Anybody tried implementing different streaming protocols yet?
Hi,
does anybody know if somebody tried implementing things like rtsp, mms or
similar in icecast so far? I heard some rumors from people complaining
transmissions over http or not "that secure" because using a wget you can
easily write them to disk. They suggested using real servers or something - but
I wonder if its (easy?) possible to implement another already widely used

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Well more specifically I want to transcode a realaudio stream into mp3 on
the same machine and on the command line only - reliably!
Following up, I managed to compile the trplayer using a substitute
__pure_virtual function compiled with extern "C" (without it the function
name was being mangled by g++) by now trplayer runs and exits without
warning, error or success... the funny thing

Hacking up streaming - we want to
Hi,
We would like to stream some of our content as OGG Vorbis.
We've currently managed to hack liveice and icecast to stream over HTTP
and play that with ogg123. But from reading the dev list, I see that's
also been done here, probably in a more elegant way - can anyone point
me at the right place to see the current state of this?
For now we'll probably just be doing this

Indexing files
Hi all,
I would like to start replacing the realmedia content on a clients web site with the Ogg format. The client (a national tv/radio station) publishes alot of content and have integrated their CMS with the Realmedia system in order to index multimedia with story lines. Eg the following link would be published inside a RAM file to point to the start and end times of a story from the 6

Helix into Icecast2 loopback
Hello.
I've made some progress on the issue. I found a tool called TrPlayer which
is a text mode front end for real player - initially developed for the use
of the visually impaired. The theory is that I can use this and pipe the
live stream into vsound which then in turn is passed into ices or another
source client. Trouble is, I'm having all sorts of trouble compiling
Trplayer on the

OT: Latest Linux Real player
Hi:
I know this is off-topic, but figured someone here would know, particularly
given Xiph's involvement in Helix.
Up till now I've used TRplayer <http://linux-speakup.org/trplayer.html> to
play Realmedia content. This is because, as a Blind person, I've no need
or desire for X11, and TRplayer uses the Realplayer libs without all that X
overhead. but now I would like to play

Problems with RealPlayer & Icecast
I've been getting reports from people that my Icecast streams are not working
when RealPlayer is used for playback. They all say that the stream plays for
5-10 seconds, then the connection just drops. I tried it using RealPlayer 8 on
Windows2000, and got the same results. Winamp, on the other hand, works
perfectly.
I tried playing other streams on the Icecast yp server, and it seems to play

Trick to compile older packages
I am trying to add a package (I know its older - but it should work)
gst-rtsp-server-0.10.8 to CentOS 7.
The gstreamer 0.10 packages are included in C7 and they compile just fine.
When I extract and try to compile gst-rtsp-server 0.10.8 the ./configure
goes fine.
but the make results in errors:
make
make all-recursive

Will encode and play back via an sdp file and multicast on one
computer (over the net if you transfer the sdp file over by hand).
rc/rtenc3 and src/rtdec3 are in the style of encoder/decoder_example

I specify my rtenc3 to multicast just on eth1 (to avoid pissing off

So, in that case, ICY 200 should be removed?

FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for WMP Supports Icecast2
A FREE AAC/aacPlus Plugin for Microsoft Windows Media Player that
fully supports the Icecast2 Server is available for download here:
http://www.orban.com/plugin
FYI:
This plugin supports .asx for Windows Media Player NOT .pls or .m3u.
Also streams can be opened directly by using newly created UIL
redirectors, e.g., icyx:// instead of http:// and rtpx:// instead of
rtsp://. This is all covered

RTP/RTSP streaming of GSM or ADPCM audio
Greetings:
It would be nice if Icecast supported RTSP; however I would
appreciate any suggestions for a small RTSP/RTP solution to
encode 8kHz mono audio in GSM or ADPCM and service multiple
unicast client connections. The ideal would be a black-box
hardware solution with an audio input and ethernet interface
similar to broadcast studio IP audio links or the network
audio capabilities of certain

RTSP reflection.
Hi
Where do I find instruction to configure icecast as a reflect server for
rtsp?
Scenario:
Client1 sends audio to IceCast via rtsp
Client2 receives audio from IceCast via rtsp.
I need to just setup this behaviour..

Question about compiling older package
I have a gst-rtsp-server 0.10.8.2 that I am trying to compile on
CentOS 7.2
I get this error:
rtsp-media.c error 'g_cond_free' is deprecated (declared at
/usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/deprecated/gthread.h:283)
[-Werror=deprecated-declarations]
What can I do about that to compile this package (I'm compiing from source)
?
Thanks

Icecast2 Server - AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus Support
Hello-
You guys have done an excellent job with the Icecast2 server.
I probably don't need to tell you that, but I did anyway.
We are Coding Technologies licensees and have recently developed a
streaming audio encoder supporting AAC/HE-AAC/aacPlus using RTSP/RTP,
SHOUTcast HTTP/ICY, and Icecast2 HTTP/ICY, Orban Opticodec-PC.
