Hi
The newest cvs let's mplayer segfault:

Opening video decoder: [theora] Theora/VP3
Segmentation fault
I don't get any infos more :(
A gdb backtrace don't work.
(mplayer is compile with --enable-debug=3)
When will the encoder_example implemented in mencoder ???
Would be nice because the yuv-data is soooo big on the HD ;)

a/v sync problem
Hi,
I'm new to Ogg/Theora/Vorbis and would like to know how to get good a/v sync between theora and vorbis in an Ogg stream. Can someone point me in the right direction for help or assist me with this? I'm using the demo from the Ogg web site.
Thanks,
Jim

How to seek theora streams
I need to be exposed to a way of seeking theora streams. I have repeatedly found the same question asked on a different forums but could not find an answer. I'm working on a game and started integrating video with theora, the sound works just fine with ogg/vorbis(i find it easy to seek using ov_raw_seek for audio files). Could someone please point me to some example/code of how can i seek with

theora release todos
Hi,
last week's thread about getting closer to a release fizzled out.
The mailing list discussion and the TheoraTodo wiki item suggest the
following are required for release:
1. freeze the theora logical bitstream format
2. complete the reference implementation tools
3. stablize the libtheora API
4. complete the documentation
I'd like to suggest this as

Ogg MIME types scheme
Hello everybody,
I hope to finish this MIME types discussion with these conclusions -
it's taken enough bandwidth on these lists :). So here's a generic MIME
types scheme that we all seem to be able to agree on and all that is
needed for the moment.

Regarding applications implementation of Skeleton's Content-Type
I noticed this first in vorbis-tools and later in ffmpeg2theora. The
Skeleton bitstream contains a header called Content-Type. It lists
the media types of all the data in Ogg.
In vorbis-tools and ffmpeg2theora the output is normally Vorbis and
Theora. The Skeleton implementation there reports those media types
as video/x-theora and audio/x-vorbis.
I would like to suggest that it would be

How Ogg mappings translate into the codecs parameter in Ogg media types
Hello list,
We have recently introduced the codecs (optional) parameter on the Ogg
media types for easier identification of encapsulated codecs in
conditions were it's not feasable to examine the streams directly.
I received a comment from the IESG that we should have some sort of
list to describe how Ogg mapping strings translate to codec parameter
strings, so I went ahead and compiled a

Java and ogg/vorbis
I am a bit confused to how Ogg/vorbis works. This is my understand.
Vorbis is an audio codec that can be used instead of MP3 and it is open
source. If this is true, what is Ogg? I think it is some kind of wrapper
that allows you to stream Audio and Video. Am I right?
Also I want to encode short videos in Xvid and then encode the audio in
vorbis. Then I want to stream this over the Internet

If muxed with a video, it's insignificant (well, for my test cases).

Granule Pos of start of page...
OK... i've come across a problem trying to get the granule pos of the start
of the page... it's not so crucial with single stream ogg files... but now
that i have theora+vorbis in a file, i'm finding that when i seek to a
position, i have no way to determine the relative offsets of the different
streams at the new seek point and hence the av is out of sync.
So given a page, is it

Planning of next challenges for Firefox
Fellow open video enthusiasts,
Chris Blizzard just suggested that with all the Xiph developers
attending the OpenVideoConference, we should all get together and
discuss the next things to attack for Ogg Theora/Vorbis in Firefox. I
think that's a great idea.
Assuming that everyone stays for the hackfest on Sunday, we picked

Again, the newest theora cvs prevents mplayer from compiling:

syncing a live stream
Hi,
When I sync the a/v with just an icecast2 stream I'm starting at the beginning of the stream so it's simpler. But, when I read the stream from icecast2/ezstream I get the stream after the beginning and the a/v timing on the packets need to be handled differently. Does anyone know what approach I should take to sync the live stream? There has to be some generic high-level logic for an

RFC: I would like to contribute with SoC
[Resending since I sent my first mail before subscribing and I think
it didn't went through. I apologize if you got this twice.]
Hello everyone,
I would like to participate as a student in google Summer of Code and
I was very excited to discover that Xiph is one of the mentoring
organizations, because I am a big fan of both Vorbis and Theora.
So I would love to contribute to a Xiph.org
