Encoding or Playback problem?
Hi all, Have trouble encoding / playing back OGG using WinAmp + plugin. I encoded the files from .WAV with Ogg drop RC2. Seems to be ok. When I try and play them back though I get very very weird sound effects (some kind of "wobbling", some bass frequencies that are usually in the background seem to get more emphasised and they seem to have some kind of strange echo / reverb to it

And thats only a player. What about an (Open Source) encoder? Nah, I'll stick with OGG for the time being. Participate in listening tests
You know it's good; I know it's good. I'm talking about Vorbis at 128 as it currently is in CVS. Please participate in a group listening test of various formats to show how Vorbis 128 has improved since RC2. I have prepared three sample music clips comparing Liquid AAC, MPC, pre-RC3 Vorbis, Lame, Xing, and WMA8, similar to the first test. Except I believe that this time Vorbis

Suggestion!
Hey guys, Keep up the goodwork! I have a suggestion...why not make Ogg Vorbis streamable through QTSS or Darwin Streaming server. The people at Apple are willing to incorporate it I'm sure. Would be nice to be able to stream Ogg Vorbis from with QTSS or Darwin Server!! Lemme know what you think! Regards, Mark -- Mark de Bokx - Application Engineer Cistron Internet Services P.O. Box 297,

Query on image link file mode?
Hiya, will it be possible to add single song playback support like Monkey's Audio Image Link File to FLAC+CUE? This will allow the playing of single songs from 1 large FLAC file. Since FLAC can already embed the cuesheet inside the FLAC itself, the next step will be to allow the playback of the songs individually, allowing them to be added to playlists when playing singles. Please make

edirectory and samba
Essentially, at this point my head is about to explode. I have been able to update the most recent samba-nds.schema from the LDAP CVS at samba.org. And I can add posixAccount users with the LDAPTools. But I cannot add anyone as a sambaAccount (./smbldap-useradd -a "username"). Each time, it adds the posixAccount portion to eDirectory, and then failes the sambaAccount add portion. Is

Firewall & samba
Hi Just wondering if anyone could help with regarding the following. I have a number of Linux servers within an NT domain and I can access all of them. But I have a linux server behind our (raptor) firewall - samba has been configured on it and appears to be running. What I want to know is how do I access it from the NT domain. I know I will have to make some changes on the firewall - but how

required entries in ldap for samba...
Hi... I sucesfully linked my samba install with a ldap database, and smbpasswd -a works with user adds, etc. But - I know that in order to join the domain from WIN2K and XP I need to provide a username/password - exactly what ldif entries are needed in my ldap db for that? Is it 'administrator' with a uid of 0 - Can I use smbpasswd to make this, or ldif/ldapadd? Thanks.... --

Splitting Theora encoding into multiple tasks for Thoggen
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello all, I have been thinking about multiple core processors and how Thoggen (http://www.thoggen.net) encodes DVDs to Ogg-Theora files. I was intending to file a feature request that basically suggested dividing the total size of the target DVD by the number of logical CPUs and encoding each chunk of DVD as a separate task so that encoding could

most pointless mentioning/advertising of a format in a film i've ever seen
In the recent muppets christmas film, god (played by whoopi goldberg- or howevr u spell her name), mentioned converting her entire album collection (every album ever recorded. ever) to mp3 files. Now that is the most pointless use of advertising the inferior mp3 format i've ever seen. Now that we've started covering the use of vorbis in games, anyone spotted any reference (no matter how

a few questions
Hi there. I'm new to the list and I have a few questions about Samba. I've built a few Win9x/Samba networks, but I've been asked to build a Win2000/Samba network and I have a few issues. First off, is there some way with Win2000 and Samba to get a workstation independant login? Right now I have to create the user on the 2000 box for them to be able to login. Second, what is the best

[PATCH] Added NoDelay config option and nodelay subsystem option
Hello again! Since there was some resistance against adding TCP_NODELAY uncontionally, I've made another patch. The new patch contains the following: * Added a NoDelay yes/no (default no) config option to ssh and sshd * Added -oNoDelay=yes to the ssh command line for sftp. * Changed the sshd subsystem config option syntax from Subsystem name path to Subsystem name options path

Use of TCP_NODELAY in commercial SSH
In order to test my overlapping request path for sftp on another ssh server, I downloaded ssh2 version 3.1.0 from ssh.com. Having downloaded it, I decided to study the use of TCP_NODELAY in that implementation. Here's what I found: * Both ssh2 and sshd2 has a NoDelay config option which is false by default. * The ssh2 client does not enable or disable NoDelay because of a channel

Forwarding race resulting in lost data in openssh-2.9p2
When a TCP connection is established through a tunnel (e.g. using -L 2000:www.openssh.org:80), all data sent by the local TCP client is silently dropped until the sshd has opened the connection to the remote (www.openssh.org). This is very visible when forwarding to a remote host that is far away (i.e. has high ping time) from the sshd. I have attached a sample program that shows the problem.
