lme confusion
Hi, this is my first time using the nlme package, and I ran into the following puzzling problem. I estimated a mixed effects model using lme, once using groupedData, once explicitly stating the equations. I had the following outputs. All the coefficients were similar, but they're always slightly different, making me think that it's not due to numerical error. Also, what is the

[PATCH] Remove even more CPP hackery
This commit will break OS/2's EMX 0.9d library (GCC 2.8.1) which has been been replaced by klibc. Considering the age of EMX and lack of testing and that klibc contains so many improvements I think this is exceptable. --- include/FLAC/ordinals.h | 17 +++++++++-------- src/flac/main.c | 2 +- src/libFLAC/metadata_iterators.c | 2 +-

os/2 support using Watcom
The attached set of patches adds support for OS/2 using Watcom compiler (tested with Open Watcom 1.9). My only interest was building a working dll (the last patch in the set adds a makefile for it), therefore I did not touch other places: If there is interest, I can do so. so current status of interactive PDF creation isl? trying to explore econometriic convergence thread
I think I just saw a thread go by on " how do I make interactive PDF from rgl output" but I ignored it at the time and can't seem to find consensus result on google. Essentially I wanted to create pdf or other output to share a 3D plot and let viewers interact with it but it still wasn't clear on easiest way to do this. Is this 2009 page the best reference?

Libtool doesn't currently and as flac uses libtool... Dave

[Patch] OS/2 port
[Repost, maybe it will get noticed with a better subject] So now beta 4 is out is there any chance you guys will have time to review some of my patches? Here's a simple one. It just adds the standard integer typedefs for EMX GCC. I've flattened the structure using #elif's so it doesn't get a level deeper for every platform added but the result should be the same. I realise

Full MVCC in Brass
I'm one of the developers of Notmuch, an email client that makes extensive use of Xapian. For some time, full multi-version concurrency control (MVCC) has been on our wish list. Olly mentioned that brass now uses free lists---a key step toward full MVCC---and I offered to pitch in on putting the other pieces into place. Before I wade too deep into this, I wanted to propose my plan. Full

Building vorbis - please help
I realize not many people (one :) ) want to build vorbis with BCB, but what about vorbisfile.c, os.h, oggenc.c, and getopt? And someone must care about the MSVC files. I really tried not to bring up any questions about BCB itself (although I had some). Please, someone, take a look at the original message, and excuse me if I'm too impatient...

Oracle database on zfs
Hi, I am wondering if there is a guideline on how to configure ZFS on a server with Oracle database? We are experiencing some slowness on writes to ZFS filesystem. It take about 530ms to write a 2k data. We are running Solaris 10 u5 127127-11 and the back-end storage is a RAID5 EMC EMX. This is a small database with about 18gb storage allocated. Is there a tunable parameters that we can apply to

No eth0 on centos 6.2
Just installed centos 6.2. I run and ifconfig -a I see and em1 em2 and lo interface. If I go to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts, I don't see an ifcfg-eth0. If I run ifup eth0 it comes back with "Device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization". Anybody have a clue? Thanks in advance.

Dovecot returns the same UIDL for another message
Hello, I have a serious problem with dovecot and mbox format. dovecot returns the same UIDL for new messages and as result some MUAs don't retrieve new mail. UIDs returned by UIDL command look like 000000*1c*49006cec And there is a moment when dovecot stops incrementing marked digits. In other words when new message arrive to mbox, UIDL command returns used UID. I'll show with example:
