handling multitrack Ogg
What would the creation of a AVI or MPG with 2 audio tracks tell me that I don't know yet? I can just use normal ffmpeg for that - ffmpegx is just a GUI transcoding tool based on ffmpeg and the latest ffmpegx release is more than 2 years old. Anyway, I did look at the AVI spec after this email (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd318183%28VS.85%29.aspx) and found that while each track

OGG/OGM media container
Hi all, Xiph aims at developing open-standards media formats. Though xiph.org tells about vorbis/theora/flac/speex, nothing is mentioned about container to use (that is ogg/ogm). I have a few questions Is there a difference between ogg and ogm? I guess its only the extension that is different and everything else is same. Some tools (like ogmtools) are available to create ogm files. What is

Video and audio not in sync
I had some shows on tivo that I figured I wanted to keep on a CD in case I might ever want to watch them again. (Not that you care, butthis really is for my own personal use. I wouldn't have the bandwidth to "share" this stuff even if I wanted to.) So I downloaded a 1 hour show with TiVo ToGo, and I jumped through a few hoops to "free the mpeg", and I got a nice 2 GB

Should Join Discussion - Fwd: [whatwg] Give guidance about RFC 4281 codecs parameter
Hello, You guys might want to join this discussion. (And maybe some others too.) On the WhatWG mailing list, there's been a fury of e-mails about adding a <video> element to HTML5. They're talking about codecs and containers now. It might be helpful to have your representatives there. And help shape things. See ya ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Dave Singer

Create CD from avi files
I have avi files in xVid format from my Camera, and I want to create a Video CD that can be viewed on any CD player. I have searched through the various repos (including rpmforage and kbsingh) and did not find anything that would burn. I have a number of programs that have no trouble displaying these files. Including xzine, Avidemux, and VideoLAN-Client). I unfortunately have to make these

Theora / ogg usage
Hello, An old theme just came up on the Wikipedia mailing list again : Wikipedia strongly encourages[1] using theora encoding, strongly enough that I don't think we currently host any other video encodings...[2] however, most users know how to make and edit and play mpegs, and find theora hard to work with. http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikipedia-l/2005-March/038244.html Perhaps the

Codec Information
Hi, I'm currently working on a project to create some order in the video codec chaos and for the completeness of the information I've got a couple of questions about the Theora codec. I realize I'm a bit early to add the Theora information while it's still in Alpha stage but I figured the base won't be changing anymore (atleast not a lot anyway). - What FourCC code(s) is

VirtualDub and enconding with DivX, XviD
Hello, I am trying to get the latest wine (Wine 20030219, fake windows) working with the GordianKnot (0.27). Unfortunately, Virtual Dub is not be able to compress a avs-file with the DivX-codec. It crashes if trying to. Also, it would be nice to compress an mpeg-source with Xvid but also it crashes. BTW, VirtualDub does not list it in its codecs window ?f "msvfw32" is set to

Quicktime Vs Windows encoding with VP3
I found out about vp3 from the new winamp and coincidentally i also happen to be trying to find a suitable solution to broadband streaming. I have used flaskmpeg to create a 17mb .avi file from an 82mb Mpeg 1 file and it looks great it took about twenty minutes to encode. It runs for eight minutes and the audio is also fantastic using the lame encoder. However when I try to do the same in

Re: Ogg Internet Drafts - create application/ogg-vorbis, application/ogg-tarkin, etc.
Dear David, I hope it's ok to forward your email to the developer lists. I have not seen a comprehensive scheme for MIME type naming and file extensions for ogg files yet - please anybody put me in the picture if there is. However, I have seen application/x-ogg used for ogg-vorbis files, which is according to MIME type registration rules an unregistered and experimental MIME type (see
