vorbisfile.o givng me problems
I have been having problems compling vorbis on my computer( running redhat
7.1 ), it gives me a bunch of errors about vorbisfile.o( at least that what
the errors are complaining about...I don't know enough to figure out what is
wrong ).
Below is the output I get from compile:
Making all in examples

need help with project on Vorbis
Hello,
First off, please don't ask development questions directly from a
single developer. I tend to answer emails only a few times a month.
You will get much faster help by asking on IRC (#vorbis on freenode)
or on the vorbis mailing list (vorbis at xiph.org or
vorbis-dev at xiph.org).
I am cc:inf vorbis-dev at xiph.org; please continue discussion there.

cvs trunk vorbis/ compile patches
ltconfig placeholder shoud be removed.
Makefile.am : some stuff copied from branch_beta3
ogg lib must be added only where necesary.
vq subdir Makefile.am'ized, (but installs nothing)
made distclean target slightly more clean
-- check it by hand first, please ---
also you'll want to remove vq/Makefile if the ...am passes inspection

digital silence; not bug?
Greg,
I just tried encoding digital silence; I'm seeing [roughly] 0kbps like I should
be with the mainline. How did you run your test?
notfish% head --bytes=10000k /dev/zero > ! zero.raw
snotfish% ./encoder_example < zero.raw > zero.ogg

Trouble building libvorbis-1.0rc3
Hi all,
I was just trying to build myself a RC3 set of Ogg/Vorbis libs and
tools, but the build of libvorbis bombs out on me while making all in
examples. I've ./configure'd with no options, which gave no warnings
or errors. After that a normal make gives the below attached output.
Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong ?
I've also tried removing the examples/ directory. After

Debian versioning problems
Anyone know how I can persuade a debian system that a version number like
'1.0-1' is actually greater than '1.0rc3-1', for the purpose of dependencies?
As the 1.0 debian control file requires debhelper 4.0.0, I ended up building
from source, but I'd like to put some equivs packages in without silly
version numbers like '1.0rc99' to keep apt and friends happy.

State of Vorbis
Hi folks, some notes about goings on.
After opportunity to think aloud, I have the pieces of the VQ system more
or less in place. I need to finish the codebook generation core (this is not
libvorbis code, but an external utility). I then need to write the encode/
decode/packing code that makes use of the codebook. This future code is
already specced.

vorbisfile.a
I've decided it's probably a good idea to wrap up the 'chaining_example.c'
functionality into a library interface as the functionality inside is going to
be commonly useful enough. It would be silly for everyone who wants to do
trivial things to have to reproduce it unless they really want to.
It's not going to be as 'carved in stone' as the libvorbis interface.

Major quality decrease in RC3 compared to RC2
Hello...
I was very surprised when I found, that oggfiles created with RC3 are much
worse than files made with RC2.
I have some example sound file set up for you on the net. The difference is
*obvious*. While RC2 made ogg-files, which I would say are perfect (at least
I cannot hear a difference to the original), the quality of RC3 is *bad*.
Let me first say, that I used libvorbis0, libogg0

Xiph.Org releases libogg 1.2.1 and libvorbis 1.3.2
Xiph.Org is pleased to announce a full release of libogg 1.2.1
and libvorbis 1.3.2. This is not a coordinated release, it was
merely convenient to do a release cycle for both at the same
time.
Changes and fixes in the new libogg release include:
* Various build updates (see SVN)
* Add ogg_stream_pageout_fill() to API to allow applications
greater explicit flexibility in page sizing.

opus file trimming/clipping
Hello,
I am new to opus and C, so please forgive my basic question. I am trying to
trim a file to remove an extract at a specified starting and ending time --
an example would be to save an excerpt from a song as a ringtone. What is
the best way to accomplish this?
I have been trying to use op_pcm_seek, and the documentation for
op_pcm_seek says "Seek to the specified PCM offset, such that
