Next Vorbis beta, MPEG+ enkoder
Hi. When can we expect the next beta version of Vorbis encoder (with some tagging & encoding options I hope)? Also, today I tested MPEG+ encoder which you can download from http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/mppenc.zip (win encoder) http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/in_mpp.zip (winamp plug-in) http://www.stud.uni-hannover.de/user/73884/mppdec.zip (win decoder) It sounds

Systemwide default for ogg123
MoiN I thought you should be able to set system wide defaults for the output device of ogg123. The following patch will look for /etc/ogg123rc, if no ~/.ogg123rc can be found. So the user can still override the system defaults, but not every user needs to have an ~/.ogg123rc file. Ingo -- 16 Hard coded constant for amount of room allowed for

Future libao refinements
Just so people know what I'm working on (between physics assignments), here's a quick list of what's currently in the pipeline: * I received an IRIX patch which I am very excited about. I'll be submitting that shortly. * A month ago another user sent me a very small patch that improved ALSA performance on his machine. I don't understand what it does exactly, and would

comparisons
I converted the 128kbps tom.mp3 file into a .wav and then used oggenc -m 2 to laterally encode it to 128kbps tommy.ogg format. I noticed that it gets very close to the size of an mp3, great job guys. Then I got to thinking that maybe it could be compressed further with gzip so I tried it. I also gzipped the mp3 to compare and it looks like the mp3 gzips better but gzipping the ogg file will get

maybe OT: Univention.de UCS
Hello List, the UCS GUI Univention made looks quite nice and useful. Since they put it open source it became interesting for us. I am a little confused that they only provide ISO images and not the Management Project as source code since I don't want to depend on them. Has someone got a little experience with it? Thanks, Mario

flac123 revival
Hello Dan Johnson, hello list, It's really weird that there's no working command line player for FLAC files. Dan Johnson created flac123 (licensed under the GPL) to fill that gap, and started the flac-tools project. Unfortunately, flac123 doesn't work anymore with the latest FLAC, and the flac-tools project has been idle for more than a year. I created a patch that makes flac123

winbind backends ad and rfc2307 both with errors...
Hello, I just set up a samba server (version 2:4.1.13+dfsg-4) on Debian 7.7, being a member server of a Win2k8-Domain (before that, that server was an old SuSE (10.4)-Samba with own user-management (standalone-server). I would like to use winbind with the idmap backend "ad" or "rfc2307" instead. When using rfc2307 (like in my conf specified), I can do successfully: wbinfo

multiple lattice-pages (development package!)...
One Question: if I make a lattice-plot (beware: under development!) with a special layout e.g. c(2,2,4): p1 <- xyplot(y~x|id,data=data,layout=c(2,2,3)) is there a way to print.trellis e.g. the second page of the trellis object "p1"? print.trellis(p1,page=2) #!wrong! I want this to automatically dev.print the pages (no, I don't want multiple postscript pages). If this

a < b < c is alway TRUE
One of our students did something like: x[a < b < c] instead of x[a < b & b < c] But why is 3 < 2 < 1 # [1] TRUE ??? Is there any reason? Or wouldn't it be better to get a warning / error? Question: llvm-link type merge behaviour of c++ classes
Hi LLVM community, I'd like to ask a question regarding the behavior of llvm-link: My code contains Classes which are structurally equivalent but they are totally unrelated and distinct on a c++ point of view. However, if the compiled IR gets processed by llvm-link, these types are merged together. My question is: Is this expected behavior or a bug? To explain it more in detail, a reduced

Where is the stud.ci() function used in boot.ci()?
Hello! I am trying to duplicate the studentized bootstrap confidence interval calculations in boot.ci() without using boot.ci(). My w/o boot.ci() calculations are close to boot.ci() using the same object from implementation of boot(), but not quite the same (I think the differences are due to how quantiles are computed for z*). Through examining the boot.ci() code, I can see there is a call
