libtheora Bitrate Problem
Hello, I'm not sure if this list is the proper place for this post; please correct me if it is not. I am attempting to use libtheora and I have been looking through the examples in the distribution Excerpt from encoder_example.c -- case 'V': video_r=rint(atof(optarg)*1000); if(video_r<45000 || video_r>2000000) { fprintf(stderr,"Illegal

user nobody can print on a non-public printer?
My printing system is working beautifully thanks to SAMBA. Thanks! Except that 5 times now, user nobody connected to the printer successfully and printed! User nobody can not log onto the domain. It seems to happen if you print immediately after you log on. I logged on as my test user and printed immidiately. The job went through as user nobody. 5 minutes later I printed again, and that time I

About "b" meaning "byte" and bit
Hi all :) I think that this issue has already been discussed on this list, but google didn''t find anything interesting, so I''m bringing the subject again. The output of "tc" uses "b" meaning "byte" and "bit" for "bit". The "official" suffixes for those units are "B" and "b", respectively,

what is max and min bitrate supported in OggVorbis?
Hi All, I am planning to implement Ogg Vorbis Decoder on a 24 bit DSP. I have following doubts: 1) What is min and max bitrate? 2)What is max Audio Packet size ? 3)What is the max size of setup header? 4)Any idea how to start for making a 24Bit fixed point reference code? Shall I start with floating point or Tremor or Tremor Low Mem Version? 5) What window sizes in Ogg Vorbis are normally

Ogg too good?
I'm just encoding some files with the latest ogg and it's too good. I tried encoding things at q1 just to see what happened and I couldn't hear the differencee between the ogg and the original files. Maybe it was the type of music I was encoding or limitations in my listening equipment or something but it seems pointless to have a scale from one to ten and have most of it unused.

GRUB, and how do I loathe thee
I just adore the install. Esp. of GRUB. Does *anyone* who works on GRUB actually work in the real world, and not only on brand new machines? I just had happen at work what happened last fall on my home system: then, I had /dev/hda, and was trying a clean install on a new SATA drive; right now, I'm installing on a replacement disk on a server that has no CD/DVD drive from a USB key. semi-OT: t-bird mime type on .pdf attachment is wrong
I was sending my manager a copy of a form, and attached it (not inline), using -t-bird, and he complains it didn't want to open. Looking at the message source, t-bird had decided that the mime type was all/allfiles, though the name ended in .pdf. I've searched via the config editor, and I've been googling, and not finding anything. (I just *adore* the current google: I have

Terminal Services and traffic control.
Hi everybody, I have a network that only uses terminal services. Look at the diagram. 20 machines running WinXP <-> LinuxFW-1 <-> 1Mbit link dedicated fiber link <–> LinuxFW-2 <–> Terminal Server I’d like to give the maximum priority for bandwidth to terminal services (port 3389). I’ve changed the CBQ script from LARTC site to suite my needs, but every time I

Using opus on ATMEL 32-bit RISC microcontroller
Hello Daniele It would be worthwhile to attach an external serial flash or USB thumb drive, if the intent is store data. This allows for far more flexibility in storage Regards Amit On Fri, Aug 26, 2016 at 11:02 AM, Jean-Marc Valin <jmvalin at jmvalin.ca> wrote: > On 26/08/16 11:40 AM, Daniele Barzotti wrote: > > You're right! buffer size from source to ice/shoutcast
Hello, I've built my own source for ICE/SHOUTcast, and it works pretty well except for one thing. After tuning into the server and listening for an 60-90 minutes you may hear a song skip ahead 30-90 seconds. I think I know why this is happening but I'mnot sure how to fix it. I think this is happening because my source is sending a little bit too much data to ICE/SHOUTcast. My formula

Hi Jean-Marc, thanks a lot for your reply. > Well, the first question is whether you want encoding, decoding, or > both.
