Josh, Macports on OSX ships with automake-1.10 and the current autogen.sh detects 1.10 as an invalid version of automake. The following patch (snarfed from autogen.sh from libvorbis) fixes that. The autoreconf tool is provided by autoconf to do what custom autogen.sh scripts in many projects used to do. Only it is more robust and widely tested. It has been available for several years, too.
