I hope it isn't too confusing to everyone posting my responses here. Monty requested this thread of discussion be moved to this list. What is and what should never be
There seems to be a great deal of talk about adding every conceivable type of metadata to vorbis. Everyone sees this as an opportunity to add the little obscure feature they've always wanted. I don't know if Monty will agree, but I think for the most part this transcends the scope of vorbis. I think it would be much more appropriate to create some sort of general-purpose framing format

xmms module
Okay, here's my first hack attempt at an xmms module. I managed to link (although not test) this with the current libvorbis CVS source (which needed some "help" compiling) and xmms 0.9.5.1. I'm guessing I made some fairly obvious mistakes in here which can be hammered out even without bitstreams to test it on. Tony Arcieri <HR NOSHADE> <UL> <LI>TEXT/x-csrc

about mantelhaen.test (PR#7779)
Full_Name: Chien-yu Peng Version: 2.0.1 OS: Windows XP Professional Submission from: (NULL) (140.109.72.181) Dear all: Although I don't know you, I am thankful for your help. When I use the function mantelhaen.test for R x C x K (R, C > 2) table, the output is not the same as SAS's. I don't know that the result consist with one of SAS's. But it works correctly for 2

SEMI OFF-TOPIC - Fail2ban
I'd suggest taking a look at the free edition of SecAst (www.generationd.com). It handles these messages perfectly (and can also use AMI security events) - so you don't need to constantly be updating fail2ban rules. It's a drop in replacement for fail2ban. -M- P.S. My opinions are my own and do not necessarily represent those of my employer. As an employee of Generation D

Hello; Did you remember to uncomment the dateformat in /etc/asterisk/logger.conf? That's necessary for fail2ban to work. How to pass a character argument which contains expressions to arg.names in barplot?
Hi all Can anybody help me with this? I am trying to include in an automatic way the argument in arg.names in a barplot. I generate the labels I want to appear below the bars with a for loop, and they contain subscripts, so I need to use expression anch<-0.05 esp<-4 for (i in 1:dim(Ntot)[1]) { naux<-Ntot[i,] naux2<-naux[naux>0] nind<-which(naux>0)

Zero distance error in corSpatial - correlation structure using lme
Hello, I am having a problem specifying the correlation structure in lme which leads to the error: Error in getCovariate.corSpatial(object, data = data) : Cannot have zero distances in "corSpatial". I have specified a grouping variable which is the only fix I could find by searching this error on R-help. ISee the below example. When my samples (tran) - which are transects

Fwd: Maintaining capacity during deploys
We''re using unicornctl restart with the default before/after hook behavior, which is to reap old Unicorn workers via SIGQUIT after the new one has finished booting. Unfortunately, while the new workers are forking and begin processing requests, we''re still seeing significant spikes in our haproxy request queue. It seems as if after we restart, the unwarmed workers get swamped by

semi-on topic -- textmate question
Apologies in advance. I have been using textmate and am getting to like it more and more. The feature that is turning my crank and frothing my coffee right now is "snippets". Wow! Is this ever cool! And if you aren''t using Textmate, give it a try. Anyhow, my snippets are saving me so much time and so utterly wonderful that like other things in my life that are in

Equations as arguments to functions
I am trying to pass an equation as an arguement to a function, which seems pretty straightforward given lazy evaluation. I constructed the following little test to make sure I sort of knew what I was doing: go <- function(X,eq) { C <<- X*2; d <<- eq} a _ rnorm(100) go(10,eq=a[.5*length(a)]+C+1) > C [1] 20 > d [1] 21.10551 > a[.5*length(a)] [1] 0.1055086 Everything
