I know the algo for Laplace generation, but arent there any packages available.
Also, i'm trying to check for the Bernoulli sums obey the CLT, but though i calculate 2000 values of
S(n)-n*p
----------
sqrt(n*p*(1-p))
for p=.5 and n=45, this fails both KS test and shapiro test.
Why??
Thanks

multiple logical streams
Hi,
Why is seekability necessary in case of multiplexed multiple
logical streams? Isn't the differentiation based on serial number
sufficient to continue decoding of pages in the sequence of their
arrival?
Regards,
Patrick.

How to read NT Domain accounts from a Unix box
Hi,
Is there any open way of reading user/group accounts of a NT
Domain from a Unix box? I guess, rpcclient is more like a hack of
MS protocol.
Is it the only way currently? Can anyone give more information on
this?
Thanks in advance.
Ravi

data.frame - transform
Hi there,
I have a data.frame (pwt6) which I would like to transform:
country year gdp
MEX 1950 2
MEX 1951 5
BOL 1950 4
BOL 1951 12
ITA 1950 45
ITA 1951 2
This should be the result:
year MEX.gdp BOL.gdp ITA.gdp
1950 2 4 45
1951 5 12 2
Right now I have this code (better - no code):
country.label<-names(table(pwt6$country))
result<-data.frame(year=NULL)
for(i in country.label)

CCITT A-Law to Speex conversion
Hello group,
I'm not sure this is the right place to ask a user-question instead of a
dev-question - if not, a pointer in the proper direction would be

Averaging over data sets
Hi all,
after using Amelia II to create 10 imputed data sets I need to average them
to have one unique data that includes the average for each cell of the
variables imputed, in addition to the values for the variables not imputed.
Such data has many variables (some numeric, other factors), and more than
20000 observations. I do not know how to average them out. Any help?
Below I provide a small
