mpg123 with ogg decoder...
I'm building a car audio player based on Cajun projekt ( http://cajun.sourceforge.net ). It uses remote control interface of mpg123 for control play.. I'd prefer to use vorbis format for ripping my CD's but, I still have some music in mp3 format only.. Did anybody consider to put vorbis decoder in mpg123, so it can play al this 4 formats. Or it's better to switch to freeamp ?

format of http stream?
I am streaming ogg via inetd. Basically, I am outputing like: oggenc -Q -b 1 -o - /some/wave/file.wav This works fine with ogg123 (other than that I want the bit rate to be lower than 55-100 range that it is doing). I am using: Ogg123 from vorbis-tools 1.0rc2 OggEnc v0.8 (libvorbis rc2) But, FreeAmp for Windows slowly buffered up to 100% then said "Skipped Corrupted File". And

icecast 2.0 semi-permanent test stream
Icecast 2.0 and Ices 2.0 are both fairly usable now. I have set up a semi-permanent test stream for people to bang on at: http://i.cantcode.com:8888/ices.ogg Please report any problems you have. I say semi-permanent, because it will probably crash now and then, and I will be developing and putting up the new versions on a regular basis. If it stops working for more than an hour, somethings

Vorbis stream up now
Greetings: If you're using the latest XMMS (CVS preferably), FreeAmp, Sonique (?), or ogg123 (maybe), please check out this URL for a Vorbis playlist stream: http://64.108.112.34:8000/shouter.ogg The playlist is lengthy, and I've set it to repeat three times, so it will be on-line for a while. Please let me know how well or badly the stream was received, thanks. Best

Problems with xmms & freeamp
Hi all, I've just set up a test icecast2 server (download and compiled from cvs about an hour ago) - very simple setup, all it does is use ices to stream in an .ogg file that I converted from an mp3, using mpg123 & oggenc. (I've used the sample conf files with the directory stuff removed. I've also tried it with and without the re-encoding lines from the ices-playlist.xml file).

Problems streaming high bitrate over a LAN
I am trying to stream various 320kbps MP3s across my 10Mbps LAN. Either locally or across the network, freeamp and xmms prefetch a chunk, then play it, then fetch another chunk etc. No continuous streaming. shout gets a lot of !s between its "."s when sending the file to icecast. Any ideas? -- Always hardwire the explosives -- Fiona Dexter quoting Monkey, J. Gregory Keyes, Dark

Ogg Media Player
What is the best (preferable open source) media player for oggs? I'm on windows, and Windows Media Player is the best thing I can seem to find. I've looked at WinAmp, QCD, Sonique, and FreeAmp, and they just don't seem to have the media library functionality WMP has. Is there another player out there I'm missing? Chris

Simple player example?
I am starting a small personal project (for some Thesis work) involving some audio, and I am wanting to use Vorbis. While I am a programmer, I have not dealt with audio before so I am trying to find good resources to learn how to get Windows to play the sounds I want it to. Are there any simple Vorbis players out there that are open source? I know of FreeAmp, but it is 1000x more

sample rate/bitrate
i'm new to icecast and the list. i like what i've seen so far. but i'm having some issues. first, i can't seem to get the right bitrate/sample rate on playback. i've ripped my music, encoded and played it in freeamp, and it's great. but when streamed (to winamp on a win2k pc), it plays super-fast-forward. what'd i do? econd, password configuration (via .conf

questions about artifacts in low bitrate streams
Hello- I recently downloaded Verbs and started playing with the encoder. The quality was great when I encoded a few samples at medium and high bitrates, but when trying to encode the same clips at 16 kbps, artifacts are audible during playback- short bursts of screeching noise, not just distortion. I'm using oggenc 1.0 beta 4 to encode, sonique to play back on Windows NT. I've also

OT: WinNT(2000) player to open files with unicode names?
Sorry for posting somewhat off-topic... Most my music files have names in hebrew (FAT32 partition). I dual-boot between a hebrew win98 (where these files are opened nicely by winamp, freeamp and any other program) and a hebrew win2000, where windows media player is the only program I've seen so far to open them. All others say "can't open file ???? ?? ???.ogg" (or .mp3) - both

bug? ogg123 and mono files
hello, I try to listen to the stream at http://ogg.radiostudio.org:8007/ostream.ogg with ogg123, it's a 44100/mono stream. It sounds to me like a mono file played as a stereo file. there are very often silent drop outs and the music is pitched. is this a bug in ogg123? I changed to stereo encoding and know it's better (normal pitch without silence), but I have klicks/scratches in

Win32 player needed to put speex into widespread use
I am eager to begin using speex for downloadable audio on my church's website - but first a good win32 player is needed given that windows has a 94% domination... Are there any plans for an up-to-date speex player for windows? (that winamp plugin is hopelessly old) Building this into zinf (fmr. freeamp) might be an option, but their code is one big mess. --- >8 ---- List archives:

another Icecast2/Vorbis test stream
Greetings: Yes, I've placed another test stream on-line. Thanks to the feedback from members of this list, I've taken a few extra steps. 1) According to DSLReports, my uplink today is 137 kbps. It may actually be a little faster, they say that Netscape's reporting is skewed (and I use Netscape). 2) Thus, I've prepared a set of Ogg files encoded with -b 24 to fit my

It works now. Any idea how to synchronize 2 players on the same stream? End up with ~ 1 s phase difference. NAS might be more appropriate...

Freeamp output plug-in
Hello: I don't usually post requests like this to mailing lists, but I've just about run out of other options. The vorbis.org and vorbis.com sites both make mention of a beta vorbis output plug-in for freeamp, but I'm blowed if I can find it anywhere. It's definitely not in the vorbis.com download section (unless it's been placed their within the last 24 hours or so), and
