Encoding QT to Theora
Hi,
We're currently editing a video advertizing Firefox and plan to release it
exclusively encoded with Theora during a couple of days (before it hits
YouTube, DailyMotion...).
Editing is done with Final Cut Pro so sources are QT files. What is your
experience of encoding QT to Theora?
For the time being we are not down to testing xiphQT so we're looking for
general advice.
Thank you

Video showcasing Theora in Firefox 3.1
The HD video is online at:
http://www.dailymotion.com/creative/video/x8a2rm_firefox-in-motion<theora at xiph.org>
We have a low-res Theora encoding up to test the streaming in Firefox 3.1
beta 3 at:
http://ozprod.com/Firefox-in-Motion.html
HD Theora should be available via BitTorrent next Tuesday.
Enjoy!

A big 'Thank you' to the developpers
Thanks a lot for the new encoder_example and the two pass encoding.
I was not yet able to compare the gain of it against my previously encoded
video (HD content takes a lot of time to encode).
Why it can not be used with -v ? Could it be possible in the future ?
I had better result with -v than with -V before.
Congratulations again.

Simple decoder (keyframe only) implementation ?
Hello everybody !
I am working on a php class to enable, on the server-side, to extract useful data from Ogg theora videos. http://opensource.grisambre.net/ogg .
I need to have it extract a thumbnail picture from a video (much like dailymotion or youtube). Right now, I am doing it using the ffmpeg-php extension (for picture extraction only), but the problem is that this module is available on

Theora / ogg usage
Hello,
An old theme just came up on the Wikipedia mailing list again :
Wikipedia strongly
encourages[1] using theora encoding, strongly enough that I don't think we
currently host any other video encodings...[2] however, most users know
how to make and edit and play mpegs, and find theora hard to work with.

XiphQT doesn't export to Ogg Theora
Hi ,
I tried XiphQT with QuickTime to view all Ogg Theora files and works
perfectly.
I also try to import these Ogg Theora files into iMovie and works perfectly.
But there is a lack of export Ogg Theora function into QuickTime.
XiphQT component works well but you can't make Ogg Theora files.
There is a way to open a new ticket for this request?

FireFox builds with support for OGG Theora / SVG+Video
Although this is old news actually, for those who are interested there
are precompiled builds of FireFox 3 with support for streaming OGG
Theora in SVG SMIL. Good news for those who just want to see it work
without having to patch and compile from GIT.

And for those who just want to see it work without downloading anything:

Page breaks when encoding ogg/theora
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to build theora encoding into my game engine. Essentially,
I'd like to do something similar to png2theora.c, where I take
individual screen shots of my game and encode them into a video.
Because png2theora.c uses the legacy C API, I used encoder_example.c
as a template instead. encoder_example.c seems to be the only code out
there that actually uses the th_* API.

Ogg/theora a/v sync issue with liboggplay
Hi,
The following url is being played with incorrect a/v sync in Firefox:

Tested with 3.6.3pre on Linux (with and without PulseAudio) and
Firefox 3.6 on Windows XP.
Looking at firefox source code, I found the library that is

Seeking through Theora+Vorbis ogg file..
Here's the problem:
I've rewritten large parts of the output code of cortado 0.1.0 with
the following aims:
1. output to something SWT-like instead of AWT.
2. Speed it up a bit.
In the rewrites I haven't restricted myself to java 1.1; the fact that
it uses SWT all by itself makes it useless for applets anyway. The
speedup worked very nicely; it's almost twice as fast as

unified meta-data handling ogg/theora/vorbis
Hey all,
I'm working on a media-database art project that basically stores a bunch of sound and video files, which are then navigated based on meta-data. I'm not sure where to start asking these, questions, here seemed like a good start.
So I was thinking I should use an open format, like ogg/vorbis/theora. I also thought, will all that coll meta-data stuff in ogg I should be able to

Question about number of frames in ogg/theora video file.
Hello.
How can I tell the number of frames in ogg/theora video file, without actually reading the file? Or, how can I tell
its playing time (which is basically the same thing).
I didn't find the information in THEORA_STATE, THEORA_INFO, but with the codec installed (illuminable oggcodecs),
Windows Media Player shows the ogg/theora file playing time, before it starts playing the file.

Theora (and ogg) on iPhone
I haven't been able to find anything about a port of the ogg/theora decoder
to the iPhone. I'm somewhat amazed it hasn't been done, really, given the
campaign against the iPhone in part for "not supporting open source codecs".
So, is there an unspoken ban on this, am I searching in the wrong places or
am I just the only one who'd really really like to be able to stream

watching ogg/theora streams on win32 ?
Hi all,
I wanted to give watching our stream a try.
Illiminable, I downloaded your codecs, and installed them, but Windows
Media Player still doesn't recognize the video in my test Theora video
clips. It seems to play the audio part of it fine though, although it
tends to crash at the end.
I tried RealPlayer 10 and after some archive browsing I found the link

Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora Streaming Software
Hi,
Its been a while since I posted to this list.
I have finished an application to stream Live Ogg Vorbis/Theora to file or
Icecast server for Windows users.
For example, you can stream your webcam/radio station with it. Maybe this
will help make more Theora streams available as there seems to be very
little Windows support.
Some features are as follows:

Ogg Theora Video Player
We are looking for Ogg Theora video player using SDL and OpenAL (sound). We
need to use OpenAL for 3D sound.
Please give us some pointers. Infact we can even pay for someone who will be
able to develop such a player. We also require playing buffered network
streams.
Thanks.
