New Theora and Vorbis plugins available for RealPlayer 10
Hi All, I've just released new versions of the Helix Theora and Vorbis plugins. The major feature of this release is adding chaining support. The plugins play Vorbis only, Theora only, and Vorbis/Theora chained files. It also tries it's best to play files that mix these 3 types of stream groups. I have also fixed a few Theora bugs. The Theora plugin now properly honors the clipping

Status of Vorbis in Realplayer
Hi: I'm working with an internet station. The station manager and I firmly believe in Ogg Vorbis. We already run transcodes of the 56k MP3 stream so modem listeners have the opportunity to hear stereo. We'd like to change our primary stream to Vorbis ultimately, but that will involve overcoming a number of challenges, not the least of which will be getting all the broadcasters to

Helix and unrecognised streams.
Kind of an interim release, I have a copy of the Helix/RealPlayer Ogg plugin working in the presence of unrecognised streams, <href="http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~ibm21/omd_players/index.html#hxplugin> The patches won't go into Helixcommunity until I've put in a joint copyright document (and the stream end strategy patch still needs to be completed), but they can be GPLed so if

watching ogg/theora streams on win32 ?
Hi all, I wanted to give watching our stream a try. Illiminable, I downloaded your codecs, and installed them, but Windows Media Player still doesn't recognize the video in my test Theora video clips. It seems to play the audio part of it fine though, although it tends to crash at the end. I tried RealPlayer 10 and after some archive browsing I found the link to the plugins for it (why are

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello all, I am a little new to Linux so I would appreciate some assistance with this issue. I have been running a Helix server streaming RealAudio encoded content live and on-demand for a while. For the live stream, I use the Real equivalent to Ices which on the Helix platform is called SLTA. All the content on the server is encoded as RealAudio. I have also successfully setup an Icecast2

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello. I've made some progress on the issue. I found a tool called TrPlayer which is a text mode front end for real player - initially developed for the use of the visually impaired. The theory is that I can use this and pipe the live stream into vsound which then in turn is passed into ices or another source client. Trouble is, I'm having all sorts of trouble compiling Trplayer on the

Realplayer audio/video plays fast & noisy on nVidia HDMI connected to HDTV
Hello, This's my first ever post to CentOS lists. Sorry if I made any mistakes. My family is familiar with this RealPlayer Gold 11 and hesitate to use VLC or others. I googled a lot and tried different settings to no avail. Could you please tell me what I need to edit in order to slow down the audio/video playback of this old player? All other apps - even some older than Realplayer can play

hxplay versus realplay
Interesting. I downloaded and installed both HelixPlayer-0.4.0.187-20040615.i586.rpm and RealPlayer-0.4.0.186-20040615.i586.rpm on my Mandrake 10.0 system. With hxplay, the theora sample video, Mixtape.small.ogg, played as well as it does with mplayer 1.0pre4, which is reasonably well. But when I tried to watch it with realplay, the program choked and died. Also, when I tried to watch

Anybody tried implementing different streaming protocols yet?

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Well more specifically I want to transcode a realaudio stream into mp3 on the same machine and on the command line only - reliably! Following up, I managed to compile the trplayer using a substitute __pure_virtual function compiled with extern "C" (without it the function name was being mangled by g++) by now trplayer runs and exits without warning, error or success... the funny thing

Stream Phone Call: Sound on Consule OSS to Helix server?
Hello, I am working on a project for a client of mine, that involves streaming an incoming phone call. I have a lot of experience with Linux, but something that I have never attempted is using sound under Linux, as all my machines have been servers. Here is the plan, is it doable? The client (a minor league baseball team) calls in to a iconnecthere.com phone number, and Asterisk answers (this
