Re: [advocacy] Ogg & Ogg Vorbis _unofficial_ logos page.
Done, anybody can send me his logo and I promise to publish it on my page without any previous censorship. Thanks. P.S. I used OpenOffice Draw because Sodipodi does no yet support grids which I need badly for my designs (I have some AutoCAD backgroup and I am a very technical guy, apart from that I love Sodipodi and in fact the SVG on my site has been retouched with it). By the way I

radioheads new album download and free formats advocacy
I'm forwarding the email I sent to the radiohead website support , asking that they consider using open formats, as sugested In the #vorbis irc channel I posted this in the wiki to serve as a basis for a more thought out and articulated draft for a email campaing, pettion, and as monty suggested I'm also forwarding it here, to see if we organize a petition/email campaign to get their

Should FLAC join Xiph?
Really, it's a case of resource management and helping things along in an inclusive manner, as opposed to an exclusive manner. Sure, we could just start building on it and give it out, but that's not really our style. I'd much prefer to take some of the resources we have and offer them to a project that has proven that it can kick a lot of ass on its own. There's no question in my

Re: [advocacy] current tshirt/slogan submissions
Two notes on my T-shirt design... Had I known there was an official logo/font for the Ogg Vorbis and Xiph I would have used it. Sorry if this causes any problems. :o) #ifdef Stand_on_SoapBox As for the phenomenon vs. standard I think I may want to explain. It seems that whenever the media reports on Ogg (or ANY open source project for that matter) they often use the word phenomenon to

Hello all, Help me please do mirror of freebsd.org. I got *.sgml through CVSup, installed textproc/docproj. But when I typed make: [root@xxx /www/freebsd/]make ===> en ===> en/security ===> en/commercial ===> en/docproj ===> en/news ===> en/news/1993 ===> en/news/1996 ===> en/news/1997 ===> en/news/1998 ===> en/news/1999 ===> en/news/2000 ===> en/news/2001

Support .cda as input files
Hi again list, I have given the matter of supporting .cda as input format some more thought. What I wanted was an easier way to do drag 'n' drop music files from CDs onto the local system and then have those files encoded with FLAC. As of now most operating systems displays files on CDs as .cda. (Which has later been clarified not to even be a format.) I think that what I actually

New around - some questions (Cortado, editing Theora)
Hello, I am maintaining different resources related to Ogg Theora, both as a user and as a contributor to several local advocacy groups. I had a couple of questions: - Who should I ask / talk to about financing improvements to the Cortado applet (namely: bigger / more visible controls for the seek functions) ? - Are there any simple Ogg Theora editing tools or applications, similar to avidemux

Dream Ledger
Hello Fellow Campers, I''m feeling crazy tonight and thought I''d go ahead and announce my new little project riding on the Camping framework: Dream Ledger (http://www.dreamledger.com). The app was written to scratch a personal itch, which is the simple fact that I wanted an easy way to record my nightly dreams and sleep experiences. Think about it as ''dream

Agent 4.0 and wine
I have been running Agent3.3 uner Linux debian sarge, wine 0.0.20050310-1.2, fake windows partition. Absolutely no problems, even when tackling large groups like binaries or advocacy. But the upgrade to V4 did not go well. I went back to 3.3 and managed to reproduce under reduced conditions: * Created a new, vanilla user called gorby * Created a new fake windows setup with a vanilla

[LLVMdev] glasgow haskell appears to be adopting LLVM
everyone-- File this under Advocacy. See this thread <http://www.haskell.org/pipermail/glasgow-haskell-users/2010-February/018425.html> for more information, but the short summary is that they're deprecating their old "compile to GCC" backend in favor of David Terei's new LLVM backend. They're still planning for their C-- backend to be the primary backend for native

Re: Re: [xiph-rtp] Re: Proposal: An extension to rules all others
Sorry, but I think generic extension names are far from perfect. Here are some additional problems to consider: 1) Language. When people talk about file types, they almost never say "dot" at the beginning. They say "MP3 files". For example, "Does that player support MP3 files?" If you have an extension of ".music" this ends up being "Does that

[xiph-wiki] ReleaseProcess
Hi, (this is general Xiph.org project stuff, not sure what lists are more appropriate) I just made a stab at documenting a release project for Xiph.org, as taught to me recently by Ralph when I moved liboggz and libfishsound over to Xiph.org: http://wiki.xiph.org/index.php/ReleaseProcess Please edit! and please add a link from the Project Management part of the main page :-) Also the reason I

tshirt design needed
I've copied vorbis@xiph on this message simply because it will be interesting there, but also to give those who haven't yet subscribed to the advocacy list a taste of the things that (should) happen there. As you know we are planning to sell vorbis shirts, both to promote the vorbis format and to raise some money for the Xiph.org Foundation. I have been talking to an online retailer

Man pages for Linux distributions
Given that R is being written under the GNU GPL, a corollary process would be sufficient documentation of R (in packaged distributions) that explains HOW-TO install, use, and extend R. An example of documentation that is extensive is Perl which has documentation under the MAN pages in Unix,Linux as well as in POD (Plain Old Documents) files. The key to R advocacy is documentation. As
