OGG not working in Windows?
I ripped (CDDA2WAV) and encoded (OGGENC) OGG files on my Linux box using
GRIP. The OGG files play fine in my XMMS on my Linux box. These are
all from brand new lib (rc2) compiles.
But no matter what I try, FreeAmp or Winamp (w/ plugin), they do nothing
on my Windows boxes.
Anyone? Thanks.

More pleasant / concise API
Hi there,
Just a small suggestion :
The following apis could be a bit more concise / shorter / pleasant I thought.
This is particularly difficult, my brain stumbles on this each time
when scanning thorugh the code :)
set_no_auto_load(true)
Could it be two apis instead?
auto_load
no_auto_load
and the other one :
worker_name :important_worker (no set_ prefix)
thanks,

Ever since updating from FreeBSD 11 to FreeBSD 12, I have experienced a
problem with samba. While still on FreeBSD 11, I configured a Windows

machine. That worked perfectly. No problems were detected and
everything was backed up correctly. However, after updating to FreeBSD

CoolEdit Pro 2000 Crashes Under Wine -- But Only For Me?
According to the application database at the Wine home page, other people
have successfully run the audio app. CoolEdit. On my Debian unstable
system Wine begins to open CoolEdit Pro 2000 ('wine
/home/tilleyrw/Cool2000/cool2000.exe') and then fails midway through the
initialization process with the following log:

CoolEdit success
I'd just like to post a little success story to cheer people up. :-) I'm
now able to run CoolEdit Pro 1.2 without problems. First I ran the
installation program with wine. Worked nicely. Then there was a problem.
When I tried to launch coolpro.exe it complained that it couldn't find a
dll called "pnc3250.dll" and therefore couldn't load the filter
"Ra3.flt".

Rsync utilization every 5 seconds
Hi.
I installed the rsync and I need it to run every 5 seconds between 2 machines.
I was planning to use it in crontab, but this allows only every minute.
I couldn?t find how to do it.
Could someone explain me how to run rsync automatically every 5 seconds?
Thanks in advance,

Problem with quota
Samba version 4.8.7, running on a FreeBSD 12.0-RELEASE amd64 system with a
ZFS file system.
I have a Windows 10 machine configured to do automatic backups to my FreeBSD
machine on a daily basis. Since updating FreeBSD, the following errors are
displayed when the backup begins. This is a truncated list.

Line-In Encoding
Hello,
I am working on Cirrus ARM-EDB 9302 and using speex-1.1.7. I have
tried encoding a wav file of 7sec long and it took 6 sec to encode it for
default settings of encoder with both files on the RAM.Next I tried
encodeing for 1 minute wav file and it took 2.2min for default settings. Why
is it that as size of input file increases, encoding time also increases
drastically?( I decoded

Currently I'm using "RBloomberg" package in R-2.2.1 in Windows machine (

RC3 killer sample?
I was able to ABX 60.wav from the lame samples up to q=5.9 (13/16 tries at
that quality level). I failed to ABX it at q=6.0 (8/16).
The sample exhibits a pumping artifact; a "fluttering", if you will, of the
amplitude. The effect becomes more pronounced as quality setting / bitrate
decreases.
Any thoughts?
Also - if anyone replies to this, could you CC me a copy? I'm not on the

Cygwin: Back up open files?
I have VSS snapshots created in a batch file nightly and then Rsync the
contents to a remote server.
The trick is to mount the VSS snapshot on and empty folder or drive
letter. I use a drive letter as mounting on an empty folder means that
the folder will be empty if the snapshot has failed (this causes the
--delete switch to empty the remote copy).
I'm struggling with Exchange 2003 syncs

Question on "Resource temporarily unavailable" error
I'm using rsync over an ssh tunnel to transfer some large files. I've been
getting the "Resource temporarily unavailable" in my rsyncd.log frequently.
The connections are T1's and very stable so I don't think it is a network
drop. The disconnect occurs on the same files every time...although these
files are also the largest ones taking the most time. I tried limiting

bassrumble, take two
Hi,
maybe this is of interest for someone out there. I found that taking the
difference between an original sample and its decoded Vorbis counterpart
is a cool way to mangle sounds (especially voice samples get a nice
weird touch :] ).
A side effect is that the result is not only exactly what information
the encoder omits, it also contains things that it adds to the sample
(artifacts). Leaving

Backup Microsoft Exchange
I am looking for a way to backup Microsoft Exchange servers offsite. I
am OK offering something like Backup Exec and doing a d2d then
subsequently rsyncing those backup files but it doesn't seem to sync
those files efficiently. Has anybody found a good solution for
something like this?

oggenc (small files)
I've had this problem encoding oggs where the output file is small, like
24kbytes for a 4 minute song (tested at 128 and 160kbit). I'm running
Windows 2000 and this has happened in oggenc, oggdrop, and CDEX, though I've
also been able to get good encodings with each of these. I think the only
clean encodings have been .wav's that I've made myself with SoundForge or

Dereverberation - is it work?
Hello,
I'm using Speex1.1.11.1 source code.
I enabled dereverb by speex_preprocess_ctl(). I try different dereverb_level and dereverb_decay values and it seems to not work. I generate some test files in CoolEdit using reverb or echo and then preprocess it by speex_preprocess(preprocess, input, NULL); and output is the same as input:(.
Denoising and VAD works very good. I tried dereverb with

Catching error messages (from nls(), e.g.)
I try to fit subsequentially different nonlinear models to data.
Up to now I tried a first model and if I could not fit this one
proceeded to another one.
Now I would like to handle this automatically. But much to my
chagrin I did not find a way for dealing with the error messages
from nls(), e.g. getting them as "control information" or at least
just returning from nls() without a
