Multi-channel labels in Vorbis comments
Hi devs :-)
At the Mozilla Festival in London recently, I took part in a Hack the DJ
workshop, looking at ways to take digital DJ'ing to the next level:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/researchanddevelopment/2011/11/setting-a-dj-challenge-at-the.shtml
One of the ideas proposed was stem mixing, using multichannel files in
DJ applications. A proprietary implementation of this idea is Fireplayer

multi channels & documentation
hi
i'm looking for information about the multichannel spec. of vorbis.
1/ the documentation specifies that 256 channels are available ( -c 256)
... it sounds very well but how may i specify the original files ??? (i haven't 256 physical entries on my soundcard ... arffff)
so is there a way to declare something like
oggenc file1.wav file2.wav file3.wav -c3 final.ogg ???

diff to vorbis-tools-1.1.1
Hallo everybody,
I just created a small patch for oggenc to be able to read and encode wav6-files. This files are of micro$ofts WAVEFORMATEXTENSIBLE format type and can contain multiple channels.
a52dec can produce this type of file from ac3 streams.
Might be it would be better to teach oggenc to read ac3 streams natively.
There is probably a better way to encode low frequency channels

Bass response with Ogg Vorbis
I'm a bass player, I admit it. I came across a number of people
talking about bass response with Ogg Vorbis and it piqued my interest,
I live for this stuff.
I am using the Ogg files to distribute songs as converted right from
the 32 bit masters. This is a much different thing than ripping a 16
bit CD audio file that has been mushed and compressed much before it
winds up as an Ogg file. When

Multichannel Vorbis encode
There is some time now that I reported this issue on the bugtracker:
https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/roundup/ffmpeg/issue1325
And this guy, jbr, kindly created a patch that solved the problem. What
is needed now for the patch to be included in the SVN?
About his patch, there is a remap table that maps the channel order from
SMPTE order to Vorbis order. What is this SMPTE order? Vorbis

ho do I encode multi channel flacs
Hi, maybe this has already been discussed already.. I _did_ search the
archives, found no solution...
I have a 4.1 channel track, I rip it to 5 separate mono wav files.
Is it possible to encode these independant files to one single multi-channel
flac file with flac?
I heard a bit about ripping to wav, converting all mono tracks to flac
separately (i had to use --channel-map=none to get this to

5.1 streams into ogg.vorbis
Hallo,
I'd like to get all channels of an ac3 5.1 stream coded into vorbis.
With sox and oggenc it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know a tool that can do this under linux?
The ac3 stream is also avialabe as wav6 file converted by the cvs version of a52dec.
This wav6 file contains one stereo stream and 3 mono streams.
Is there a convention which stream number in an ogg file means

Extension to Skeleton for multi-track media
Hi all,
Discussions about a need for an extension to Skeleton to cater for
multi-track media files has been going on for a while. In a recent
thread here, in discussions on IRC, and at FOMS between Jan, Ralph,
Viktor and I, we discussed some fields. Viktor and I continued that
discussion to make more specific recommendations on what fields to
add.
We now have a wiki page at

bad performance on 2.4.23
hi,
- big and ugly mail. If you don't like them, delete it now :-) -
I have collected and classified some information of:
http://home.earthlink.net/~rwhron/kernel/bigbox.html
And I observed that ext3 performance is worse than previous
kernels(2.4.19...). -ac and -aa are here only as reference.
Complete information is in the upper URL.

Difficult sample for vorbis w/ audible artifacts
I came across an interesting test sample the other day while trying to
compress some of my music and trying out different encoders. You can grab
the sample in question from here:
http://www.animus-facticius.org
drone_clip.zip is a 9 second clip of the track where the artifact is most
apparent, drone_short.pac is a 1 minute clip of track. The sample is from
the song "Drone" from

Multi-Track-Single-Logical-Stream Ogg-Vorbis (mogg) vs Multi-Track-Multi-Logical-Stream Ogg-Vorbis
Hi All,
I am in the midst of developing a library for easily recording multi-track
audio for a court recording system. Well, it can be used for anything, but
this is its first intended use.
The idea is to simultaneously capture/compress/archive 8 to 16 mono
sources (microphones) in an Ogg container using Vorbis. Then later, be
able to play back only selected logical streams, or

Audio tracks and channels in OggFLAC
Hi all,
I'm getting mired in conflicting and dated information, so I think I
need to ask this of live humans... :-)
I'm essentially trying to create an Ogg file that works like DVD video does.
In particular, in addition to the Theora video stream, there will be
multiple audio "tracks" (By "track", I mean a collection of channels
to be played all at once, but only one

Fwd: Re: Clarification on pshycho-acoustic in Vorbis (your non-MP3 guide)
After reading http://mp3.radified.com/mp3.htm I sent Rad an explanation of
some things as I understand them. He liked it and posted it on his site
(still unlinked, use the URL below). Can somebody with better
understanding of psycho-acoustic terms and the vorbis model check it and
comment on it? In particular I didn't know how vorbis handles
quantization noise. If you reply with

Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a Bug Report
Hi, there.
While waiting for the encoder RC1, I will report some minor problems
I experienced with Peter's Winamp decoder.
First, I am using Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v.1.11a with Winamp v.2.76
on Windows 98 SE.
1. When the buttons of Playlist Editor are extended, the part extended
in playlist screen seems to be flickering when an Ogg file is being played.
2. I check the option of

How is 6 channels coupling made?
Hello all, I'm using the directshow filters by Tobias. Yes I know they are not
supported here :)
The vorbis encoder (I really mean encoder, not decoder) by tobias works good in
2 channels mode, but with 6 channels it exchanges the order of channels while
encoding. The front center goes to the front right, and the like.
I have reported the problem, but Tobias gives no signs of life. I want to
