contribution, rpm packaging
For my own needs I have created the .spec file needed for rpm packaging of the flac package. End users --------- If anyone is interested in the resulting rpm-files i have made them available on http://noa.tm/flac-rpms/ FLAC maintainers ---------------- I have attached the specfile along with hooks in Makefile.am and configure.in in unified diff format so that they are ready for inclusion in

UTF-8 stuff
Here's a propsed heavy-duty solution for your UTF-8 problems. I'm including a patch in this message, but I'll put the new files on my web site at http://rano.org/tmp/xiph_files.tar.gz I've tested this by running vorbiscomment with and without -DHAVE_ICONV=1 in vorbis-tools/share/Makefile. It seems to work. Changed files: acinclude.m4: Add a test for nl_langinfo(CODESET). This

extremely noticeable artifact (britney-bug)
I really don't know if this is the same problem that was reported by Ingo Saitz (I really couldn't say which one was 128kbit and which was the original wav when blind-testing. The original had some distortion that perhaps does somehting with my cheapo soundcard) but here's a description of what i've found: When doing some sample encoding with rc2 (rebuilt rpm with latest redhat

UTF-8 in comments
Some days ago i noticed in the ogg vorbis documentation that the comment-field contents should be encoded in UTF-8. A brilliant idea I think, sadly it seems like no one is using it. oggenc and vorbiscomment included in vorbis-tools writes strings to the comments fields blindly without any encoding conversion in violation of the spec. I intend to try to solve these problems to the best of my

/etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge: line 62: ip: command not found
I try to bring up xend but get this error in the xend-debug.log /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge: line 62: ip: command not found Link veth0 is missing. This may be because you have reached the limit of the number of interfaces that the loopback driver supports. If the loopback driver is a module, you may raise this limit by passing it as a parameter (nloopbacks=<N>); if the driver is

Moving fileserver
I'm having a problem here I'm not sure how to solve, so I hope someone else have done the same (and succeeded :) I have an old smb server ('tux') which is ancient (both in software and hardware) and can't handle the load. This machine is running version 2.2.3a-14.1 (Debian GNU/Linux woody) with 'character set = ISO8859-1'. The new smb server ('bella') runs

libvorbis make and spec fixes
I had to change the following to get the 'make distcheck' to work and to be able to build the rpms with 'rpm-build -tb *.tar.gz' I also added a test in libvorbis configure.in to detect older ogg versions (check for oggpack_writealign) and print a meaningful error. I also updated the .spec-file with dependencies on libogg-1.0 Thanks for great work everyone! /noa -- begin:vcard

pcre library in R (PR#9319)
I have the same problem, trying to cross-compile. I'm running Ubuntu Edgy, kernel 2.6.17-10-generic, on an IBM T60. I downloaded the Makefile from CRAN and ran make CrossCompileBuild with the following error messages (also ran each make one at the time and the problem occurs in make R): ../extra/pcre/libpcre.a(pcre_dfa_exec.o):pcre_dfa_exec.c:(.text+0x1703): undefined reference to

R package for scorecard development
Hello all, Is there any R package that can develop a scorecard model for a binary target variable? More details: I want to create a scorecard based on the raw data I have. I have a binary target variable and a few numeric and character input variables. I want to bin the variables and assign a score to each of the bins. Each subject will be scored based on the bin it falls in for each

Handing connection depending on the client computer public key fingerprint
Hello, I try to find a way to handle SSH connections differently depending if it comes from a 'trusted" computer or from an unknown computer (for instance giving access to a shell versus allowing only scp/sftp in a chrooted environment). Using the IP address is not a solution since a trusted computer can be a laptop that is connected somewhere on Internet. One solution could be to use

PATCH: UTF-8 checking in libvorbis
Here is a patch that implements a check so that libvorbis complains when a comment string that is not UTF-8 is added. This patch will break oggenc without my UTF-8 patch. (http://noa.tm/oggenc-utf8.2.diff.gz) I've tested the verification algorithm on ~150k strings in various charsets (from the gnome translations) and about 0.02% of the strings that has chars with 8th bit set is valid UTF-8

Chan OH323 and overlapping digits
Hi, Perhaps there's something wrong in my config... I did some tests connecting Asterisk to an Ericsson MD110 PBX by setting up an h323 trunk. When dialling into asterisk I got some problems when the entire number is not in the setup message, i.e. I'm dialling digit by digit on the ericsson phone. Lets say I have 4001 in my extensions, and dial that from the Ericsson PBX, then the

dovecot ignoring config file contents -- istream.c problem?
Hello! This is my first time trying to run dovecot so maybe I've overlooked something, but I'm having a hard time running dovecot. First of all, it's worth noting that I'm trying to run dovecot on an embedded platform: the target architecture is mipsel; I have patches for the 2.4.18 kernel with special support for the board so I'm still using the 2.4.18 kernel. My C library

Unregister and register SIP phones by using num pad on phones?
Hello dear list. A couple of years ago, I worked with a Alcatel IP pbx and Alcatel Sip phones, and we had the opportunity to unregister user by typing *-a number and -* again, ex * 99 *, and then the phone number/sip extension was unavailable, and all of the calls to that extension was redirected to the receptionist. When the user came back and wanted to register her sip account/extension, the

Missing fonts for tightvnc
You would think installing via yum would handle dependencies, but perhaps fonts are not managed like dependencies..... Anyway, I installed tightvnc to test out its IPv6 support. Installed ok (after I erased regular vnc). But when I tried to start it, I got 5 warnings about: Font directory '/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc' not found - ignoring (then the same message for Speedo, Type1,
