Compile error in CVS, entry for a FAQ somewhere, place for test/comparison files to be uploaded?
The first error in CVS - fairly minor - is in the docs section: ---------------------------------------------------------------- make[1]: Entering directory `/tmp/temp/oggstuff/theora/doc' python txt2py.py spec.txt spec.py python txt2html.py spec.txt spec.html make[1]: *** No rule to make target `testspec.raw', needed by `all-am'. Ogg Theora files player
Hello, I try to compile player_example.c from http://downloads.xiph.org/releases/theora/libtheora-1.1.1.zip in Visual Studio 2008 on Windows XP. I built and added to the project libogg-1.3.0, libtheora-1.1.1, libvorbis-1.3.2 (http://www.xiph.org/downloads/) and SDL-1.2.15 (http://www.libsdl.org/release/SDL-devel-1.2.15-VC.zip). When I compile player_example.c Visual Studio shows: fatal error

Status of Windows Theora builds
Hi all, Just a heads up to let you know that I've fixed up the Visual C++ project files so that libtheora and the associated experimental programs (dumpvid/encoderwin/splayer/transcoder) builds on Windows again. I also have good news and good news. The bad news is: experimental\splayer doesn't work. It compiles, but segfaults immediately when you try to play any Ogg file. The bug

player_example vs splayer
Speaking of portability and people more familiar with SDL: The reason we have two example players for theora is that monty wrote the original example around the OSS audio interface used on several free unix-like operating systems, which immediately excludes win32 and MacOS, even though it used SDL to display the frames. SDL also has audio support, and is quite widely ported. splayer replaces

broken encoder
Derf, It looks like your cleanup patch broke the encoder? Until it's fixed, folks are advised to use yesterday's lib. -r --- >8 ---- List archives: http://www.xiph.org/archives/ Ogg project homepage: http://www.xiph.org/ogg/ To unsubscribe from this list, send a message to 'theora-dev-request@xiph.org' containing only the word 'unsubscribe' in the body. can't get to work windows player
Hi! I'm having some trouble with theora in windows, I would really appreciate if you could be able to give me a hand with this. First, I was not able to build theora in cygwin, because I built vorbis and ogg perfectly, but when I try to run ./configure with theora it can't find the ogg libs, if I use the --using-ogg-path = ... with /usr/local/lib it runs ok, but then it fails to compile

[Interopcast-general] about translatingdocumentation, but not only documentation.
Just a few weeks ago, I was thinking of writing a streaming source using libshout and portaudio. I was also considering LADSPA support, to do some minor post-processing before encoding. However, I'm currently developing on Mac OS X, and LADSPA's shared library plugin model has some issues here to be resolved. Another nice feature I have given a thought on is incorporating

problem with speex and iaxclient
Hi All, I try to compile the last version of iaxclient with the new build system, i also compiled speex 1.2b2 . When the makefile try to compile the sample code testcall I have the following mistales: gcc -I/d/Lib/iaxclient-2.0.1/portaudio-1.9/src/common -I/d/Lib/iaxclient-2.0.1/speex-1.2/include -o testcall.exe testcall.o ../../lib/.libs/libiaxclient.a

Aspect ratio question
Hi, despite the warnings on the website ;-) I played with the current CVS source of theora on Windows 2000 w/ Microsoft Visual C++. The codec and the "experimental" example programs compiled fine. I also encoded a 33 MB MPEG2 (?) video (3 minute trailer) to a 14 MB .OGG using "mplayer -vo yuv4mpeg -ao pcm" and the "encoderwin" sample program, and play it with the

Echo canceller
I am using 'portaudio' and 'speex' to implement a speech audio capture/playback. Preprocess works fine but not the echo canceller (associated with preprocessor). I have read 'testecho.c' but it didn't help me. What I am doing bad? This is my implementation: One thread to capture and playback, both are different functions called in different times directly from

speex_echo_cancel, please help!
Hello, Need some help using the speex_echo_cancel. I've read the documentation about the speex_echo_cancellation function: speex_echo_cancellation(echo_state, input_frame, echo_frame, output_frame); (in) echo_state => speex internal state. (in) input_frame => audio captured by mic. (in) echo_frame => the signal that was played in the speaker. (out) output_frame => the

problem with theora files inside container
hi folks! i modified theora_splayer.c using libportaudio to a version which only decodes 1 frame per request, vorbis audio functionality has been removed. my video-only theora Ogg files are inside a container, directly appended, offset info accessible via some file index header. i modified the fopen call in the source to open the main archive, find out where the requested embedded file begins,

Re: compatibility issues.
Hi, For the openSpeak project we use PortAudio V19 & speex. So if you want some code examples, you can look an pick in our SVN (its GPL). ATM we are having some problems with PortAudio v19 (it might still be buggy somehow, it seems not to support the 32-kHz sampling rate used by speex ultra-wide-band mode) so if you want something stable you'd better use v18. And of course, if you

release priorities
So, release priorities. I have all of derf's proposed bitstream changes accounted for in the reference encoder, if not supported in the decoder. These are going to be released as alpha 3 to get the new bitstream changes out for wider testing while we work on spec and implementations of the extensions. The remaining issue is the broken buffering in splayer. I'll take care of that

Echocancellation on windows
Hi all, does anybody has ran echocancellation successfully on windows ? I have a problem playing audio there. If you play a wav file no mater how I play it after comparing the captured data with the original file there is always difference in the audio length (for 18 sec of audio there is more than 250 ms of difference). Which of course breaks echocancellation. I've tried playing the audio

playback of opus files using portaudio
I am making a lightweight opus audio player. This is my portaudio callback function. But i hear a stammering song when i try to play a .opus song file. Can anybody say what is wrong or provide me link to any code which can play opus file written in c/c++(light). I tried to see some open source(vlc opus play) but was unable to follow. int MyCallback(const void* input, void* output, unsigned

Creating histograms from factors using a for loop
# I have a dataframe with data and factors similar to the following: a <- rep(c("a", "b"), c(6,6)) df <- data.frame(f=a, d=rnorm(12)) df # I am trying to write a 'for' loop which will produce a jpeg histogram for each factor. I can individually isolate the data from a factor and produce a jpeg histogram like so: fnc <- function(x){ x <-

OT Which Audio system to target?
I am starting to work with the speex API under Linux. Simple question what audio system should I target? OSS or Alsa? I looked at portaudio and it targets OSS and it seems to work fine but am I limiting myself? alsa does emulate OSS so it seems the best to target.

Counting observations of a combined factor
#I have a dataset with two factor. I want to combine those factors into a single factor and count the number of data values for each new factor. The following gives a comparable dataframe: a <- rep(c("a", "b"), c(6,6)) b <- rep(c("c", "d"), c(6,6)) df <- data.frame(f1=a, f2=b, d=rnorm(12)) df # I use the 'interaction' function to combine
