Listening to Ogg streams with MacOSX
This comes from Indymedia audio list, Whamb! should probobally be listed on the vorbis.com software pages. ----- Forwarded message from nathaniel t <vsea75@hotmail.com> ----- The whole world doesn't use Linux or Windows. Some tiny fraction of computer users use Macs. I didn't realize until yesterday evening how difficult and mysterious it is to try to listen to an icecast ogg

bit rate
It's technically good at streaming for broadcasters because, if it encodes something simple, it drops the bitrate and therefore our costs. And it sounds great too, but you wanted technical reasons... ! By the way, Virgin Radio UK's broadband streams are now proper stereo, instead of the suspicious mono-sounding version you had for the past few weeks - so if you want your non-technical

Virgin Radio launches an Ogg stream
Apologies if this is a bit of a commercial post (I've not been lurking long), but you might like to know that the world's most listened-to online radio station has just launched an Ogg stream. (As of today!) http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen/ogg.html (or alternatively www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen from a non MSIE+PC browser). Any ideas you have to help promote this

RFC: xml-like streams in Ogg.
Hello! I've played in the last couple of days with an idea of having (binary) 'xml-like' streams in Ogg. This would make possible having metadata: 1) be independant on the codec, 2) could be introduced at any time, not just in the header (consider e.g. while streaming radio statio you want to send the current's program name / the current song, etc.. with the stream without

OggDisk?
Hi! I've seen many new standards on the Xiph page. Have you thought about creating something like "OggDisk", that would correspond to CD, DVD, BD... disks? I mean data structure (propably on any filesystem) that could be used for audio and video (and perhaps for images too?). Desired features: - Ogg centric - designed to be filesystem/disk type independant (so that you can use

Fedora Core 5 Wine newbie
Hello, I installed wine via 'yum install wine' from my command prompt on a new install of Fedora Core 5 (everything was updated via yum before I attempted this), and everything went well with that. Then, when I tried to install a game that I saw was in gold status on the apps db, it went through a list of fonts and installed them or something, but it wont install the game. The CD is

The first is referred to as "server grouping". Streams that have the same Server

Virgin Radio Classic Rock now in Ogg too
Firstly, please excuse the crosspost to both the icecast and vorbis lists, and the slightly commercial nature of this post. Virgin Radio Classic Rock, which is a sister station to Virgin Radio, is now also available in streaming Ogg Vorbis. We also have 'now playing' information working on both services. Virgin Radio now on ices2 - yp not working though
This afternoon I've transferred our Ogg Vorbis Icecast2 streams from darkice to the ices2 encoder. Apologies if you were trying to listen; I had to stop and start the streams a few times. They should be stable now as I'm off down the pub now! As a reminder, the URL for the streams is at http://www.virginradio.co.uk/thestation/listen/ogg.html. Ices2 takes slightly different parameters to

libtheora 1.1beta1 release
All, After months of intensive development, we're finally coming to a stopping point in our rewrite of the libtheora reference implementation. All major features for the 1.1 are in, so it's down to bug fixing now. Please try this first beta and give us feedback. Most notable is that the encoder's rate control is much more configurable, and more capable in each configuration than

ogg_stream_pageout(): Weird Documentation (libogg-1.0).
Hello! Can someone tell me, what the return value of ogg_stream_pageout() _really_ means? Documentation (libogg-1.0 - 20000615) says: ... Return Values 0 means that there is not enough data yet to form a page. 0 means that the page was successfully submitted to the bitstream. ... Thank You very much!
