FLAC->mpc transcoding
Hi guys. First off, keep up the good work on FLAC: great now, and looks promising in the future :) I wonder if anyone's aware of the issues with FLAC->mpc transcoding: it works under linux but not windows. Sorry if this has been bought up loads before - i couldn't see it here. Here's the message mppenc 1.02 comes up with on trying to encode a .flac : "MPC Encoder 1.02

ogglame and LAME 3.85 beta
Hi there, I have a question on ogglame, especially on its compression quality. I've download the binary package of ogglame from www.vorbis.com. It works fine. I've also tried LAME 3.85 beta that supports the encoding and decoding of Vorbis streams. I believe that ogglame is a beta version of LAME. I built LAME using libvorbis in the CVS nightly snapshot fetched on July 19th. I fixed

This works: low bitrate encoding
Hey everyone, Here's one way to get .ogg files down to about ~20kbps, and it's not too hard: 1. Use sox to resample the files down to 11025khz mono. 2. Feed these to OGGLAME (Lame 3.84 Alpha 1 is what I had laying around on my hard drive). OGGENC demands that the files be 44.1khz, but this version of ogglame didn't seem to care what the sample rate was. I'm sure the quality

Decoder example question
Hey all...I'm trying to use the decoder_example.c in the examples directory to decode a .ogg file that was encoded by using the binary encoder ogglame.exe and encoded via the encoder_example.c. I'm running into a problem with the decoder though. It plays FINE under the WinAmp plugin but I when I try and use the decoder_example.c to decode the file it says "End of file before finding

I can get this to work in only one of three cases: 1. Works # class serviceB { file {"serviceBconfig": content => $serviceA::serviceAvar } } # # class serviceA { $serviceAvar

Freeamp output plug-in
Hello: I don't usually post requests like this to mailing lists, but I've just about run out of other options. The vorbis.org and vorbis.com sites both make mention of a beta vorbis output plug-in for freeamp, but I'm blowed if I can find it anywhere. It's definitely not in the vorbis.com download section (unless it's been placed their within the last 24 hours or so), and

SuSE 10 dom0 network and console problem
Hello, I have a problem getting the domain 0 (dom0) of xen running with SuSE 10. I have a SuSE 10 installation, which runs. When I switch to the xen kernel, the network does not work any more. Also the serial console does not work any more. If I login to the PC through (a very lousy) KVM, I can do local stuff, but the network does not work. (Ok, I can ping my own IP Address.) e.g. nslookup

pre-newbie - some basic questions...
Hello All, Been completely obsessed for the last two days with VoIP and Asterisk - running on 2 hours sleep and coffee - sorry if this is a little scattered... Okay, I've got a small start-up company that installs traditional PBX (Nortel mainly) systems, data network infrastructure, commercial audio/video, residential audio/video/voice/data and we do lighting control systems... New beta bug reports/bug report
Hi. Joined the list since this seems to be the only point of communication. Just have two comments/questions. 1) I looked all around the developer's site and vorbis.com and don't see any mention of where to send bug reports for 1.0 beta. I'd think it would be a FAQ. 2) My bug for the new beta. (I'm hoping someone of the PTB is reading ... I definitely don't belong on the

Simple setup ...
Hi, I'm currently looking to run Asterisk in the office to replace an old PBX and would appreciate a little help. We are moving offices and will have 8 digital lines. My questions are: As there are 8 digital lines is this known as PRI? Which Digium card would be the best fit? Would you recommend looking at the echo cancellation cards? We are UK based: is caller id supported by Asterisk

Low sample rates / bit rates
Hey guys. I think Vorbis is pretty cool, but since the current OggEnc only offers 44.1kHz, it limits what I wanted to use it for. So I've been using Lame to get 16kHz mono Vorbis files. I'm curious about whether Lame does Vorbis encoding the "right" way for non-44.1k stuff, or whether it just encodes as it would for 44.1k & changes the sample rate on the output, but I'm

Hello, I have two servers where I can push VMs from one to the other by issuing the command virsh migrate --live --persistent --copy-storage-all --verbose \ test6 qemu+ssh://kvmhost2/system on kvmhost1. I can get the VM back by issuing the equivalent command on kvmhost2: virsh migrate --live --persistent --copy-storage-all --verbose \ test6 qemu+ssh://kvmhost1/system After

mongrel thread safety and global variables
In environment.rb file, I initialize a connection to some data vending servers, through TCP sockets. The connection object is global and hence the code: #environment.rb $generic_connection = ConnectionClass.instance (singleton class) $generic_connection.connect_me( this call will make the connection) The above approach is to make sure that, only one connection is made to the data vending
