez/devel/vorbis/examples' /bin/sh ../libtool

Anyone with an extended vorbisfile_example?
Hello Vorbis-dev! I just found out about this absolutely great format. I downloaded the SDK and successfully compiled vorbisfile_example.c with MSVC6.0 - seems to be working fine. My next step will be to modify it as follows: 1) Write proper Windows pcm .wav files (with complete header). Shouldn't be too much of a problem. 2) Package it as a single .dll (instead of as I have now: 1 .exe and 3

more commits
Contained in tonight's last commit: Fixed a link-crossing bug in libvorbis (total time was reset to -1 at the link boundary until the next packet with a frame number arrived) Implemented instantaneous bitrate capability in libvorbis; added ov_bitrate_instant() to interface. I know I talked about a different interface to this with the Sonique folks a few months ago... I couldn't remember

Problems with vorbisfile and files smaller than CHUNKSIZE
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm writing a simple application to decompress a set of Ogg files to raw PCM format, using vorbisfile, because that is the simplest way of doing it. These Ogg files are sounds for a game, and thus sometimes very short (about .25 s). However, vorbisfile has severe problems with Ogg files that are smaller than the CHUNKSIZE which is #defined

Problem with vorbisfile_example from WIN32SDK
We compiled the vorbis_example from WIN32SDK with Borland 5.0 under WIN98. When running, it ends in an address violation caused by ov_open (or ov_test as well). This happens no matter which Library we're using, or if we're trying to read from stdin or a FILE*(which was binary). thanks, michael <p><p>_________________________________________________________________ MSN -

vorbisfile for Mac Classic
Hi, this is my first post, I hope it's the right mailing list (or should it be vorbis@xiph.org?) I just downloaded "SDK for MacOS9" and tried to compile the "vorbisfile_example.c" sample with CodeWarrior for Mac 8 on a Mac OS 9.2 machine. I included the libOgg and libVorbis libraries in my project, but the linker cannot file ov_clear(), ov_read(), ov_pcm_total(),

cvs trunk vorbis/ compile patches
ltconfig placeholder shoud be removed. Makefile.am : some stuff copied from branch_beta3 ogg lib must be added only where necesary. vq subdir Makefile.am'ized, (but installs nothing) made distclean target slightly more clean -- check it by hand first, please --- also you'll want to remove vq/Makefile if the ...am passes inspection ------------------------------------------------- diff

Adding RC3 support to GoldWave
Here are some minor things I noticed when updating the vorbis module for GoldWave: Bitwise.c, line 175 and 207 Warning: Negative unsigned value ret=-1UL; Info.c, line 385 Warning: Unreachable code break; vorbisfile.c, line 1407 Warning: Call to function with no prototype int host_endian = host_is_big_endian(); fix: add 'void' to line 1339: static int host_is_big_endian( void )
