Compressing small (<2k) .wav files
Hi, When I used oggenc to encode small PCM wav files (eg <2k), the size of the .ogg file is usually larger. I assume this is because of some sort of header or dictionary that gets placed at the beginning, and some technical reason. Is there any way around this? Its not a big issue for me, since most of the files I compress are much larger, and the compression is good. It would be clever

Skipping with vorbisfile playback using DirectSo und
Sounds like either your machine is too slow or you have some other buffer issue. A decode thread is usually ideal so that data can be decoded before it is needed by the buffer fill operation. You might be able to get a sasifactory solution by increasing the number of buffers and using them in a round-robin fashion 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4. Wouldn't do any more than 1/4 sec per buffer. Cheers, Chris

c# source to interop call vorbisfile.dll
Hi, Can anyone tell me where I can get sample C# code to call the native (win32) dll vorbisfile.dll to decode a vorbis Stream? I want the native performance of this methodology, however Ive tried porting the invocation code to C# and keep getting null reference errors when Calling ov_open_callback. library of ogg vorbis encoder
Hello, I have succeed in compile oggencoder to create ogg enc.exe, but I have put libraries in my visual c++ project( ogg_static_d.lib vorbis_static_d.lib vorbisenc_static_d.lib). What are these libraries? What does they contain? In my visual project, I have just audio.c;encode.c; getopt.c; getopt1.c;oggenc.c;platform.c;utf8.c in the source files. I don't know where are the files (MDCT.c; PSY

Skipping with vorbisfile playback using DirectSound
I'm having a problem trying to write a simple vorbis file player using DirectSound. The decoding portion is pretty much straight from the vorbisfile sample code. The pcm data gets put into one half of a DirectSound buffer, and as that half is playing, the next half gets filled. The problem is, there's skipping and some noise when the file is being played (although some of the music is

ACM work
Hi (again), I started to work on an ACM (Audio Compression Manager) for FLAC. I currently only have the canvas. The encoding/decoding is not done yet. So it's completely useless. But since the canvas is the harder thing to start, here it is. (just in case I don't have time to continue) http://mukoli.free.fr/flac-ACM.v0.1.0.zip

Problems using vorbisfile.dll
Hello. Not certain this post belongs here, got a little confused about vorbis-dev / vorbis. If it doesn’t, please tell me so :) Well, on to the problem. I’m adding ogg support into an audio-player. For some reason I want it using vorbisfile threw the dll’s. It works just fine with the debug dll. No problems what so ever. But with the Retail dlls, when I call ov_open my memory gets messed up.

is there a global approach for reading wave files and feeding them to the encoder? thanks! Jonny -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://lists.xiph.org/pipermail/speex-dev/attachments/20061124/aef2c336/attachment.html

Speex, what container?
The aplication that I am developing is like a sound recorder (goes directly to the soundboard and start capturing the sound and writing the file, using the directsound api). I'm already capable of writing to normal wav files but I wanted to encode the audio with speex to have smaller size (and still good quality). How can I write the wav files with speex content using the ACM codec? (like

Ogg Vorbis and DirectSound streaming
hi, I downloaded the vorbis-sdk-1.0rc3 and wrote an application that plays ogg files using DirectSound(win32 application). It uses streaming technique - I'm implementing and passing IStream interface to the DirectX. The interface is used by DirectX to fill his buffers during playing. DirectX is assuming that it's readind from a wav file, so the interface decodes on-the-fly so that

[PATCH] for flac/decode.c
The commit http://git.xiph.org/?p=flac.git;a=commitdiff;h=99257e177eac96fa41a107b423080232f59ebe45 also requires some changes in write_iff_headers() function: currently flac don't write WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE header if decoder_session->channel_mask is equal to 0, 1 or 3. After the commit 99257e17 flac should do this for channel_mask equal to 0, 4 or 3. The patch fixes this.

Ogg Vorbis, DirectSound and Delphi
Hi, I've just downloaded the Ogg Vorbis source, LIB and DLL files from www.xiph.org and I've been trying to get them working in Borland Delphi 3 Pro. Has anyone managed to get OV to decode and play an OGG file using Delphi? Ideally I'd like to use DirectSound (part of DirectX), via the UnDelphiX (DelphiX with the JEDI headers) components. Also, if I choose to sell a

Documentation Suggestions
I'm a developer for a game company and I'm almost done adding support for Vorbis to our game engine. As such, I wanted to simply plug in the read function, let it decode, and then send the PCM data on to DirectSound just like I always have. There were several occasions where I spent 4 or 5 hours trying to fix a bug, digging through newsgroups and sound-format specs, when that info could

ACM Format Tag for Speex Audio
Hi, As a potential user of the Speex ACMs and DirectShow filters to come I am also curious about how many ACM codecs for Speex there are under development right now. Also, the WAVEFORMATEX structure must be planned so that it is extensible, with backward-compatibility, without having to ring back Microsoft for further WAVE_FORMAT tags. For instance, it is a good idea to put a flexible sub-format

The libraries that it uses are: ogg_static_d.lib vorbis_static_d.lib vorbisfile_static_d.lib When I try to build it, I get these linker errors: GameClient error LNK2005: _exit already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR71D.dll) GameClient error LNK2005: __exit already defined in MSVCRTD.lib(MSVCR71D.dll)

WAVE Format info
At the risk of throwing more fuel on the fire, I found the following document on the Microsoft website. It appears to be the file format counterpart to the API documentation presented by Chris Wolf. I'm not familiar with the WAVE format, so I'll let you guys interpret it (or tell me it is irrelevant): http://www.microsoft.com/HWDEV/audio/multichaud.htm [As an aside: Why does Microsoft
