MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Everybody,
It works with Peercast because Peercast receives the headers from Icecast2
and sends its own headers back to the client (Winamp, WMP, Real...).
Remember that Peercast is a client AND a server... I guess Peercast doesn't
send back the headers in the same way than Icecast2. Maybe Peercast doesn't
use ICY/X-audiocast.
Talking about Real (v9.0 and 10), I already got the

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Hi Stephan,
I am talking about the meta-data: Artist - Song. It's weird because you are
the second person on the list who doesn't get it working in Real... I just
tried again with "BEK_dns" and "Radio Alcanzando Naciones" the 2 first MP3
radios I found in the stream directory and everything worked perfectly for
Real (but not for WMP).
In RealPlayer, I clicked

gen-mpegurl.m3u source/making a clean weblink to broadcast
Hi guys. I've been running icecast for awhile, and just
upgraded to the latest version. Everything works fine,
nice work.
Here's the deal, I'm still not sure how to make a clean
link to my broadcast. On the icecast.org site, it calls
a cgi-bin file called 'gen-mpegurl.m3u.' This always
stars up my broadcast nicely.
Is there anyway to get the source code to

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Did you really see meta-data? Or did it show data from the playlist-
file? Or did you see the data (name and genre) provided in the http-
header upon connect?
E.g.:
http://www.shoutcast.com/sbin/shoutcast-
playlist.pls?rn=4219&file=filename.pls
Shows "CLUB 977 The 80s Channel (HIGH BANDWIDTH)" in WinAmp. But this
is due to the "title" set in the .pls and/or provided in

MP3 MetaData in WMP and RealOne
Maybe it works with WinAmp because peercast is received via a plugin
that supports this?
http://www.peercast.org/download.php
WinAmp 2.x/5.x:
- Self-extracting installer
- Installs WinAmp plugin client
- Enables peercast:// links
- Free. No adware/spyware
Allan, I assume you have a plugin installed for listening to
peercast?

Windows installer for Helix Vorbis & Theora plugins posted
Hi All,
I just posted Windows installer for the 0.5 release of the Helix Theora &
Vorbis plugins for RealPlayer 10/10.5 and RealOne Player. There are no code
changes from the 0.5 zip file that was posted earlier. I've just replaced the
zip file with an installer. You can get the installer at
https://helixcommunity.org/download.php/713/xiphplins_win32_0_5.exe

Winamp & Foobar2k are not major media players. I think around 70% of
all users either use Windows Media Player or the RealOne player.
Neither of which can play Vorbis streams, and this is a major hurdle in
the acceptance of Vorbis streaming. I keep telling people that plugins

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello.
I've made some progress on the issue. I found a tool called TrPlayer which
is a text mode front end for real player - initially developed for the use
of the visually impaired. The theory is that I can use this and pipe the
live stream into vsound which then in turn is passed into ices or another
source client. Trouble is, I'm having all sorts of trouble compiling
Trplayer on the

Installing a program with ies4linux
I'm under the assumption that I could use ies4linux to enable html in programs if I install the program with them. However, I have no idea how to do it. I have downloaded/installed ies4linux already (and installed ie6). I'd like to know since the program I am trying to get html in (RealOne Player) works fine, but when Gecko tries to load html it crashes and burns, and I was hoping this

Paul Saunders would like it if you can find it for his website, as well
as a download link for Helix for RealOne. I haven't tried that yet.

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Well more specifically I want to transcode a realaudio stream into mp3 on
the same machine and on the command line only - reliably!
Following up, I managed to compile the trplayer using a substitute
__pure_virtual function compiled with extern "C" (without it the function
name was being mangled by g++) by now trplayer runs and exits without
warning, error or success... the funny thing

Seeking in a static icecast stream
I currently utilize Icecast on my website, but I am looking for the same
kind of functionality as I get with realaudio server when I stream
static content - namely, the ability to seek, show the time remaining,
etc, especially with Vorbis audio.
I realize the intent of Icecast is to serve mainly live, streaming
content (or at least radio-style content), but I utilize it mostly for
streaming

Vorbis plugin for RealOne Player
Hi All,
I am trying to build an Ogg/Vorbis plugin for RealOne Player through the
HelixCommunity source. During runtime, however, I saw an access violation.
I did some debugging and narrowed it down to the following function in the
Vorbis source..
int vorbis_synthesis(vorbis_block *vb,ogg_packet *op){
vorbis_dsp_state *vd=vb->vd;
backend_lookup_state *b=vd->backend_state;

IceCast + Real Audio?
In the notes for 2.3.0 it says that IceCast can function as a
RealAudio/Helix server. Does this mean that it does the quality
negotiation as well, ratcheting the bitrate up and down if it needs to?
Or am I reading this all wrong?
Thanks.

vorbis vs. mp3 vs. realaudio
Hello,
how good is the quality with very low bitrates like 16kbps mono. 16
kbps files compressed with lame sound awful, realaudio is much better.
Will vorbis sound as good as realaudio with low bitrates?
How fast is vorbis (in comparison to lame).
