Vorbis streems, old and new
Hi all: Well, after making the change to make use of the CVS trees and switching to ices2 (as opposed to the libshout example streamer), the icecast server at bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000 is back up. I've put my old 22khz mono files (encoded with beta4) back up on test.ogg. In addition, we've implemented a vorbis subset of Kirk Reiser's egoplay MP3 stream. You can now hear all the

My vorbis/icecast2 stream now working properly again
Hi all: I noticed earlier this week that, at least for me, my vorbis test stream at http://bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000/test.ogg was not working properly. It would send some data and then stop. Most times it would make it through the HTTP headers and the icecast headers, but then it would just sit there, sucking its thumb. I did try restarting it, but to no avail. anyway, the machine got

While we're publicising icecast2 streams...
Hi all: I've had an icecast2 stream up for about a week now and thought I'd tell you all about it. This is a very primitive setup - using icecast2 and libshout on a linux box and using the example program along with a random sort utility to shunt the files to the server. The stream is at 22.05khz mono at the lowest bitrate, meaning it hovers around the 32kbps mark. there are 38 songs

Adventures with icecast2
Hi all: OK, this is one of those "why doesn't it work" type questions. I'm basically stumped. All the server info in the xml file and example.c seem to match, but it's coming back with an error 3 which is no login (as far as I can understand). There's nothing in the icecast2 logs to show that an attempt has been made. hmmm. It just occured to me that perhaps it's

I'll add our init script for redhat to it then: note: it does work, but restarting is not always working, due to ports still being open :-( --------------------------------------------------------------------- #!/bin/sh # # description: starts/stops the ices audioencoder # # chkconfig: 345 99 20 # # Source function library. . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions

a simple ices2 scheduler
Hi Folks: I have written a simple scheduler for ices2. It basically plays a background playlist in sequential, random or shuffle mode. Each time it is called by ices it checks to see if there is a file in /tmp and if there is builds it into a request file which plays immediately after the current piece finishes. You can use 'at' or cron to set up jobs to place playlists in /tmp to be

Client Problems
Thanks for the help, I can have people connect that are still on my local network at school. People outside of it always get timed out.. Is there something special I'm not doing (that i should) to give outsiders access ? <p>>From: Moritz Grimm <gtgbr@gmx.net> >Reply-To: icecast@xiph.org >To: icecast@xiph.org >Subject: Re: [icecast] Client Problems >Date: Wed, 30

Ices issues
Hi: I ran a live test broadcast today and noticed a couple of things that concerned me. Now, I'll admit I was pushing my P2/266 pretty hard, but it kept things going so I'm guessing that it's not unreasonable for me to expect this to work. I was sending two streams encoded from the sound card, one at 22khz mono quality -1 and the other at 44.1 stereo quality 0. I was also saving

Winamp decoder plugin user-agent ident
Hi: Have been testing the latest winamp plugins on my icecast2 stream (http://bumpy.braille.uwo.ca:9000/test.ogg <plug plug>) and I noticed that in the field where the player/browser is listed in the log entries I see Mozilla for the winamp plugin. Isn't this ummmm. wrong? Geoff. --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage:
