YCbCr <-> RGB conversion question
Hi, I coded some routines for YCbCr <-> RGB conversion, both using floating point numbers and using integer arithmetics, code is attached. Let's say I want to convert from RGB to YCbCr and back. First the integer arithmetics: In [1]: from colors import * In [2]: a = [255, 0, 255] In [3]: RGB2YCbCr(a) Out[3]: (107, 202, 222) In [4]: YCbCr2RGB(RGB2YCbCr(a)) Out[4]: array([255, 1,

mixing effects when joining videos
Hi, what is the best way to go about mixing effects when joining two videos, like crossfading? Once I have the individual images as numpy arrays, the mixing itself is the easy part (I'll just use numpy + scipy for that, or any other python lib). However, it's not clear to me how (and especially when) to handle decoding and encoding properly. So lets say I create a video tutorial

python bindings to libtheora
Hi, in the past two days I wrote Python bindings to libtheora: http://github.com/certik/python-theora Currently it can read any ogv file (that seems to work quite well) and also encode to ogv (this mostly works, but there are some subtle issues to be fixed, I suspect I still have some bug in the way I half the dimensions of the Cb and Cr planes, so when you read ogv and write ogv, the resulting

Linux Foundation removed all Theora videos from linux.com?
I've heard this second hand and haven't had the time to confirm its vericity. Can someone confirm this is the case? If so, what were these people thinking? Removing support for the only video format that is sure to be installed in every Linux box somehow promoves the OS adoption? You get a WTF award LF, congrats. -Ivo

About TheoraSea and ITheora
Hello, I have just registred me (as JosephK but of course it's a pseudonym, I don't like trials) to talk about my projects ITheora and TheoraSea (and to learn english by practising :) ). I have seen that you already know about them by the article about TheoraSea on SOM and the article about ITheora on theora.org. Maybe can I explain how I have think all of that. The first idea was to

barplot: space makes beside=F (PR#7668)
Full_Name: Ondrej Medek Version: 2.0.1 OS: Linux/Debian Sarge Submission from: (NULL) (147.32.127.204) Hi, I had a R version 1.5.1 and I used a 'barplot' with 'beside=T' and 'space' has been vector of 8 numbers 'space=c(1,0.5,rep(c(0.5,-0.5),3))'. Then I upgraded to the R 2.0.1 and my graphs are broken. If I use any vector of more than 2 elements for

File size comparisons
Hi all, I just did a brief test with 3 different codec combinations: 1) ffmpeg sorenson/flv, mp3 audio in flv container 2) ffmpeg h264/vorbis audio/matroska 3) ogg/theora/vorbis using encoder_example Here are the results: 10721201 2010-10-16 14:46 origem1.flv 20731108 2010-09-13 23:04 origem1.mkv 33101703 2010-10-03 11:24 origem1.ogv as you can see, flv wins hands down, and it doesn't look

Expected performance for WORM scenario
We can't stick to single server because the law. Redundancy is a legal requirement for our business. I'm sort of giving up on gluster though. It would seem a pretty stupid content addressable storage would suit our needs better. Ogg Vorbis on iTunes / iMac
Been researching a way to play an internet radio station (http://www.hbr1.com ) that says I should use a method that supports Ogg Vorbis files. I found your site but it doesn't have any instructions as to "what and how to download and install" the "Xiph" decoder. I'm not very savvy with computers so please make any response basic and as non technical as possible.

Android App?
One of the things that annoys me about my current mobile phone is that I cannot use it to play music (naturally all encoded as Ogg Vorbis) as the phone only supports proprietary formats. I wonder if things will be any better with phones using the Android platform - whether anyone has plans to make an open format based player for it and whether there will be any restrictions uploading such an app

Expected performance for WORM scenario
Yes, I have had this in place already (well except of the negative cache, but enabling that did not make much effect). To me, this is no surprise ? nothing can match nfs performance for small files for obvious reasons: 1. Single server, does not have to deal with distributed locks 2. Afaik, gluster does not support read/write delegations the same way NFS does. 3. Glusterfs is
