Extension proposal - partly serious
Alright folks, here's the solution. 1) Keep extensions to 3 letters for audio & video. Except for special situations where the user might be doing a codec specific name. Since the official extensions are 3 letters, those can always be used on any 8.3 device. 2) introduce a new extension .OGV for ogg container video. With a strong preference for Xiph only codecs. (If you want 3rd

Summary statistics across factor levels
R users, I intention is to calculate some summary statistics across factor levels. I know that in Hmisc package there is a summary function which produces neat summary statistics when using "cross" option. I would like to produce similar output with N and Missing columns but produce a data.frame. Is there any built-in function for that? #example data install.packages("Hmisc")

[LLVMdev] Problem with missing support for non-zero contant initializers.
Hi all. I'm working on a LLVM based compiler for the D programming language by Walter Bright. D allows static arrays up to 16MB in size. I'm initializing global static arrays with a constant initializer. But D requires that (per default) static arrays are initialized with the default initializer for the element type. For float this happens to be NaN, so I cannot use a

Significant digits for checking values of variable?
All, I'm witnessing some strange behavior when checking the values of one of my variables. My guess is that it has something to do with the number of significant digits being represented, but perhaps not as my variable was created from other variables that only had one decimal place. See below. I'm sure this is something basic, any suggestions much appreciated. Cheers, David >

Vorbis Players for Windows
Hi, I've recently put a few of my tracks online (http://livenraw.npfdd.ch/ for those interested; it's a solo-rock-performance by me) and of course I've used Vorbis for this. Now I had several reports on the topic "How do I play these ogg-things on Windows?". I've linked to http://www.vorbis.com/ but apparently this is not easy enough. One of my friends even told me he

Plugin Status
Hello, I have been using flac for some time and it works really great for me. I have tried the plugins for winamp2 and xmms and noticed that it does display the vorbis tags but you cannot edit them yet. It would also be cool to show some infos like md5sum, numbers of frames etc. in the plugin status window. Are these features under development or not very high priority?

Gnome switcher and gnome windows list
Hello, am I the only one experiencing some bugs with the latest git checkout in the gnome switcher and gnome window list ? When I click on one of the workspaces on gnome's switcher the cube doesn't rotate, but the windows disappear. I don't know how to describe it well, but it seems like the 4 faces of the cube in compiz and my 4 workspaces on gnome-switcher are now totally unrelated

Domain login delays w2k8 R2
Hello! We have a w2k8 R2 64-bit machine in a Samba 3.4.4 controlled domain. When logging in as a domain user there is a ~30 sec delay waiting for the User Profile Service. This has nothing to do with the size of the user profile. Looking at the network traffic I can see 2 gaps, the first about 11 sek and the second about 19 sek with no packets sent except one TCP ACK (from the client) in each

Latest switcher patches, bugfix.
I've attatched a patch to fix a bug in the latest switcher patches that got put into CVS. Basically, window order with minimized windows is undefined, and this fixes it. Also, I notice that in some cases switcher fails to get an icon for a window. Perhaps the icon code is forcing a search for a specific size, rather than 'best-fit'? Also, the patch allows usage of alt+shift+tab (in

0.7.6 Ring Switcher not initiated by <super> Tab
List, In checking ring switcher and shift switcher, it seems that the key bindings are off. For shift switcher, it still initiates with <Shift><Super>S, but no longer terminates with enter on the numeric keypad, only the normal enter key terminates it. For ring switcher, it is NOT initiated with <Super>Tab despite the key binding showing that it is. Instead,

Location of fileinfo
hello there, I just started using ogg files. And want to thank you all for this new format. I have written an addon for mirc (chatclient for irc chat networks) to play and exchange soundfiles and I am almost done with implementing the ogg vorbis format into this application. The mirc-scriptinglanguage provides me a command to read a specified number of bytes starting at a specified location of

Commenting switcher.c, switching between application windows.
Hello all. I'd like to implement the ability to switch between just the windows of the currently selected application (similar to the way OS:X does it) to switcher.c. As a part of actually understanding what's going on in there, I'll go through and try to write doxygen comments the switcher.c functions. Is there anyone else working on either the commenting or the switching parts, to

I've only got Gnome installed on my machine so I don't switch. A search of Google turns up reference to CentOS 4 for desktop switcher but I don't see anything for CentOS 6.3.

dropping id3 support
after spending a lot of time integrating X-Fixer's winamp2 plugin code, I am on the verge of removing id3 v1/v2 support from the plugins completely. it is really hard to get right in a way that works intuitively for the user, and i18n is also a nightmare. in id3v2 every field can have a different encoding. FLAC tag a.k.a. Vorbis comment support is very good now so unless someone comes up

OddcastDSP/Winamp2
Sorry for the long rave. I write Windows software for broadcasters (Radio & Internet) and in a newsletter I send out to my streaming clients I was recommending Ogg Vorbis/IceCast2 as the streaming solution for the future. All of my clients are using Windows and a lot of them are using Winamp2 for their broadcasting. Currently they would be forced to use the OddCastDSP. One client who should
