Thusnelda Video Quality
Wow. Let me say that again, just in case you missed it. Wow. The quality looks to be on par with what I get out of H.264, but Theora has the added benefit of free and open source software with no patent worries so I can use it with a clean conscience. Thanks, everyone.

Theora vs MPEG vs H264
Hi all, I have to compare the theora codec with MPEG and H264. I was googling and I found that the PSNR is a common used parameter. How can I do this with Theora? XiphQT with Thusnelda for QuickTime X
Any progress in this issue? Or is the whole XiphQT project dead? Any 64bit package of XiphQT for MacOSX Snow Leopard on its way? Any solution on its way, which works with Quicktime X on Snow Leopard and which doesn't urge/force you to install and use the old Quicktime 7 player? Any solution on its way, solving the /Library/Components problem on MacOSX Snow Leopard/Quicktime X? See: [theora]

On your document here: http://web.mit.edu/xiphmont/Public/theora/demo.html you show the result of the improved rate managemet in the theora codec. Can you tell which are the encoders that produced the two video matrix-580.ogg

Theora 1.0 final release
Theora is a video codec with a small CPU footprint that offers easy portability and requires no patent royalties. While the Theora bitstream format was standardized in 2004 and our beta releases have been used by millions, this 1.0 release is an important milestone reflecting the maturity and stability of the Theora codebase. A number of leading multimedia web groups already support Theora.

mpeg4/xvid/divx vs. theora
Hi there, I have an elementary question. Although theora can be placed in the same class of codecs as MPEG-1, -2, -4 why is there no greater usage of this codec? On the bigger part of web sites trailers or short videos are encoded with some mpeg codec. Why is theora still so rarely used and unfamiliar although it perfomes very well from my point of view? Is it, because - the whole mpeg family is

Theora 1.1 rate controller
Hello everyone, I'm currently developing an adaptive videoconferencing application based on Ekiga which uses TFRC as a congestion control mechanism to adapt the video encoding rate according to the quality of the network experienced. My goal was to use the open-source Theora codec for video transmission. Unfortunately, it seemed that Theora 1.0 did not properly implement any correct CBR mode.

oggcat or other ways to combine theora videos (with or without re-encoding)?

[PATCH] thusnelda keyframe only speedup
Hi all, Attached is a trivial patch that speeds up encoding for key frame only streams. It skips the motion vector search which is not needed when there are never going to be any delta frames. It was made against thusnelda SVN revision 14589. Tested on Fedora 8 x64_64. -Phil -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Name:

do Sintel make bad image for theora?
Hallo all, there is sintel online premiere up today http://www.sintel.org/ . But oggtheora video is every thing but not gut. I downloaded 720p version but IMHO some times it looks for me like scaled 480p. In my experience theora can do better, or em i wrong? strings Sintel.2010.720p.Theora-VODO give me fallowing: ENCODER=ffmpeg2theora-0.24 Xiph.Org libtheora 1.1 20090822 (Thusnelda) Screenshots
