Hi,
How does vorbis encoder decide upon the variable block/frame size length?

Basic Doubt on Packets and Pages
Hi All,
Sorry if this is too much silly. Vorbis encoder gives
out packets of information.
1. Is it that each packet contain information of one
frame/window either 256 / 2048 or any length set by
encoder? If yes then the encoded packet will be
variable in length.
2. Every packet is divided into segments, how does the
encoder decide on number of segments in each packet?
It must be dependent upon

Granule Position Information:
Hi,
If this is true:
"Granule Position Information in Ogg Header is a hint
for the decoder and gives some timing and position
information."
So say if granule position is 10000, it means that
10000 PCM samples are encoded in this page
approximately.
If this is true we can neglect this information, it
will not effect the decoding right(but might effect
for streaming)?

Muxing vorbis in WebM
Hi Vorbis-Dev,
I'm investigating various WebM/Vorbis bugs in chromium. AFAIK muxing Vorbis
inside of WebM does not have an official specification, so I'm using
ffmpeg's implementation to try to answer 2 questions:
1. Under what circumstances is it valid to find WebM Blocks containing
Vorbis data with zero duration? (This would mean the next Block in the
Cluster has the exact

Frame in Mpeg and Window in Vorbis
Hi All,
MPEG L3 has a fixed frame size of 1152 samples which are fed to the encoder and vorbis has a variable winow size ?????? is this correct ?
Frame in MPEG is window in Vorbis ??
I guess iam making a mistake somewhere? Can some one correct?

BARK implementation (or specification) error
Hi,
In the course of some work which I describe below, I have found a very significant difference between the BARK function described in the Vorbis specification and its implementation in libvorbis.
In the specificationhttp://xiph.org/vorbis/doc/Vorbis_I_spec.pdf
bark(x) = 13.1arctan(.00074x) + 2.24arctan(.0000000185x**2 + .0001x)
In the libvorbis code

Doubts in codebook decoding
Hi,
I am trying to implement ogg vorbis real time decoder on SHARC ADSP 21364
processor.
I am writing my own version of the decoder using the documentation
vorbis_I_spec.pdf from xiph.org. However I am facing certain hurdles in
floor curve decoding during audio packet decode. In the spec it says that
[cval] = read from packet using codebook number [so and so] in *scalar
context*.(page no 43).

Ralph, thanks for your help.

AW: packets and OGG pages
Thanks for your replys.

OK, since I only want to read / write the Vorbis comments, I can limit it to the Vorbis header packets.
http://xiph.org/vorbis/doc/Vorbis_I_spec.html stats that the comment header always begins on the second ogg page. Since the length of the precedent identification header is fixed, this even is a fixed offset

Again: Next libvorbis release?
Hi there,
I maintain the libvorbis, libogg and vorbis-tool package for Fink <http://finkproject.org/
>. Recently I had time to wonder about those again. In particular,
since I was informed libsndfile self-tests fails with 1.2.0, but not
with a version dubbed 1.2.1rc1 somebody sent me. Also trunk seems to
contain security fixes.

Multiple Code-book Setup
Hi All,
I believe thr is only one Probability and Code book
per logical bit-stream, and if chaining exists then we
may have multiple setup's. Is this right?
In short for a logical bit-stream we get only once
1. Identification Header
2. Comment Header
3. Code-book Setup Header
right?

Mapping = 1 Ambisonic Vorbis flag
Where can I find the Header file or whatever which specifies the "Mapping" flag.
In feb - apr 2007, there was a lot of discussion about Ambisonics and Monty kindly stated that
Mapping = 1 ; Denotes and Ambisonic file as opposed to = 0 which is 1 speaker/ 1 channel
Has this been written explicitly into the standard?
Which standard should I be looking at?

Question about the identification header
Hi,
I'm writing a little API in java that read/write ogg's comments (in the
comment header), as well as reading the information header. All the
"read" part is done and is working well, but I am having a little
problem while coding the "write" part of the API.
In the docs (I use
http://www.xiph.org/ogg/vorbis/doc/Vorbis_I_spec.html#id4726648), I
