vorbis.com
Form the vorbis.com homepage: "Ogg Vorbis does not compromise quality for freedom. Its stunning quality is coupled with aggressive features like fast bitrate scaling, surround channels, and fast sample-granularity seek and decode." This makes me wonder... -- What is "fast bitrate scaling"? -- I've never seen anything in the source supporting surround channels. -- I

Vorbis lib can't find ogg on RH6.2
Hi, I installed libogg-1.0beta4.tar.gz on a Cobalt server (Red Hat 6.2) and also installed libao-0.6.0.tar.gz for good measure. Here's an updated set of patches to fix some problems with the build process. These patches are relevant to the CVS head as of 30 Dec 2000. vorbis-tools-1.1.1 build mechanism stubbornly refuses to build with FLAC, ogg123, speex
Hello, I am trying build vorbis-tools-1.1.1 in the framework of my tool (see signature). The essence of the tools is that it builds and install everything locally, and, of course, it uses the available mechanisms to specify search paths for both headers and libraries; the tool first builds dependencies abd then the target itself. So, for example, 'configure' for vorbis-tools-1.1.1 is

Rhubarber (advanced peeler)
Hi all, [For the uninitiated: a "peeler" is a program that transforms a Vorbis stream into a smaller, (somewhat) lower quality Vorbis stream, and does so quickly, by just throwing out some data.] After having prototyped several peelers that aim to peel to a certain filesize, or to a certain quality, with mixed success, I've now taken a different route: a peeler that aims for the

ogg123 oss plugin plays garbage
I tried to use the current cvs version of ogg123 with oss output and the ogg just sounds like static. I wanted to document it on the list in case anyone else is having the problem. I can make ogg123 write wav files fine. Also Vakor does not have any trouble playing oggs with ogg123, so I am not certain what the problem is. I have tried compiling all of ogg vorbis (ao,ogg,vorbis,vorbis-tools)

_oggpack
Hello I am new at this. I have compiled the libogg and libvorbis libraries and installed them on my MacOS X machine. The libao cannot be compiled yet since stuff is missing. But I only want to play round with encoding right now. So I also unpacked the vorbis tools distribution and am in oggenc. In oggenc I do a cc *.c -I. -L/usr/local/lib -logg -lvorbis -lvorbisenc I get unknown symbols

several (different and seperate) compiling problems
I thought I had seen something about this earlier, but a search through the archives revealed nothing... first problem: Under Windows ME, using VC++6 (sp4), VC does not recognize the project files in the beta3 source tarball as being valid project files. it complains that they were not generated by VC++6, and would I like to create a wrapper for these makefiles? It doesn't work. I checked
