Graphics question: How to create a changing "smudge factor" for overlapping lines?
Hello all, I am trying to create a Clustergram in R. (More about it here: http://www.schonlau.net/clustergram.html) And to produce a picture similar to what is seen here: http://www.schonlau.net/images/clustergramexample.gif I was able (more or less) to write the R code for creating the image, but there is one thing I can't seem to figure out, that is the *changing*"smudge factor"

Ogg Vorbis on MTV online
Dear Ogg Vorbis Lovers, I'm Dirk of oggmusic.de and I'm not a developer. I'm only a publisher, but I think it's interesting for you, to read some news. Oggmusic.de is the official Presenter of the first Ogg Vorbis Cover Contest in Germany. In Cooperation with the Donots, one of the leading Fun-Punk-Emo-Rock-Bands in Germany, oggmusic.de gives unsigned Bands the chance to win a

6 channel encoding
It appears that either Vorbis was never intended to support more than 2 channels or the algorithm doesn't work for low sound levels. In trying to encode Beauty and the Beast and Starwars II using 6 channels, the Vorbis encoder produced noise in all the scenes were audio dropped below -25 dB. Unfortunately since most dialog is below -25 dB, the Vorbis encodings are unintelligable for most

Chi-square parameter estimation
Hi. I have made 100 experiments of an M/M/1 queue, and for each one I have calculated both, mean and variance of the queue size. Now, a professor has told me that variance is usually chi-squared distributed. Is there a way in R that I can find the parameter that best fits a chi-square to the variance data? I know there's fitdistr()m but this function doesn't handle chi-square. I believe

Re: [advocacy] Ogg & Ogg Vorbis _unofficial_ logos page.
Done, anybody can send me his logo and I promise to publish it on my page without any previous censorship. Thanks. P.S. I used OpenOffice Draw because Sodipodi does no yet support grids which I need badly for my designs (I have some AutoCAD backgroup and I am a very technical guy, apart from that I love Sodipodi and in fact the SVG on my site has been retouched with it). By the way I

syslinux 3.72 fails where 3.71 didn't
I have written a bash script (see below) to generate bootable SD-USB images using syslinux as booter. The script works OK with versions 3.63 and 3.71, but I get a null pointer error executing /tmp/$SYSLINUX/linux/syslinux -sf -o 16384 SD.img in 3.72. If you execute $ sudo sh SDformat.sh sys then you can test the image easily with qemu $ qemu -hda SD.img ++++++ SDformat.sh

navigation mode(s) in rgl
Hello, I've CCd' Duncan Murdoch as the rgl maintainer, but I'm also keen to hear from the broader community of any insights. In rgl my understanding is that there's only one rotation-navigation mode, where you left-click hold and the view pivots abound the centre of the scene. In other tools, including Google Earth, that is the default behaviour but there's also a

Having trouble with a remote-crop-then-resize using attachment fu =(
Basically, I''m trying to crop multiple images out of a remote/original scene.. Think flickr ''tagging'', only, the pixs in the tagged boxes become their own unique images.. by way of simulating an upload from the controller using attachment fu.. can''t quite figure out the specific method in fu that would allow me to do this.. I''m so near the edge right

putting the video into ogg multimedia
With both vorbis and libmng nearing stable status, I've been thinking about combining the two to make a real multimedia format. What would be involved in embedding mng in an ogg bitstream? From what I've read of the documentation, there doesn't seem to be any codec-enumeration system. Do we just interleave the packets and let the player guess based on the headers which codec to try? I

Login systems : stubbing accounts and AR association proxies
My Rails site has a fair amount of login and ''ownership'' logic. For instance, we have a number of clients (companies), each of which has several accounts. A client owns a number of different types of resources, and shouldn''t see any other clients'' resources, so, for example, our ScenesController contains a lot of references to

Problems in rgl on MacOS X
I have recently been trying to build rgl on MacOS X 10.4 using R-2.1.1 with gcc-4.0 5026 and gfortran. The R binary I built without problems and it includes libpng and Tcl/ Tk on X11. Rcmdr works correctly. The rgl build produces a large number of warnings like: g++ -no-cpp-precomp -I/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Resources/ include -I/System/Library/Frameworks/OpenGL.framework/Headers

alsa support for ices
Who wants it? Do you? I know I do. I have a patch here that applies to the cvs from a couple of nights ago. I like how modular the inputs are... it made the development that much easier. I'm not a "professional" alsa developer, so people may find problems. I was able to stream a test stream for a couple of minutes with no (noticable) problems. I'm going to do more testing
