smbclient porting to Handheld device
Dear Andrew Tridgell and Samba Team, You have done a wonderful job in providing an excellent piece of software. I am interested in porting smbclient to Handheld device, mostly as a hobby. Please see my website http://vieka.com/. Because some of the Handheld OSs don't have the ability to access Windows share resource, specifically, the new Pocket PC by Microsoft, I would like to add this

call an IP camera?
Hi, is it possible to "call" an IP camera? I'm thinking about something like bridging with a music stream, but instead of streaming audio, bridge with the video stream from the camera. It would be very cool if I could just call the camera and see what's going on. Ffmpeg shows the following streams available from the camera: Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (Main),

FPGA implementation in the camera
I'm considering implementing the Theora format in the FPGA of the new camera. The previous model (Elphel 313 - http://www.elphel.com, https://sourceforge.net/projects/elphel) had smaller FPGA and was able to produce just motion JPEG utilizing 97% of the resources. The new (model 333) camera uses 3 times bigger FPGA (and also faster), it also has increased frame buffer and system memory.

Suggestions for Theora
Hi, I have some suggestions for Theora:1) Theora should have a feature like adobe flash does that enables direct end user to end user peering which decreases a server's bandwidth usage and cost. Read here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Time_Media_Flow_Protocol Theora should go one step further and support file sharing. 2) Theora should have a plugin for the safari web browser that runs

DSP Core * PowerVR SGX OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant 3D

Video on (video-capable digital) still camera not accessible
I'm looking for any intelligent commentary on this - it may be a little off topic, but I'm wondering if anyone knows about this. This isn't short, so bear with me. Yesterday, I tried to download a video off of one of my digital still cameras that also takes videos (Canon Powershot SX10 iS) on my CentOS x86_64 5.3 system. When I plugged the camera into a USB port and turned it on, it

Camera Communications
I have an Olympus camera which communicates with the software through a special cable connected to COM2:. The software works in WINE, but it won't communicate with the camera, it says my COM: settings are wrong, but I've tried changing settings to about every combination possible with no luck. Any ideas? Has anyone gotten this type of camera to work in WINE? Thanks, BIll K.

cameras and CentOS
Hi I want to put up a few cameras connected to a CentOS box. I currently have a box with one camera and that works (USB), I can take a pic (the script does that) and see that on a webpage. However, I want to have a couple of cameras a little further away (more than 5 meters). USB has a limit, I have tried that camera with a longer cable and it does not work ... so I need to route that in a

Encoding speed
I tried to encode two minutes from an AVI DV file 720x480: ffmpeg latest release produces a FLV 320x240 25fps 360k video 40k audio in about 45 sec. ffmpeg latest release produces an OGG 320x240 25fps 360k video 40k audio in about 1:20 sec. ffmpeg2theora the same in about 2 minutes or more. The FLV quality it's quite good, some dropped frames maybe. I was wondering to know if ffmpeg team

security cameras
I heard about some inexpensive security cameras which get their power through the same cat5 cable which delivers the data/pictures (which would simplify wiring tremendously). Does anyone know about these? Do they work with Linux, particularly CentOS? tnx 4 tips.

Theora@GP2X possible?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello, I just want to know whether it would be possible to play ogg-theora videos on my favourite Handheld, the GP2X. For those of you who don't know the GP2X yet there's much information about it on Wikpedia or on http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/Hardware_Documentation . To make it short, its an ARM-based Handheld which is able to play Xvid and DivX

SIP on Handhelds
Does anyone know if SIP will/is support on handheld PCs such as the iPaq or Axiom? With their integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth it seems like a solution to provide a wireless based sip phone for any user would be possible. Handoff between access points might be problematic but most users I know would be using their PDA phone in an airport with free wireless or at the local cafe, etc, etc... Can
