theora encoder reordering, order of puting data from DCT 8x8 blocks to huffman compressor, and puting result of huffman compressor to buffer bitstream memory
Good day! I'm creating HDL IP CORE (for using in FPGA) for theora encoder (now only I-frames). I don't undestand one moment. Now i develop such stages: 1. From RBG(byer) to YCbCr converter 2. DCT processing (8x8 pixels blocks) 3. Quantizator of DCT coeff. 4. Zig-Zag of quantized DCT coeff. and now i have uresolved last stage of compression - how i must send 8x8 blocks to huffman

Question about Huffman Tables in Setup Header
There is bit space in Bitstream Header to put Huffman codes in. However, This space can take only 80 kinds of Huffman code set. And This space is divded into DC Huffman code set and AC Huffman set, and There are only 16 choices in each DC and AC Huffman code set. If we want to use this space, we find out best(or proper) performance 80 frequency counts(Huffman code sets) from tens thousands of

Bitstream encoded huffman tables always the same
Hello all, I've been working a little inside the Theora decoder when I found that it seems that many videos had the very same huffman tables encoded into their bitstreams (at least the ones that I could take my time to dissecate). I found that the tables are listed as TH_VP31_HUFF_CODES in the file huffenc.c. I tried to investigate a little bit more to see who was setting the bitstream

Chinese, Japanese, Korean Tokenizer.
Hi, I am looking for Chinese Japanese and Korean tokenizer that could can be use to tokenize terms for CJK languages. I am not very familiar with these languages however I think that these languages contains one or more words in one symbol which it make more difficult to tokenize into searchable terms. Lucene has CJK Tokenizer ... and I am looking around if there is some open source that we

Multithread support
Hi, I recently had to encode few hours of desktop stream with Theora and I noticed it used only one core for encoding. Was I missing something? I did not find any "thread" options. As I dig, I found there was a multithread patch back in 2007, and some ffmpeg2theora-multithread commits, but it looks like all this was dropped. Am I right? If the multithreading encoding was dropped out,

VQ and Huffman codebooks creation
Hello, I'd like to know in detail how does the creation of VQ and Huffman codebooks work in Vorbis. I've used the source code from *encoder_example* as guide, but the only reference I've found is the function *_make_words *inside * vorbis_book_init_encode*, which creates the Huffman tree if I'm not wrong. So I have two doubts. The first is that, for creating the Huffman tree (and

Where in code can I get access to the data between VQ and Huffman coding steps
I want to analyse compressed data between VQ and Huffman coding steps. huffman codebook
Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to change the huffman stuff? A different mapping maybe, or maybe it is not too late to change? Decoding is much more efficient if: -- the huffman tree is left-aligned (i.e., longer codes more to the left) -- and we get the bits msb, not lsb Oh, and I need some clarification about the lsp: the purpose of the lsp is to find a low-bitcount approximation of

Huffman decompression
Hello ! A question to all 'Wheel-reinventers': I can build the huffmantrees by hand (on paper) but how to code it? Are there any good URLs out there? Or does the spec supply sufficient information? I tried figure out how oggdec (debugging) does this, but I couldn't get the clou. Thank you Dominik --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project

idct/fdct.c function calls
Hi. I am trying to find calls of idct/fdct.c functions by tracing png2theora.c calls. But found only: analyze.c:oc_dct_cost2() Where and when idct/fdct/mmxidct/mmxfdct.c functions are used? Mentions of "dct" word: ==== pacify at optima-amd64:/usr/src/libtheora-1.2.0alpha1/lib$ grep dct *.c | cut -f1 -d":" | uniq -c ???? 19 analyze.c ???? 28 decode.c ???? 22 encode.c ????? 4

35 max entropy tokens
Hi, Here is something that confused me greatly at first. In Huffman.h, the comment "35" sits above the definition of MAX_ENTROPY_TOKENS: // 35 #define MAX_ENTROPY_TOKENS (DCT_RUN_CATEGORY2 + 2) Yet, if you do math from all the preceding #defines (not easy given that each in a long chain of #defines is defined in terms of the previous #define), there are actually 32 tokens.

New R-SIG for Discrete Choice Modelling
Hello all, I'd like to announce the availability of a mailing list for a newly-formed SIG (Special Interest Group) dedicated to using R for Discrete Choice Modelling. This list is intended for discussion of issues revolving around the design and analysis of Discrete Choice (aka Stated Choice, Stated Preference or Choice-Based Conjoint) experiments. While R has good infrastructure for

MeCab as a Japanese tokenizer
The first version of a Japanese Tokenizer implementation using MeCab. It hasn't been tested yet. In order to compile property both MeCab and libiconv should be installed. In ubuntu the following packages are needed: libmecab-dev mecab-ipadict-utf8 It's also recommended to install libiconv from source. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Integrated Chinese tokenizer SCWS in xapian-core
Xapian is a very excellent open source search engine library, but there is no native support for Chinese word segmentation in queryparser and termgenerator. Therefore, I modified small amount of source codes, integrated into the SCWS tokenizer, that is the same open-source and developped by myself. Anyone can obtain the patch from below URL. After patching, Xapian::QueryParser::parse_query and

removing 'use_libfts' from dovecot fts_solr config; docs/examples of solr-backend-only tokenizer config for dovecot?
given existing problems with fts_solr = ... use_libfts ... i've rm'd it from dovecot config, and am moving all tokenization to solr config. iiuc, in dovecot + solr context, that's correctly config'd in solr/data/dovecot/conf/schema.xml dovecot release ships with 'starter configs', cp -af /usr/share/doc/dovecot/solr-config-7.7.0.xml

Lossless Video Codec
Hi, has the subject of creating a lossless video codec been considered? I know Dirac is available, but it is a hybrid; saving a file and having to set a compression setting is not very intuitive for a novice. I suggest a lossless codec for the distant future, an idea of the codec's name is: FLAV. Free Lossless Agile Video. The goals of it would be: Provide lossless video, have a

syslinux / antique computers
Hi, is there an easy way to circumvent the SYSLINUX novice protection thing? intended users don't know about CTRL key to circumvent it. I'm trying to make a generic bootdisk for systems of 8086 - Pentium4. however the bootdisk is slow, so I'd like to use Syslinux + Memdisk to load a diskette image. then the text displayed to user will be: 1) FreeDOS bootdisk (accelerated, 386
