similar to: ogg123 oss plugin plays garbage

Ogg123 plays too fast. Trying to listen to RMS talks at NYU and ogg123 plays at what seems to be twice the normal speed. I have searched the web and the mail archives here at vorbis but have seen nothing that resembles this problem. ogg123 -help doesn't clear things up for me. Could anyone please help? Are oggdec and ogg123 supposed to be able to extract or play audio from an Ogg Theora+Vorbis file? OggDec 1.0 and ogg123 from vorbis-tools 1.0.1 don't seem to be able to do so. If the programs are not supposed to do this job now, are any improvements planned so they can do this job in the future? Thanks for info on this.

Would a patch to ogg123 for using scandir(3) and alphasort(3) instead of opendir(3) and readdir(3) in playlist_append_directory() be accepted, or are those not sufficiently portable? On Linux, _SVID_SOURCE or _BSD_SOURCE is required to use them. This shouldn't be hard to implement and I'd like very much to have directories added to the playlist in sorted order.

Hi I have helped a user with a little patch for ogg123. He uses ogg123 for very big files, often more than an hour (blind books). When he breaks the book and later on want to go back to the same chapter, it is a little troublesome to calculate the seconds. Minutes is much more convenient as it is what is written on the screen. ogg123 seems to have a issue when streaming for long peroids of time. If I have ogg123 up connected to a streaming server for more than 3.5 hours it begins to stutter or add blocks of static. I just used ogg123 to play back a file encoded from a 22.5 KHz WAV, and it played twice too fast. Looking at the source, it seems that the sampling rate and number of channels are hard-coded into it. Speaking of ogg123 fixes and Solaris... <getopt.h> doesn't appear to exist in Solaris. Hence, ogg123 won't compile on Solaris at all (even with gcc). Halo vorbis devel team, I have a question concerning remote control interface in ogg123. I have searched this forum and Internet and found that in 2002 there was a patch made adding remote control interface to ogg123. My question is, if this will be included in the main trunk some day?
