New version vorb_enc.dll
Hi all, I've just posted another version of vorb_enc.dll (w/source code) at http://xtractor.sourceforge.net/vorbdll-20000626.zip It will still work as a drop-in replacement for bladeenc.dll (just rename the files that your ripper creates from MP3 to OGG), but will also accept info for the ogg comment header in the vorb struct in the format union of the BE_CONFIG struct. I'll be

Ogg icons / glyphs -- use of copyrighted images?
Do we have a standard icon and/or glyphs identified for GUI-based applications? I'm adding Vorbis support to CDMaster32 and I'm finding I'm in need of 17x17 glyphs (.bmp) to graphically show progress of OGG files. Has anyone thought about this? If not I was thinking of modifying/reducing the Xiphophorus "fish" logo to use in my application; however, since the xiph www site

Compiling ogg lib on VC6...
Hi Kovacs, >subj. I can compile the library on vc6, but it seems that it doesn't >export anything. Has somebody similar experience? I've built it using VC6, though I didn't use the project files in the vorbis_vc6 subdirectory, so I can't comment on them. You should be building the library as a static library, and not a DLL -- if you want to build the library as a DLL,

thoughts about MP3 -> OGG convertor
Everyone here already knows that convertings mp3s to oggs is a very bad idea. However many users don't care and will find a way to convert anyway. I propose that there be a tool to automatically do it that comes with vorbis-tools, that way it can automatically tag it as SOURCE=MP3 (or whatever). Of course we should have it emit a warning that it is bad to convert from mp3 to ogg but users

Announce: VCE v0.1.1
Hi All, I have released VCE v0.1.1. It is primarily a bug fix/cleanup release. I recommend all users to upgrade (It's only a 50k download). VCE is still lacking UTF-8 support. This is planned for the next release. I have already got UTF-8/unicode working on my Windows 2000 box. I just need to get Win 95/98/ME to work. VCE needs an icon. If anybody has a good icon, design, or idea please let

Artist and title info
>Tracks get listed like that in all players. >Since I'm not on the dev team, I'm assuming it's only for the beta, and >only >while they are still working on a tag system. Actually, artist and track info can be stored in a file, and if it's present I know that at least the WinAmp plug-in can read and display it. It's really just a matter of the encoder storing

MP3 encoding of Monitor files
I have having problems trying to take a file recorded with Monitor and convert it to MP3. When I use 'play' to play the .wav file, it sounds fine. After bladenc'ing it, it plays at lightening speed, and the voices are all high pitch. I tried using sox to resample to 32000 before encoding, but that didnt work either. Do any of you convert your .wav files to mp3? Monitor call:

Winamp output plugin build problem
Hello vorbis-dev, I'm trying to build the Winamp output plug-in from some source I culled from the mailing list archives. The compile is failing since I'm missing a structure call info_A. Can anyone lighten my darkness? Best regards, Andy --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list,

Vorbis Tools are open!
I'll be out for the next 3 weeks, away from a net connection. So anyone who wants to improve my Vorbis Tools package, please do because I am not, and send any patches to Monty or somebody else with commit access. Have fun, Kenneth --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/

Vorbis support in BladeEnc
Hi everyone, My name is Tord Jansson and I'm the creator of BladeEnc. I'm very delighted to see that someone has created an open and patent-free sound format which seems to have the qualifications to be on par (or beat) even the best proprietary formats. Congratulations to everyone involved! I would like to help making Vorbis a popular format for compressed audio and have been thinking

DShow Filters - "Play to" support in WMP
Hi! Apparently the current DShow filters (https://xiph.org/dshow/ , Version 0.85.17777) don't allow for flac files to be streamed over DLNA from Windows to DLNA devices (like a TV set with WLAN). I use Windows 8.1 64 bit and while Play-to works with mp3 and other "natively" supported files, it does not works with flac files. (I can play them locally in WMP, just not send them over

Theora DirectShow filters assembly
Hello everybody, I intend to use Theora as a live video codec in a research project. This project is based on live video broadcast over a poor/slow link, which means lots of frames lost and low bandwith. Until now, it used XViD codec for video compression, which is a working solution but a lot blocky. I made some test with Theora and it looks better in a similar situation. Now, I would like to

Attn Packagers: Dependency change from gstreamer-0.10 to gstreamer >= 1.0
Hi all, The next release of Wine will include a commit which changes our winegstreamer dshow module to use the modern gstreamer 1.0 API instead of the long-deprecated gstreamer 0.10 API. dshow is used by some games and applications, including Microsoft Office, to display videos and play audio. Wine's winegstreamer allows applications that use dshow to support a wide variety of media through

ffmpeg2theora bugs ?
Hi, we are using ffmpeg2theora as encoder for a new project. We are finding problems during the conversion step with different type of input compression but, for now, in AVI container. In many case an error generated by ffmpeg lib produce a stop in theora lib (we suppose) Here an example: D:\tmp\ffmpeg>ffmpeg -i f:\vi1.avi vo1.avi ffmpeg version 0.4.9-pre1, build 4743, Copyright (c)

can't stream Opus in CAF format
Using FFmpeg, I can stream to a file on disk okay: c:\apps\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe -f dshow -i audio="Line In (Realtek High Definition Audio)" -c:a libopus -ac 1 -b:a 32000 live.caf But, if I add Icey metadata, FFmpeg throws errors: c:\apps\ffmpeg\bin\ffmpeg.exe -f dshow -i audio="Line In (Realtek High Definition Audio)" -c:a libopus -ac 1 -b:a 32000^ -ice_name

[PATCH] Various website edits
Hi all, One again a few patches that are too large to send directly over the mailing list (because of the blobs, large differences etc.) 1) Removes the russian part of the website, because it is 10 years out of date (FLAC 1.1.0) 2) Gives the website a maximum width, because at large screens it tends to become unreadable 3) Completely overhauls the links pages: new devices that support FLAC

Thank you for the hint. Setting PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/lib/pkgconfig before ./configure works for me.
