several questions
VorbisHi
Any help is appreciate.
I have two questions.
First, I looked into the vorbis-?-specific and was confused by the floor1 algorithm.
I think at last the aim is to derive the piecewise curve with the list X and Y,then when encodering ,why not
use the selected point orderly to get the curve ? In other words, the specific use the list of [0,128,64,32,96,16,48,80] ,
why can not use

***SPAM*** encoder flow chart
Hi
Any help is appreciate!
These days I studied ogg vorbis encoder with sample rate 44.1kbsp,and I thought the whole chart was as follows:
1. read the PCM data and store them in a buffer
2. do MDCT on those PCM data
3. do FFT on those PCM data
4. use both the FFT and MDCT coefficient to the psychoacustic modle and derive an maximum allowable noise curve,
and during this curse ,do the

***SPAM*** help
vorbisHi
Sorry if it is too stupid to ask the following questions.
I am just confused by the pychoacoustics model. I think the computation in the psy.c is to
derive a curve which stands for the threshold for the mdct coefficient. Is it right ?
If it is right , then what can we do with the curve ? I refered to several articles and find the aim of
most pychoacoustics model was to derive the SMR

***SPAM*** pre-echo preventing
Hi!
Dear all
I compressed an audiu(wave) with libvorbis1.1.1 and found that the pre-echo was longer
than the one which was compressed with MP3 at the same bitrate(128kbps),I am now
confused aboout the pre-echo preventing scheme.
Can you tell me what method does Ogg Vorbis adopt besides the auto windowsize switch?
Looking forward to your letter!
Thank you!

***SPAM*** questions
HI
I am confused about the psychology acoustics model. How can we decide which window to use?
I looked into the procedure, but just confused . can you tell me the basic flow or give me a flowchart?
Thank you!

Can any one explain me basic concept of Floor

Clarification on code books usage.
Dear All,
As i have understood it , the Huffman codebook uses a huffman code
present in the bitstream ( lets us say it is decoding a floor 1 Y value
using the specifed codebook number ) to walk through the huffman code
book tree till it hits a leaf node which is nothing but the entry number.
If we consider our floor 1 Y value example , this entry number is
directly being used as the Y value.

Floor 1 Decode
Dear All,
Floor 1 decoder uses FLOOR_fromdB_LOOKUP table. The purpose of this table
is not clear to me. It is also not explicitly explained in the vorbis
specification.
As i have understood is that it is used to dequantise the "Y" values
which are decoded from the bitstream during curve synthesis. Is this
correct ?
If so why does the table have only 256 elements ? This would imply

Hi
Any help is appriatiate.
I download the libvorbis-1.1.1 and find it support 2 channels only,is it
the truth or i just made a mistake?
i think the psychology model is model?,why not use model ?? is it because
the patent question?
Thank you!

Fwd: missing directX during installation
Hi
Try installing it in win98 mode - run winecfg and change the default to win98.

Square Polar Stereo Coupling
Hello,
I've read http://xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/stereo.html and the Vorbis specs,
but I haven't got a clear concept of how does the Square Polar Mapping
works. I mean, in the "Ogg Vorbbis stereo-specific channel coupling
discussion" document, it's described how the decoupling process works for
Square Polar Mapping (and it is fairly clear explained), but it does not
describe

cor(X) with P-Value
Friends
I am new to R (and statistics) so am struggling a bit.
Briefly...
I am interested in getting the P-Value from cor(X) where X is a matrix.
I have found cor.test.
Verbosely...
I have 4 vectors and can generate the corellation matrix...
> cor(cbind(X1, X2, X3, X4))
X1 X2 X3 X4
X1 1.00000000 -0.06190365 -0.156972795 0.182547517

to stereo or not to stereo .. that is the question
hello,
a very short while ago there was a brief discussion when to use stereo
and when to use mono.
as you know, Radio France kept its word and now is webcasting in ogg. In
total Radio France (through tv-radio.fr/ycast.com) is webcasting eight
different stations, using the ogg format.
on http://cuba.calyx.nl/~oink/oggstreams/rfoggstreams.html you can find
all the streams with m3u files and

Mono encoding w/ a stereo source.
Crew,
I've run into something a little odd with the vorbis encoder and would
like some input.
I use SpacialAudio's SAM3 Broadcaster and am having problems with the
ogg encoder when I create a mono output stream. It seems as if the
signal level of the left and right sides are being combined before the
encoding process, leaving the sound muddy and overdriven. As such, if I
reduce

Why Point-Stereo at 160 kbps ?
Hi there !
I checked Vorbis' performace for mono files at
approx. 64-80 kbps (it does a good job) and I'm
wondering why the current OggEnc still uses
Point-Stereo (>10kHz) for -q4 and -q5
I know, we're usually unable to percieve those
phase correlations above 10 kHz, But a
Dolby Prologic Decoder isn't.
I think a future version of OggEnc which is able
to use a user-selectable

Stereo changes in exp_stereo
Hi,
I've been doing several stereo changes in the exp_stereo branch and I
think it's now ready to be merged. Could everyone who care about stereo
try the exp_stereo branch and report any problems before I merge it in
the master branch?
Thanks,

Stereo <-> Mono
Hi,
Does Celt (in particular version 0.7.1) exploits correlation between the
two channels in stereo mode?
In practice, is it possible to use the two channels as two mono signals
without affecting quality?
Thanks

Artifacts in One Channel of Stereo C55x Implementation
Hi guys,
I am on a C55x stereo implementation of CELT 0.7.1; I am using 100 sample
frame size and writing 58 Bytes per Packet. At the output of the decoder I
see one channel reconstructed perfectly, but the other channel has random
corruption that appears to be a sinusoid with a period of the frame size.
The artifact is non-periodic and appears to happen randomly during the audio
stream.
Anyone
