I submitted four new packages for the NetBSD pkgsrc collection: libao, libogg, libvorbis and vorbis-tools for 1.0beta4. The following is some of the patches needed for libao and vorbis-tools. patch to add device-option to ogg123 rc file
Below is a patch for vorbis-tools-1.0beta4 ogg123. It adds support for using the rc file (like /etc/ogg123.rc) for configuring the device-options. In addition, comments can be used (when they start a line). My ~/.ogg123rc: default_device=oss default_options=dsp:/dev/audio Please share your comments. Jeremy C. Problem compiling ogg on OpenBSD-2.7
Hi, I have downloaded the following files libao-0.6.0.tar.gz libogg-1.0beta4.tar.gz libvorbis-1.0beta4.tar.gz vorbis-tools-1.0beta4.tar.gz as said from the download section. But I'm at a loss to what do after that. I don't have much experience/knowledge in compiling etc, but I still want to try out ogg. (I downloaded the source coz I have an OpenBSD machine, and there was no

patches to beta 4 spec files
Hi, Attached are patches for the beta 4 distribution, fixing minor problems in RPM spec files. One question: are there any reasons not to include vorbiscomment in the vorbis-tools binary package? I've added the long-awaited utility program into the revised spec file, but I wonder if it is a wrong change... Regards, -- KAJIYAMA, Tamito <kajiyama@grad.sccs.chukyo-u.ac.jp> diff -ru

building under NetBSD and using /dev/audio
I am using NetBSD 1.5.1_ALPHA (i386). I have libao-0.6.0, libvorbis-1.0beta4, libogg-1.0beta4 and vorbis-tools-1.0beta4. My sound works. I am able to use a .ogg file by using ogg123 to create a .wav file and playing it with splay. (splay uses /dev/audio.) How can I modify ogg123 (or liba0) so I can use /dev/audio as the default sound device? Or maybe it would be better to add a new device (for

Compiling vorbis-tools on NetBSD-1.5/i386
[This mail is a bit long: sorry.] Hi, I have been trying to compile vorbis-tools-1.0beta4 on NetBSD-1.5/i386, and I get the following: --------------------- Upon typing ./configure --prefix=/usr/pkg/ --with-ogg-prefix=/usr/pkg/ --with-vorbis-prefix=/usr/pkg/ --with-ao-prefix=/usr/pkg/ checking for Ogg... yes checking for Vorbis... yes checking for ao... no *** Could not run

Vorbis lib can't find ogg on RH6.2
Hi, I installed libogg-1.0beta4.tar.gz on a Cobalt server (Red Hat 6.2) and also installed libao-0.6.0.tar.gz for good measure. I just did a plain ./configure make make install When I come to install libvorbis-1.0beta4 I get *** Could not run Ogg test program, checking why... *** The test program compiled, but did not run. This usually means *** that the run-time linker is not finding Ogg or

automake 1.6 compatability patch
This patch cleans up the vorbis-tools Makefile.am files so they work with both automake 1.4 and 1.6. Some changes to configure.in were also needed in order to get things to work (and to fix some ac 2.50 issues). Please remove config.h from cvs as it is a generated file and empty anyway. automake 1.6 isn't really incompatable with 1.4, it's just more picky about you sticking to the rules:

libao: alsa plugin won't compile
Hey' Can't seem to compile libao. I'm using Slackware-7.1-current-ish, linux-2.4.2, gcc-2.95.2, and alsa-9.0-beta2. This is the first time I've tried to compile libao so I don't know if the problem is related to alsa-9.0 changes. Alsa headers seem to be there: /usr/include/linux> ls -l as*.h -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 35994 Mar 3 10:57 asequencer.h -rw-r--r-- 1

artifact bug status? / compiling under OpenBSD 2.8
Hi! On March 17th I posted a message on this list concerning an artifact bug in beta4 that is audible in all available bitrates. It was this rumbling sound in the bass area. I made a demo clip, which still is available at http://www.stud.uni-karlsruhe.de/~us87/ogg/vorbis_bassrumble_demo.rar and that contains both the original .WAV and an .OGG @ 350kbps. This archive is 2.1 MB large. Today, I

Bug #4
Hi. I created a patch for Bug #4 (ogg123 not honoring /etc/ogg123rc) and uploaded it to Bugzilla, but I have the feeling that the Bugzilla is somewhat neglected... so I just send the patch here. The changes are very simple, one typo (I guess) was fixed (from "/etc/ogg123.rc" to "/etc/og123rc" as it's documented), and I changed an if to a while-loop to make it read the

Systemwide default for ogg123
MoiN I thought you should be able to set system wide defaults for the output device of ogg123. The following patch will look for /etc/ogg123rc, if no ~/.ogg123rc can be found. So the user can still override the system defaults, but not every user needs to have an ~/.ogg123rc file. Ingo -- 16 Hard coded constant for amount of room allowed for

libao and recent ALSA builds
I had a go at building libao-0.6.0 and it barfed on the alsa output part, complaining that snd_pcm_channel_status_t is undeclared - probably due to me running alsa 0.9.0 beta4. So the question is, should I try and beat the configure stuff into letting me disable alsa support and just use OSS, or would I be better off trying my luck with the nightly builds? And if so, can I get away with just
