Question about Ogg files Structure
Hi,
I bought an iRiver HP-120 which can read ogg files (via a hard drive).
Many people experiment that reading ogg file decrease the baterry charge
more quickly than with mp3 at the same bitrate.
The only raisonnable reason of that mysterious thing is that reading ogg
file is not sequential onto hard drive, and the hard drive head must
move more than for reading an mp3 at the same quality, and

Next Friday at 12:30 PM EDT: Asterisk Users Conference TDM inside and outside the box
Hi,
I am going to be on the road for the next few days and with the
variable delay on the mailing list, I am posting this now, 4 days
before the conference. If you haven't yet listened or participated,
please consider doing it. We have a great kernel of people at all
levels of expertise and ideas and questions can be kicked around
immediately (well, there's a few milliseconds lag).

Dovecot + Postfix postmulti SASL
Hello,
Our Postfix setup uses multi-instance feature. I would like to enable
dovecot SASL mechanisms in postfix. Open two unix sockets is not a
problem for us:

firewallchain issues w/ 1.0.0 release
Hi,
First, some software versions, just to get them out of the way:
- CentOS 5.x through Centos 6.2
- Ruby 1.8.5 - 1.8.7
- Puppet 2.7.19
- Facter 1.6.11
Just a note - we''re working from the EPEL repos almost exclusively.
I am working with the firewall module, and so far I am unable to use
firewallchain. Some digging suggests that it''s not completely user error
(though I

Does this compete with iPOD
I was saying before that I believe that the iPOD is a wonderful, but is
over-hyped, over-priced and over-marketed. I also believe that it is a unit
that is commited to control the market place, support iTUNES (for mediocre
quality downloads) and not support open source products like oog vorbis.
This look like and interesting unit that supports Windows and Mac and there
is NO software to install

SVN checkout problem
Hello
I have problems with checkout using SVN. I am following instructions on
page http://us2.samba.org/samba/subversion.html.
First of all DNS can't resolve name svnanon.samba.org. I checked
nslookup and dig on three different systems using three different
providers - my office, T-Online and Litnet. DNS servers for all three
providers responded that host name not found. I also got IP

rsync - umlauts and length of file name
Hi - I have implemented an rsync script that runs on a Leopard OS X
system and backup the local host itself, plus 2 remote machines -
another Leopard machine and a Win XP laptop. The remote backups are
performed by connection to an rsync daemon. I'm using rsync 3.0.4 with
a few extension for the Mac OS X side.
When doing the backup of the XP box I see these error messages:

running at 44.1K but with standard frame sizes
Hi all,
I'm implementing the opus codec for a proprietary RF link (for fullband audio) and want to make sure I understand something.
The link is currently running at 44.1KHz - realtime (i.e. streaming from an A/D at one side, ultimately to a D/A at the other).
Rather than muck with all the infrastructure, I'm looking at how to run Opus at 44.1K.
I have flexibility in the frame sizes of

Audio Speed Variability
I have a video conference like application that I've been working on for
a while now, and a recent change is causing some odd problems, and I was
wondering if anyone else had seen problems like this. The issue I'm
seeing is that when using the sound card for capture, the audio will
eventually get about 1-2 seconds out of synch (delayed), from the
video. However, if I use USB devices

Audio Speed Variability
John,
Thanks for the reply! You mentioned output sample rates should be 44100
or 48000, should I worry about input (Mic) Sample rates as well?
(Currently I was requesting the sample rate on both ends to be 16000
samplesPerSecond, for ease of passing into the codec) Also, do you
recommend any particular resampler that I should use, or are any of the
ones out there probably okay, or should

No subject
If later model badges run Linux, then it might be an ARM device (for example TI OMAP series). But it's highly
unlikely the badge runs x86-something as Intel doesn't have any chip that small and with that level of power
consumption. That's the basic reason why Intel isn't inside any smart phone.

Noveau Driver NVIDIA wake from standby display activation issues
Hi,
Turning off a connected TV, and then turning it on causes issues with re-negotiating a connection to the display.
The error message was pasted into an open document that was actively under edit with the program nano. I assume messages are sent from somewhere destined for stdout; or something has redirected it. Either way, I think this may cause issues with bug reports. It looks like a dmesg
