[Fwd: Re: Regarding non-streaming Ogg]
[pardon me if this retreads some ground, but I'm just getting up to speed on this issue] so am I to understand -- application/ogg is for downloading, and will invoke an app that supposedly can parse *any* ogg file -- audio/vorbis is for streaming -- but this is narrowly defined as vorbis audio only. Presumably the thinking is that a streaming application is likely to be less

Re: Ogg Internet Drafts - create application/ogg-vorbis, application/ogg-tarkin, etc.
Dear David, I hope it's ok to forward your email to the developer lists. I have not seen a comprehensive scheme for MIME type naming and file extensions for ogg files yet - please anybody put me in the picture if there is. However, I have seen application/x-ogg used for ogg-vorbis files, which is according to MIME type registration rules an unregistered and experimental MIME type (see

[Fwd: Re: Regarding non-streaming Ogg]
This is my previous conversation with Colin Perkins at IETF regarding audio/vorbis. For interested parties. Last two paragraphs are the most interesting ones. Matroska as an alternative to Ogg (container)
http://www.matroska.org/ I just found out about this and I think it looks like a great idea. I figured some on this list would be interested. Also, speaking now without having reviewed matroska in detail, nor being involved in Ogg/Vorbis: Perhaps it would be a viable alternative for the Ogg format for Theora if nothing else. I read about the .ogg format a while back, and while I have no

Does ogg can be "multicasted"?
Hi everyone, My name is Pandu, I'm from INdonesia. I just joined this mailing list two days ago. I'm doing my final project in my college, my final project is about streaming ogg video (using theora of course). I've already search about how to create multicast stream with ogg and software which can do that, but I found nothing. So, back to my subject, does ogg can be

Regarding applications implementation of Skeleton's Content-Type
I noticed this first in vorbis-tools and later in ffmpeg2theora. The Skeleton bitstream contains a header called Content-Type. It lists the media types of all the data in Ogg. In vorbis-tools and ffmpeg2theora the output is normally Vorbis and Theora. The Skeleton implementation there reports those media types as video/x-theora and audio/x-vorbis. I would like to suggest that it would be

Live HTTP streaming of Theora files
What's the easiest way to broadcast a "live" event using Theora? - Microsoft Media Services uses a closed protocol (MMS) and special streaming servers, so I'm not excited to go that way, even though it seems to be the most obvious choice. (Though I'm not sure if I could convince it to use Theora anyway.) - I could encode the entire file into an Ogg/Theora file and just

Ogg Vorbis compatible with Darwin Streaming Server?
Hi, I saw the documentation "RTP Payload Format for Vorbis Encoded Audio". My question: The Darwin Streaming Server (OpenSource and free for several plattforms) streams media with RTSP/RTP. For more information: http://www.publicsource.apple.com/projects/streaming/ I know that a QuickTime Component of Ogg Vorbis (compressor/decompressor) in progress. (Thanks guys) Could I stream Ogg

Java and ogg/vorbis
I am a bit confused to how Ogg/vorbis works. This is my understand. Vorbis is an audio codec that can be used instead of MP3 and it is open source. If this is true, what is Ogg? I think it is some kind of wrapper that allows you to stream Audio and Video. Am I right? Also I want to encode short videos in Xvid and then encode the audio in vorbis. Then I want to stream this over the Internet

ogg, mimetypes and containers and rfc4281
just found http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4281 and it looks like a good way to indicate which content ogg streams have, to my understanding one would use things like these: Content-Type: application/ogg; codecs="theora, vorbis" Content-Type: application/ogg; codecs="theora, speex" Content-Type: application/ogg; codecs="vorbis" what would be a good place to

A possible use for multichannel ogg files!
Hi, Has anyone thought about using the multichannel format as a way of distributing "musician minus one" files? Eh? I hear you ask. Ok. Basically these are multitrack files but you can mute the solo track so you, the musician, can practice against the other "players". You can buy CD's of this nature, but of course, the solo instrument is on one channel and the others on

Hello, Does anyone know the answer to this question below? (Note... they're calling the Theora codec "Ogg" below. I know technically it's not correct... but that's what some are calling it.) ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Enric <enric.media@gmail.com> Date: Aug 19, 2007 10:13 AM Subject: [show-in-a-box] Re: Ogg To: show-in-a-box@googlegroups.com A

application/ogg status update
There was an objection at the IETF working group meeting regarding passing the MIME type application/ogg as a proposed internet standard. The objection was that Ogg streams are not documented in an RFC. I have been told that a reference implementation should be enough, but also said that I am prepared to write up an RFC for the Ogg stream if that is what it takes. (After all it is simple and

Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora Streaming Software
Hi, Its been a while since I posted to this list. I have finished an application to stream Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora to file or Icecast server for Windows users. For example, you can stream your webcam/radio station with it. Maybe this will help make more Theora streams available as there seems to be very little Windows support. Some features are as follows: - Connects to DirectShow Input

[OT-ish] WebM/Ogg VP8 streaming
Hi all, Sorry for the VP8 question on the Theora list, but I think all the relevant people are here :) I'm using Icecast to distribute some Ogg Theora streams at the moment with a view to adding VP8 along side these in future. Ideally I'd just use Ogg VP8+Vorbis, I know there is a mapping for this already but how much support from the browsers can I expect for this configuration?

packetizing an ogg stream
Hi, I am not sure if this is the right mailinglist (since I have an ogg problem not a vorbis)..... I am looking for some pointers on how to packetize an ogg stream. My idea is to use udp packets for transport, so I would need a way that would minimalize the impact of lost packets. Are there any code examples out there for this? Thanks, Jeroen p.s. Please cc me, I am not subscribed to this

Use of ogg vorbis for real time audio streaming?
Hi list! I am currently investigating the possibility of allowing musicians to collaborate over the internet -- Musician A -------> internet --------> Musician B This diagram obscures quite a lot of detail. In reality, the datapath would look more like this: Musician A ADC Compression algorithm UTP (or perhaps RTP?) IP ADSL the Internet ....<snip>..... Clearly, this link would
