resampling to 48 kHz
One thing that has always bothered me about the ogg format is the distortion of high frequency sounds - even at data rates as high 128 and 160 kbps. I find the best way around this is to resample the wav file to 48 kHz (using SoundForge 6.0) before encoding (using CDex) to ogg. It takes a while, and adds a lot of extra wear and tear on my drive, but what a difference! The result is an 80k ogg file

The Hour of Slack (vorbis encoded)
For those who are interested, it's a weekly radio show produced by the Church of the SubGenius, presenting the bewildering doctrine of PatrioPsychoticAnarchoMaterialism, buried beneath a dizzying media barrage. Hosted by Rev. Ivan Stang, official show archives maintained by yours truly. Now offering 45k and 160k Ogg Vorbis files, listen in headphones: http://www.subgenius.com/ts/hos.html

KPFA live vorbis stream
I just joined this list, so I'm not sure how many of you are already aware of this. KPFA is a 59,000 watt free speech community radio station in Berkeley, California that has been on the air since 1949. They were the first listener sponsored radio station in North America, paving the way for many other community stations across the U.S. and around the world. KPFA was one of first signals to

CBC radio's science show archives Ogg
Earlier today while listening to CBC radio's national science show "Quirks and Quarks", I was pleasantly surprised to hear that their audio archives are now offered in Ogg, in addition to mp3 and real. This is the first CBC show that I am aware of that offers their archives in formats other than the usual real/wma/qt. For those who don't know, CBC is Canada's only

ogg player for mac
Hi Does anyone know of an ogg player for the mac (os 9) that actually works with icecast. I've tried audion, macamp, unsanity echo, and mint with no results whatsoever. They all play ogg files from disk, and all grab an mp3 stream from icecast, but as soon as I try streaming ogg they all fail to regonise it. (except for audion, which for some reason plays the stream as twice the speed?)

sppex player
Hi, You can also use the Java jlGui Music player (http://www.javazoom.net/jlgui/jlgui.html) with the java implementation of Speex (http://jspeex.sourceforge.net). This will play Speex streams and files on any platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows, or even inside a web page. Listening to Ogg streams with MacOSX
This comes from Indymedia audio list, Whamb! should probobally be listed on the vorbis.com software pages. ----- Forwarded message from nathaniel t <vsea75@hotmail.com> ----- The whole world doesn't use Linux or Windows. Some tiny fraction of computer users use Macs. I didn't realize until yesterday evening how difficult and mysterious it is to try to listen to an icecast ogg

I can listen to a stream locally but not from anywhere else.
Also don't forget that the full version of WinAmp is required to play oggs. The lite version doesn't support it. iTunes can play local .ogg files but not streams if you download the ogg components from qtcomponents.sf.net. I haven't messed with real player, and I have no intention of doing so. Joel Karl Heyes wrote: > On Mon, 2005-01-31 at 16:46, Brian Beck wrote: >

Ogg Vorbis Player(s)
Mr. Christopher Montgomery Lead Programmer Xiph.Org. <p>Dear Sir, I would really appreciate it if you could tell me which player(s) to use to listen to streaming radios broadcasting on the Net in the OGG VORBIS format. I understand that several French radio stations (France Inter, France Info etc...) are adopting Ogg Vorbis and I would like very much to try it. I have heard of several

reshape command is (stats) dropping instances
I would really appreciate it if anyone could determine what is going on with the following command. It is only half-working and is losing lots of data. For the life of me I cannot even see the pattern of what it is losing and what it is not. I am attaching the R data set which you can use with the Load Workspace menu function.
