Ogg & MP3 mass tagging / renaming
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, as people here have asked (and also to enhance my ego :) I'm posting this here: I just released version 2.1 of mp3manage. Despite its name, it can also tag Ogg Vorbis files if you have a vorbiscomment binary >= RC2 in your path. Get it from http://sf.net/projects/mp3manage/files (SourceForge File area) or http://mp3manage.sf.net

RC3 Tagging/Encoding and Winamp answer
First of all, I'm using WinXP and love vorbis! :-) Since I just joined the mailing list, I figured I would answer the Winamp question. Winamp has different EQ algorithms - they have a "fast layer 2/3 EQ" option for mp3s, and they have a PCM EQ for all other formats (wma, ogg, etc.). While the mp3 EQ sounds ok, the PCM EQ (which gets applied to ogg files) is absolutely horrible. I

ogg files with spx and tagging
Dear Developers, I am currently involved in the co-ordination of archiving a whole heap of tapes containing audio (4000+ sermons for www.newcreation.org.au) to digital format. At present, all the tapes have been converted into mp3 @ CBR 40kbs, 44100 Hz... And this appears to play in most portable players capable of playing mp3's. (ogg vorbis isn't that widely supported, and many portable

.NET tagging library for ogg Vorbis
Hello, I've mainly finished the native ogg Vorbis tagging .NET library. It already works well for reading and writing the vorbis comments for the files I tested. The library only rewrites the entire file if it has to, and adds 2 K padding in this case so that further changes of the comments won't make it nescessary to rewrite the whole file again. I found out foobar2000 also does it this

AW: .NET tagging library for ogg Vorbis and ogg FLAC
Hello, I'm still working on the native .NET ogg tagging library. It already works well for non-multiplexed ogg vorbis, ogg flac and native flac files. Concerning multiplexed files, I've got two short questions: 1) Is it valid to insert an "empty" page into the stream which simply contains the binary value 0 for the page_segments counter, and which therefore contains no segment

[Flac-users] Can I use Vorbis comment on ogg - flac?
Hello flac-users, I'm storing my ripped CDs on FLAC until Vorbis 1.0 gets out (supposedly RSN). But I want to enter the vorbis comment just once. Since I'll use ogg bitstream for both files, I was wondering if I could use vorbiscomment or tOGGer on ogg-flac files? Is there any tool (besides de pipe) to convert ogg-flac to ogg-vorbis? Best regards, Alejandro Belluscio

MACOSX - Open program window maximized everytime...
Hi all, I've installed Wine on my Mac & I now have running a program called Tag&Rename, but unfortunately the window always opens in a smaller sized window & I have to everytime maximize the window, which I find bloody annoying. I've looked in the USER.REG file for Tag&Rename's settings but I can't see any there that are relevant, and I've also looked at

What tags are allowed in ogg files?
Hi, I'm writing a tag-editor for ogg files. What tags, besides ogg-tags, are allowed in ogg files (if any). I'm thinking of id3v1, id3v2, ape tags and so on. I have a (probably small) problem with writing a new "comment header". I have tried opening a file with a valid header, and then simply moved some of the comment tags position, so that the total size and the count still

Batch-Tagging oggs?
Hello all. Quick question ('Cause I'm famished and have to get something to eat) If I have a batch of files (wave and/or ogg) with a certain naming scheme. Would it be possible for me to write a small nifty (newbie) dos-batch program that could tag those ogg-files (or encode the waves with tags) with regards to the namin parameters. Let me clarify. I usually encode waves with the

Reading/Writing Ogg Vorbis tags from a Perl script
Hi, I wrote a quite useful perl script (and I am still working on it) that does all the renaming and tagging of my MP3 files automatically (which is very useful because I am an order fanatic and everything has to have MY format). I'm not quite done with ID3v2 support but that will probably work soon. As I am planning to start using Ogg Vorbis instead of MP3 in the future I am already now

Fwd: Re: [Flac-users] Can I use Vorbis comment on ogg - flac?
I was wondering if I could use tOGGer in ogg-flac files. So I asked Josh. His answer is quoted below (spoiler: doesn't think so). And when I tried tOGGer it didn't work. So I guess his right. But I wanted to know if his speculation is right (i.e. vorbiscomment saves comments in the first Vorbis packet). And if so why. I´m not sure how is Theora working. But it seemed logical to me that

PROPOSAL: Sub-Tagging
I mentioned sub-tagging in an earlier post. Here's a more in-depth mail on what i thought of. One of the debates going on here are whether ARTIST is worthy of life. Another is whether the average user will bother filling in the detailed info Jonathan wants. Of course, all tags are optional, but nevertheless we should have a tagging-system that pleases _the_users_, that is, everybody: 1.

Bass response with Ogg Vorbis
I'm a bass player, I admit it. I came across a number of people talking about bass response with Ogg Vorbis and it piqued my interest, I live for this stuff. I am using the Ogg files to distribute songs as converted right from the 32 bit masters. This is a much different thing than ripping a 16 bit CD audio file that has been mushed and compressed much before it winds up as an Ogg file. When

[Patch] for easytag tag editor to add speex tagging
Hi All, The following patch is for the http://easytag.sourceforge.net/ software to add speex support. Since easytag uses vcedit.c & vcedit.h that are directly copied from http://svn.xiph.org/trunk/vorbis-tools/vorbiscomment/ the diff's that I made to add speex support, i thought that the diff I made would very much apply to the vorbiscomment developers. I was personally thing that

Am I the only one who thinks this tagging debate is getting out of hand?
I'm just a causual reader of the vorbis@xiph.org list and lately its been flooded with this tagging debate(and the what, 5 threads its spawned?). I think that it is getting way out of hand. I personally don't have anything against the proposal(though i'm not for it) but lately I've been getting double the number of messages I usually do and its really starting to tick me

tagging parts
could somebody please advise me on the following thing: there's one ogg vorbis music file (a long mix). it is split into many parts with tobias' ogg cutter. the parts get tagged and the many files are again combined into one. the purpose of this would be that when playing back the such combined file, the player should display the individual tags while it's still a single track.

Fixing Ogg Vorbis files with incorrectly framed headers
Greetings. Possibly as the result of buggy tagging software, several hundred of my Ogg Vorbis files exhibit the following warning when examined by ogginfo: WARNING: Vorbis stream 1 does not have headers correctly framed. Terminal header page contains additional packets or has non-zero granulepos Nonetheless, most media players can play these files without any problem. A notable exception is
