We're gearing up to the next full release of the Vorbis codec; I've
just tagged a release candidate in SVN in order to encourage wider
testing toward final 1.1 release.
This release includes the following updates:
1) Adoption of AoTuV and other tuning work by Vorbis developers

Theora performance
Hi list,
I just came across this site:
http://web.mit.edu/xiphmont/Public/theora/demo.html
I was wondering are these issues being addressed or will be addressed before
the 1.0 release?
Theora is like the only open sourced free code people can use, i will be
nice if it performs close to other libs.
please keep up the good work!

Decoder example question
Hey all...I'm trying to use the decoder_example.c in the examples directory
to decode a .ogg file that was encoded by using the binary encoder
ogglame.exe and encoded via the encoder_example.c. I'm running into a
problem with the decoder though. It plays FINE under the WinAmp plugin but I
when I try and use the decoder_example.c to decode the file it says "End of

Noise problem while encoding and decoding
Hi, everyone!
I'm a newbie of speex develog. I tried to encode and decode with the
sample program in the speex manual. I compile those program with
gcc sampleenc.c -o enc -lspeex
gcc sampledec.c -o dec -lspeex
I run these two program in this way and then speak loudly:
./enc /dev/dsp ? ./dec /dev/dsp
I thought I would hear my voice. However, what i heard was a lot of
noise. I

Dynamic Change Parameters..
I am going to improve theora codec with dynamically changing way. In this
case we want to change compression parameters like video_q, sharpness when a
keyframe is generated. When i set video quality parameter using cpi->
pb.info.quality in CommpressKeyFrame in encoder_toplevel it will not change
dynamically. Can you please help me to do this. Wich function should i cange

beta 2
My branch that I've been working on for the last few weeks is now the
mainline; once I add a few more modes (mode_A.h through mode_E.h,
corresponding roughly to 128,160,192,256,350 kbps stereo) and Mike Smith and
Chad get the modes into OggEnc, we'll be at beta 2.
A few things to note:
I'd been really really hoping that I'd squeeze the last bit of performance out

Exact decode positioning
Hi,
I'm busy working on a method of synchronising playback between two ogg
decoders. To do this reliably, I need to create a cross-reference of the
raw & pcm offsets in the bitstream. I have tried using the ov_raw/pcm_tell
calls, but it appears as if the ov_raw_tell() only updates itsself in steps
of 4096 bytes (as each read callback is done). This gives me a
cross-reference every

Vorbis CVS binaries for linux/x86
MoiN
I just set up a cron job that will compile the CVS every night
into useable binaries for i386 linux systems. You can get them at
http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/~ingo/vorbis/
If the CVS sources won't compile one day you will see still the
old packages of yesterday, but please don't complain about that

Monty on holiday
Hi folks,
My wife and I are taking a long weekend to celibrate our anniversary. I won't
be around again until Wednesday to answer email or do anything else on Vorbis.
Yeah, I know, I usually answer my email once a month anyway (so likely no one
would notice me being gone), but just so folks know if anything really juicy
comes up :-)
I'll be merging my latest branch with mainline
