connecting to windows server 2003 with samba 3.0.9
I have a Windows server 2003 Domain controller with a share called
DC02Data.
I can connect to this share successfully from several RedHat boxes,
running samba 2.2.7.
However, on several other RedHat machines, running samba 3.0.9 I cannot
connect properly. In fact, I actually seem able to establish a mount
successfully, but cannot then view the files, as shown below:

More plotting comments
None of this is greatly important but might be a bit useful to someone.
BTW, I have 0.99a installed, it compiled without a problem.
I've discovered most of the plotting facilities including the legend()
function and the various text annotations, this is nice an convenient
and flexible enough to do most things. One thing that I must say is that
the help pages on plot() and plot.default()

Suggestion for comments in data files (i.e. read.table)
I realise that there is an existing system for documenting datasets
but what I would like is to be able to whack a few lines of commentary
at the top of a file which contains data -- not full documentation but
just an outline for myself to remind me of what I was doing or what
settings I was using, etc.
I was thinking that the read.table() function might be extended to
support an option allowing

Call Forward and AGI
Hi
i have a agi script that gets called when a user wants to dialout
externally. it gets passed in the exten number and the number dialled
and looks up in a db to see if they are allowed to dial the number. the
problem is if someone forwards their phone to a external number the
CALLERIDNUM is the CLID of the calling party not the extension forwarded
thus the call is denied. Can anyone think of a

Avaya IP Office DTMF Issue
Hi
I have a client using a Avaya IP Office PBX that is taking a SIP trunk
from me terminating on a * box. It all works perfectly apart from DTMF.
Although you can hear the tones they don't seem to get recognised. I
have tried DTMF mode auto, inband, out of band and rfc2833 but no luck.
Any ideas?
Regards

AIC and significance tests
Hi
I have two geostatistical models from geoR. An ordinary kriging model with
AIC=-148.6 and a universal kriging model with AIC=-156.7, there are 345
data points. The improvement shown by the AIC by adding a trend component
to the model seems quite small given the number of data points, is there a
test to see if the improvement to the model fit is significant?
Thanks

Using the nls package
I'm a bit confused about the nls package, I'm trying to use it for curve fitting.
First off, the documentation for nls says ``see `nlsControl' for the
names of the settable control values'' -- this is wrong, it should be
nls.control (minor point but had me confused for a moment).
Now I'll try something very simple (maybe too simple):

TPROXY/IPv6: Documentation bugs?
In working through an IPv6/TPROXY issue I had, I believe I found a
documentation bug:

In the ACTION section, for part 12. SAME:
The documentation lists:

Dialplan programming vs. AGI vs. ???
This depends on your application. As you say you are able to do everything you require in dialplan at that is great. I have used AGI fairly extensively becuase the stuff I want to do can't be done in dialplan alone. For instance i have written a auto attendants that can be dynamically controlled by a non-techie user with real time and in call reconfiguration. Also i have written IVR apps that

ABX Samples?
Anybody know where I can find ABX samples (original and ogg) that used
RC3 or better encoding?
The only ones I've been able to find are RC2 (or RC1)
PS - on a side note, on pcabx.com's "very easy" training samples, I seem
to be completely deaf to the differences between the "Original" and
their "test" samples. (Distortion sample only), but I do hear

New code -- genetic algorithm curve fitting (supports complex numbers)
OK, here is some code that may be of use to someone:
http://www.progsoc.uts.edu.au/~telford/samples/R/gafit_0.1.tar.gz
Hopefully it might make contrib status on CRAN :-)
It uses a genetic algorithm to seek the lowest value of some
user-defined target function (or seeks the most negative value if negative
values are possible). By using a sum of squared residuals for the target
function, it

Interest in R plotting capabilities
I'm a scheme and C user generally, I'm a bit wary of the large FORTRAN
content of the R language but aside from that issue it seems nice and simple
and easy to use.
What I want to do is find some GPL software to replace gnuplot,
and since R does all the calculating stuff that gnuplot does (probably
R is faster though I haven't tested) plus R has quite decent
plotting capabilities I

Dial Plan Logic Problem
Hi
I can't for the life of me work out why this is not
working. When in the campon contect if you hit a DTMF
key 2 you get moved to the exten => 2 defined in the
mainmenu context not the exten => 2 defined in the
campon context. What is wrong? The same happens if you
hit key 1.

classed
For a long time now I've been using a function:
classed <- function (x, cls)
{
class(x) <- cls
x
}
as a utility at the end other functions to set the class of an object and return
the object. I've noticed examples where others have been doing a similar thing
and I think it would be a useful addition to R base (unless there is already
something there to do this - it
