Problems with Vorbis & Mac OS
I'm currently writing a (really simple) QuickTime component for playing Vorbis files, and I've run into a problem which appears to be in libvorbis, not in my code - it affects the sample encoder & decoder as well as my component. When I encode a file on the Mac using the sample encoder, I can decode it again with no problems. However, if I try to decode a file I've downloaded

Compiling against Mesa
I'm trying to compile wine but running into problems with mesa. The situation is I have a software-only version of mesa that Mandrake spewed all over /usr when I installed it and a "good" version in ~/stuff/Mesa-3.4/ that I've compiled to use glide and my voodoo2. So far I've only used this version to compile libraries that I stick into game directories as it doesn't

Vorbis On Macintosh
I doubt that their has been any development work on bringing vorbis to the Mac. I am trying to do just that. I want to know whether you think I should try to port it using the various components tht are being used to bring vorbis to Be and others OR if i should wait till September when the public beta of Mac Os X ( which is based on Unix). I have been told that unix stuff will be fairly

TDD for Rails book?
It seems like half the people on this list are writing a book on Ruby or Rails. For all the hints I''ve seen strewn across the list I have yet to see one that will focus on test-driven development for either Ruby or for Rails. If anyone is looking for a topic, please consider this. I''ve been trying to wrap my brain around the TDD process, but its way of thinking is

[LLVMdev] GCC/LLVM frame pointer incompatibility on ARM
Having a different code path for prologue just for the sanitizers sounds pretty risky to me. That code is already strewn with conditional and modal stuff. Adding another variable to the permutations scares me. Is there really no alternative? Conditional code in the sanitizers that figure things out? LLDB and GDB have a very similar sort of problem for backtraces, including when debug info isn’t

Update_attributes working, or not? I can''t tell.
I have a basic login system implemented. I''ve recently added a timestamp field "last_activity_time". During the login process, if I successfully get back a user object, I do this: user.update_attribute(:last_activity_time, Time.now()) It appears to be successful given the breadcrumbs I''ve strewn around it, but nothing gets written out to my table. Can not find hvmloader in /usr/lib/xen/boot
Hi all: I am installing Windows XP SP2 on xen 3.0.4 with a VT able machine, but I can not find hvmloader in /usr/lib/xen/boot。I installed xen from source code, compile it, build it and installed it, does this matters? Then I installed xen 3.0.4 in Fedora6 by yum install xen* and copy the hvmloader to the former machine, It looks like winxp was started, but when I use vnc to connect to winxp, the

[LLVMdev] GCC/LLVM frame pointer incompatibility on ARM
Would they be willing to have a flag? Would we be willing to have a flag? Or should we conditionalize this on OS and say, on Linux, do the gcc thing, and on OS X, do the LLVM thing? [OT] How do I convert maildir to bsmtp format?
Here's what I'm trying to do. I have a spam filtering operation as a front end for other servers. I've created a virtual server for spam storage where the user will be able to log in using squirrelmail/dovecot to review and release their spam. The email is stored in maildir format. Piecing it together I can use squirrelmail to pipe the email into something so that if a use finds a

plotting confidence bands from predict.nls
I am trying to find a confidence band for a fitted non-linear curve. I see that the predict.nls function has an interval argument, but a previous post indicates that this argument has not been implemented. Is this still true? I have tried various ways to extract the interval information from the model object without success. My code is: Model.predict <- predict(My.nls.model,

Looking for a life-save LVM Guru
Dear Chris, James, Valeri and all, Sorry to have not responded as I'm still on struggling with the recovery with no success. I've been trying to set up a new system with the exact same scenario (4 2TB hard drives and remove the 3rd one afterwards). I still cannot recover. We did have a backup system but it went bad for a while and we did not have replacement on time until this

Using Predict and GLM
Dear R Help, I read through the archives pretty extensively before sending this email, as it seemed there were several threads on using predict with GLM. However, while my issue is similar to previous posts (cannot get it to predict using new data), none of the suggested fixes are working. The important bits of my code: set.seed(644) n0=200 #number of observations

curve25519
I have developed a compact at the same time high performance library for curve25519/ed25519 and I have placed it in the public domain. It support DH key exchange as well as ed25519 keygen, sign and verify. The implementation is constant-time, supports blinding, bulk-verify and more. The library is available as portable-C as well as ASM for Intel-x64 CPUs. It outperforms curve25519-donna by a

NetworkWorld article on Open Source Telephony
An interesting article for those needing ammunition to sell Asterisk within their organisation or to others: "Is open source IP telephony ready for prime time? Yes" by Zenas Hutcheson, St. Paul Venture Capital Network World, 06/07/04 http://www.nwfusion.com/columnists/2004/0607faceoffyes.html On a related note, they also have an article arguing the contrary position (see link within

Fax Configuration
What is the best way for me to setup Fax Capability with VOIP only. I have a Asterisk Server hosted on the internet without a modem. I'm using Flowroute, which is working awesome, for VOIP calls. I only have a SIP Phone at home and two Printer/Scanner/Fax Printers. I'm not sure which Fax Addons or Extensions I should use for Asterisk. I'd like it to Self Detect on any line. I
